My husband and I met some of his longtime friends from college at Lungomare for lunch, and we had a delightful time! The food and service were very good and the view of water added to the ambiance. This was our first time dining at Lungomare, and if we're in the area we'd gladly return!

This expansive Jack London restaurant is a good one for a big place down by the water...but it is without any sense of the old Italian intimacy for which I had hoped (it was my first time there)..the appetizer and salad we had were fine..the kale salad had by my colleague was fabulous actually while my smoked salmon, fennel crackers and burrata was somehow skimpy with the barest amount of smoked salmon on the plate for the price) And while everyone was pleasant..staff need to be better trained to be less 'overly sweet' -- a little more sophistication would fit the prices better.. So...if it's a fairly nice place and you want down by the water..it's just fine..but not what I would come away saying 'how special!'

Lungomare has never disappointed yet! I have been there with friends and have hosted work events twice with a third scheduled for Dec. Their private dining room is perfect since, while private, you have still have a great view and you do not have that claustrophobic, cut-off from the world feeling. The service is excellent. Lungomare is my go to spot when I want to ensure a great meal and good time is had by all!

We enjoyed our dinner. And the service was great. The only disappointment were the cocktails. They have a house made tonic that made a terrible gin & tonic, and the cosmos was weak at best. Although, we've been there for brunch and the Bloody Mary is worth coming for!!

We came here for our anniversary. We were sat at a table with no lighting and had to put extra jackets on because we were cold. Our small table became crowded with a tea pot and plates and water glasses that were wY too big for the table. When our food finally came we had to scramble to get the plates out of the way for the food runner. The food was average overall. We left disappointed and will not return.

Lungomare is better than the Chronicle's review, and our party of 4, each of whom is picky and demanding in his or her own way, all found delicious things to eat and drink, pleasantly served, with a charming view of the commerce chugging by on the Alameda canal and the lights across the water. Sunset would be spectacular.

Food was slightly on the salty side but fair overall. Squid ink pasta was a huge disappointment with ZERO of that briny delicious squid ink flavor. It was just pasta, colored black. The restaurant is in such a great location, too bad the food isn't up to par and can't compete with so many of the new Oakland restaurants so dedicated to spectacular food at a similar price.

Four friends had an excellent evening experience at Lungomare on Labor Day. The balmy air allowed us to dine on the terrace, with its view over the Alameda estuary. Service was a bit ragged but the servers were pleasant and brought us a delicious dinner, with shared antipasti, interestingly unusual pasta, perfectly roasted chicken. The chocolate budino was rich and unctuous. Overall, a most pleasant occasion.

The 4 of us did the Sunday package with a starter a main course and a desert and bottomless wine. One of the main courses one of use wanted was unavailable but we weren't informed of this before reviewing the entire menu and deciding on what we wanted. I took forever to get our wine. When it finally arrived one of the glasses was broken and a new glass was requested, 4 times before a replacement arrived at the table. All of the food was very bland. Very surprising given that the dishes sounded really good. It was almost as if the restaurant doesn't believe in using any type of spices. 2 deserts was brought out way earlier than the other two. That resulted in two of us basically finishing our deserts before the others got theirs.

The service here is friendly but too attentive. The food is more creative than the standard restaurant Italian fare. Our table had a tasty octopus appetizer, a ravioli, and a squid-ink pasta with seafood. But the restaurant is stingy with the seafood and the ravioli was too oily. The best part of the meal was the sangiovese wine. I expected more given the prices.

This place is a good find for brunch! The food was very good. The staff was very friendly. Servings were quite adequate and nicely presented. The berry compote on the french toast was made in house with fresh berries. It was excellent. There are inside and outside dining areas which look out over the Oakland estuary and Jack London square. Sunday is farmers market day. All in all an excellent experience!

