  • "FOOD WAS GREAT! BEST MEAL IN A LONG TIME FROM RESTAURANT. HOWEVER the waitress we had was awful. She didn't offer us a wine list and she didn't help us with the menu at all......we just picked something didn't really know what to order. It was as if we were bothering her having to wait on us. Ordered dessert and waited 15 mins for her to get it and it was sitting on the counter the whole time!!!! Couple was seated next to us and they were offered the wine list and she told them to let her know if they had questions. Guess we were not worth her time but they were."

  • "I had the pasta which was great but I insisted my wife have the filet steak. it was around $32.00 which they could charge $50 for. It s that good. I've spent $50 $60 on a steak like that and was disappointed"

  • "We had a nice window table. We had a five-course meal. The food was nicely prepared and delicious. The service was good, recommendations from our waitress were helpful. We will definitely return."

  • "We had gotten this as a Christmas gift...cave tour with wine tasting and snacks. Apparently, making the reservation on line was the wrong thing to do BUT they gave us a private tour!!!!! They were extremely nice about it and did everything they could to make sure we have a pleasant experience. I didn't read the fine print, I'm not a fan of fine print. Everything worked out for the better though."

  • "Enjoyed a late lunch with friends. Very few customers at that time of day but food was excellent. Menu selections were varied and all hot food was served piping hot. Just returned from Italy and felt like we were back there with the wonderful flavors. Going back soon but bringing a sweater. This establishment is connected to the famous caves in Stillwater so it was a bit chilly!"

  • "Waitress seemed overwhelmed and the restaurant was almost empty. My dinner was undercooked so I had to wait another 15 minutes before I could eat , everyone was done before I could eat. Bread was stale. No one was there on a friday night - not good."

  • "The food was all right and the restaurant itself is quite lovely but the band they had on the night we visited was terrible. And not even a real band, they used a lot of electronics. I wouldn't return there if the same band was playing."

  • "Good food. Lovely atmosphere. However it was cold in there. Also our dinner was a little more than we wanted to spend. But the overall experience was great. Highly recommend."

  • "I booked here..we had never been here before! Our server was outstanding!! The food was great, a little pricey for approx. 4oz. Of lamb! The ambiance was great & romantic...until the music started...we love music, but way to loud for this type of setting. Our Server was kind enough to ask them to turn there speakers down...but they did not! We understood than why so many people came to eat earlier.... 7 tables got up to leave right as the music started. Will go back but much earlier than 6:30 pm."

  • "Luna Rosa was not how I thought it was to be. Risotto was not as expected for 20.00 I do expect fresh veggies for the $ that is paid. I am picky and I can spend less at a restaurant that offers fresh veggies and everything else. Someone there needs to change the way the food is prepared. Too bad cause a beautiful place."

  • "We made reservations through open table which is very convenient. No waiting on the phone, and confirmation received immediately. The food was excellent. The only complaint would be that our request for a vegetarian option was completely ignored, although we had also stated in the "special request" section on Open Table as well. The restaurant had no knowledge of that request. The restaurant has very few options for vegetarians so just be aware of that. Pizza was the only option. But it was very good!"

  • "My new favorite restaurant. I've long been searching for a mid-brow Italian restaurant in the Twin Cities area, and Luna Rossa was PERFECT in regard to both food and ambience. My wife and I were celebrating our 18th anniversary, and -- no exaggeration here -- our experience made us forget all about a harrowing one we'd had just an hour earlier en route (we'd been run off the road in wintry conditions!). We will be coming again and again. And again! Bravi!"

  • "We had a lovely dinner and our table at the window allowed us to look out at the street as the snow was gently coming down - we felt warm and cozy. Service was excellent and the food was hat and flavorable - and at a reasonable price as well' The four of us left after a relaxing dinner saying that we all planned to come again and would be recommending it to friends. Informative website!"

  • "Moderate overall describes our visit. While parts of the dinner were good, parts were were very good and other parts were much less so. My Gorgonzola pork medallions were very good, but my salad was limp and very unappetizing. Overall, the food was pretty good, but I'd rather spend more money on solidly delicious food as I've had at numerous fine dining establishments."