We needed a place for a late brunch for 9. Thought to try this because of the lovely waterside location. In the end the food was only OK and the service was horrible! Started off bad when the server sloshed water on the table when filling our glasses. Then the appetizers took forever and came out almost with the entrees. When the entrees came they brought us 2 sets of one meal that we ordered only once and totally FORGOT (their word not mine) two other orders. They did not charge us for those 3 meals but it was all a bit absurd. I do not even think there was a manger on duty. They did not talk to us if they were there. If you are looking for something new and waterside, try a different place.

This was our second time ding here. Outdoor seating gives you a nice view of Jack London Square and the Oakland Estuary. The food is very good. It offers a good selection of salads and entrees. We had salads and a Pizza, and cocktails. You can eat big, or you can it little. It is a very relaxing atmosphere, and there is no hurrying feeling of getting you in and out.

The grilled squid appetizer and the prawns with black linguine--prawns with the heads left on, were both sublime! The sea salt with caramel in chocolate budin was also outstanding. I was very happy to see affogato on the menu--it was like eating in Italy. Did I forget to mention the great Italian wines on the list mine a rosato and my friend's an excellent nebbiola. Only one misstep--the salad which had great ingredients--altho' I am sure what was listed as roasted beets were actually watermelon radishes, and it was way overdressed. Next time I ask for dressing on the side, so I can control the quantity. But if I were to be invited into the kirchen, I could show them an easy trick to consistently avoid overdressing.

We were greeted by an extremely friendly young woman and seated immediately. Everything we ordered was delicious and consistent in quality. The appetizer, an heirloom tomato and watermelon salad was light and beautifully presented. Fennel sausage pizza was very much like the pizza I ate in Italy with a thin crust and brightly seasoned toppings. The gluten free crust was so 'real' had to ask the waiter to double check with the kitchen. Pork chop on a bed of kale and the black garlic shrimp linguini were excellent, and the waiter made a point of telling me the salad that came with the chop had bread in it and served it on the side so I could give it to my son. This was an example of the wonderful, attentive service. Will definitely go back!

Five of us had a very enjoyable dinner at Lungomare, the waiter was friendly but service was very slow. Food varied in quality with some excellent, some of the appetizer portions (salmon) were tiny and pricey, the gelati were quite nice. The wine list is unfortunately poor. The ambiance was excellent and the location great with outdoor dining under the conform of an infrared heater. We'll go again!

6 of us enjoyed a Friday night dinner at Lungomare. Our server, Isaac, was great. He knows the menu and wine list very well and is so friendly, outgoing and helpful. The fish special (and I can't remember the type of fish) was perfect. 3 of us ordered the Black Garlic Linguini, and all of us loved it. We shared the trio of gelatos for dessert and they were all quite tasty. By the way, if you are a fan of ginger, you really need to try their house-made Basil Ginger Beer....with some vodka added, it's the best Moscow Mule ever! Even without the vodka, it would be a great drink. There's an intense ginger 'tang' with each sip, and then the basil hits and it's just really refreshing/tasty/delicious all in one.

Enjoyed the food, service and outdoor patio dining. While it is "fit for foodies", there is something for just about everyone on the menu. Tip: don't be shy...ask your wait staff to tell you about menu items of interest. Our wait staff was very well informed about the ingredients and cook/prep methods. It was fun to hear about the fresh made pasta with black garlic, the various items that came on the cheese board, and the cured meats. What's black garlic? You make your own pepperoni? How is that candied fruit made? Really, that little gelatin cube is made from red wine?

i walked by this place often and wondered how it was - it's a big place and fancy looking and a bit intimidating. but with a groupon i went from happy hour through dinner, sat outside by the fire, on a weeknight, it wasn't crowded, with view of the water, it was great! we shared a pizza, they make the crust from scratch and i'm picky about crusts - i'd totally eat their pizza again. drinks are great, great selection, octopus was grilled perfectly, fresh seafood is always a big plus for me also service from hostess to wait staff were all excellent. i can't afford to go as often as i'd like but i'll def go back especially for happy hour!! great to go on a date with my husband as well as with the girls.