  • "Food was tasty. Waitress was new & was not attentive to our needs: water, didn't suggest any dessert items or coffee. Not much to see on cave tour. Not worth $7."

  • "when we got to Luna Rossa we were told they did not have our reservation. Regardless we were seated right away and waited for our friends. Turns out our friends had already gotten there, checked in on our reservation and were waiting in a different part of the restaurant. it took us about 20 minutes to figure this out. Had our reservation showed up as 'checked in' or something to that effect the hostess would have seen that and let us know. Instead it supposedly disappears, therefore depending on the hostess who checked my friends in, she didn't realize they were there and the mix up occurred. Was our hostess misinterpreting the reservation system or is there a flaw in it?"

  • "I've eaten at Luna Rossa a handful of times. It's always been a wonderful experience. I recently had dinner here 2 times in a month and had the same thing for dinner. The taste had totally changed from one visit to the next. It was better the first time. But in any event, the wait staff is wonderful, very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is romantic and fun."

  • "I ordered a nice pasta; no complaints. My husband ordered a steak medium well. It was rare. He asked to have it brought back to the kitchen and that was done, however, it came back bloody again. Very disappointing. The worst part about the evening, however, was our placement in a room off to the side of the entrance. We were the first couple placed in the room and it had to have been 40 degrees in there. The staff were very accomodating and gave us a heat fan. The next couple of tables seated weren't so lucky. Ultimately, my legs were warm and my nose and fingers were freezing during our whole meal. My husband and I assumed all of those who were seated in that room would be compensated on our bill; we were not."

  • "We had a great time at Luna Rossa. The service was excellent.... friendly, attentive and fast. When we walked in the restaurant we were immediately greeted and then seated at our table. The waitstaff made some great recommendations for wine. The food was super. Luna Rossa may be a little more expensive that other restaurants but I would expect that when receiving great service and food."

  • "Luna Rosas was warm and inviting with nice, professional staff. I had the veal saltimboca and found it to be drowning in a heavy, salty cream sauce. A little disappointed about that. Great ambience. Would try something different next time."

  • "The service was wonderful and very sweet when reserving i had stated it was my boyfriends and i's anniversary and they wrote happy anniversary on the table and went out of their way to say it an give a free scoop of gellato the food was wonderful an our waitress Amanda was fantastic fast friendly service all around and a very romantic ambience"

  • "For years I have been going to Luna Rossa's sister restaurant. So, I was familiar with the menu before coming here. We had the same wonderful food we come to expect. It was made even better with the decor in the old building the dining room where we are, with its windows into the cave behind the restaurant. What made this experience even better was the incredible wait staff. The were very friendly, helpful and frequently checking to make sure we were satisfied. I have been to more "elegant" (expensive) restaurants that could take a lesson from Luna Rossa. I strongly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Receptionist was cold and inefficient but server & busser were AWESOME! Food was great! Table request (quiet, with a view, away from music were mostly honored). Had to tell server about the 50th birthday we were celebrating. She felt bad about not knowing and covered for receptionist. (We don't drink so cannot comment on wine, but there was a lot to choose from and most of the tables had wine.) Music was two person group playing James Taylor-type music. We were about 15 feet away and were only there for about 15 minutes so don't know if it would have become an interruption."

  • "My wife's order came out and was incorrect. The server brought it back and it was undercooked. I ordered the filet, medium and it came out well done. We told our server about our food and not much was done to make it right with us but taking off one of our beverages. Lots of kids out with families out for dinner as well. Not very romantic! Great wine though!"

  • "This restaurant is a good place for special occasions. It is a little crowded with the tables so close together but the food is very good."

  • "I took my wife to Luna Rossa the night after our wedding. And it was a good choice. We were greeted, and seated, promptly. Water and bread were quickly delivered to our table. A very well-informed and friendly waitress described the daily specials to us, and took our wine order. The tomato-basil soup was very good. The Margherita pizza was excellent, with fresh tomatoes and basil on a perfectly baked crust. I had one of the daily specials, The Lobster Ravioli, with shrimp and scallops in a pesto cream sauce. The ravioli was great, albeit drowned in a pool of too much sauce. And while the sauce was tasty, the dish could easily have passed for a soup. But, overall, a very nice restaurant. We will be back!"
