  • "Wonderful food and fun, attentive service. Delicious mixture of flavors, some subtle and some bold. Clean plates and happy faces all around. We have been back several times."

  • "Food was amazing. Service could have been better. Felt like our table of 2 was an imposition to the waiter and we got forgot about. Will definitely return for the food and hopefully the service will be better next time!"

  • "wine not as good as last time. Pasta and fish superb."

  • "Went with a large party and the resounding theme was "we need to come back so we can try everything on the menu". Each one of us had something different and every plate was cleaned. I had the chopped/ chef salad. And the wild boar ragu. Both fantastic. The service was lovely. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We have been returning to Luna Rossa over and over and it is consistently a delight in terms of food, service and ambience."

  • "I have been here many times and have never had a meal that I did not thoroughly enjoy. It is a wonderful neighborhood Italian restaurant, which is welcoming and friendly, with excellent food and a quiet and comfortable ambiance."

  • "My wife and I ate here for the first time on Saturday evening, and we liked everything about it. We were seated promptly at a small corner banquette in the back room. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The fog gnocchi lives up to the excellent comments other diners have made, and the fettuccine bolognese was delicious, if not exceptional. The wine list is not large, but there is a wide range of selections by the glass, with some interesting choices. All in all, a very nice spot."

  • "My husband and I have dined here at least once a week for the past 2 years and so have sampled the menu widely. Their pasta selections are outstanding-the daily special of pasta filled with veal and amaretti served with pancetta and sage is exquisite. The breads and sun-dried tomato, olives or other condiments are always delicious. The fish dishes are fresh and flavorful. The service is superb-warm and gracious. By this time, they greet us by name and we are delighted to feel like part of the family."

  • "The food and service were wonderful. The portions are a very good size too. Although a little expensive, you definitely get your money's worth at this restaurant."
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "Bright, cheery, warm interior and excellent food and wine. One of the more unusual and charming aspects of this restaurant is the view from the rear window, which discloses a private house with a garden just a few feet from the window. Very rare in Manhattan."

  • "The veal was tough and had to be sent back to the kitchen, The pasta dishes were mediocer."

  • "A quiet week night spent at this charming little restaurant could not have been better. Our waiter, Maximo (sp?) was extremely welcoming and helpful. My husband and I shared the artichoke appetizer as he recommended, and truly enjoyed it. We also enjoyed the home made pasta, which was delectable -- and the Veal milanese. Both of us wanted to lick the plates! I didn't give it 5 stars only because I generally reserve that for "gourmand" restaurants with more complex dishes and luxurious decor. But I do give this place a "Let's go back" - which says enough!"

  • "The reviews on Yelp and Open Table were spot on. Food was terrific. Since it was relatively empty, the ambience was perfect."

  • "Try the kale salad or the beet salad. Meatballs were very good, the chef made a grilled chicken dish with rosemary and galric for me which was perfect"

  • "but probably better! you must put this on your list of places to try on the UES. The food competes with great tase like Felida's."

  • "If you are in the mood for a great meal, Luna Rossa is an outstanding East Side choice. The pasta was "al dente" and the meat was very tender. Sauces were top notch. Our party of four benefitted from attentive service as well."

  • "This restaurant is always my go to when I have guest from out of town because they want to go where the locals go. Every single person wants to go back when they visit again. It is wonderful !"

  • "Luna Rossa is a very tiny sliver of a restaurant with tables placed very close together. While quaint, it doesn't allow for alot of privacy if you want to keep your conversation between the two of you. The menu was varied and the food was delicious. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Overall we enjoyed our dining experience and would return again."

  • "This place has really grown on me. I am used to Southern Italian and this is more Northern. Whatever, it's really good food served up with friendly but inobtrusive service."
    Dined on 11/22/2013
  • "Great service and great food at a reasonable price - can't go wrong! Everything we had was fresh and delicious and the wait staff and manager were nice, accommodating and spot on with their food recommendations. It is a bit small and no bar to sit at, but worth it!"

  • "Authentic Italian food in a charming townhouse setting. Yorkville gem. Service was attentive and personable, professional but never officious or stiff. A good place to actually converse -- not too noisy, rather a more relaxed, homey and softly lit atmosphere. Highly recommend."

  • "Luna Rossa was terrific as always. The specials were interesting and the menu is classic. Whether interesting or classic the preparation is wonderful. Occasionally, the plate presentation isn't all it could be but that is just cosmetic. Very fine, helpful service and quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Not trendy but better."

  • "After attending a museum nearby, my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to grab dinner somewhere near our apt. Luna Rossa happened to have the perfect time availability, and we were even able to sit a bit earlier than our reservation time. The food was delicious as before (this was my 2nd time, but my bf's 1st meal here), and our server was very attentive. It was a bit noisier than my first dinner because there was a large 15-person party next to us, but that didn't affect the noise level as much as we expected. The manager initially greeted us, and took my bf's coat to coat check before he even had the chance to ask :) Overall, we had a delicious meal, great wine, and the perfect romantic evening in a local spot."

  • "The pasta exceeded expectations. The Bronzino was good but not exceptional. Te service was exceptional. The waiter could not have been more perfect and although we were amongst th last to leave we were not made to feel rushd. This is a cozy, neighborhood gem."

  • "great pasta, pretty good service, on the loud side, slightly cramped"

  • "only problem: entrees come pre-over-peppered; chicken usually overcooked & dry. otherwise a fine restaurant"

  • "This is a lovely gem of a place on the UES. There is great food in NY, there is great service in NY and there great ambiance in NY....This place has it all. A great place for a meal with friends. The waiters are professional and friendly and the food (and wine) delicious. Even the mixed drinks were well done. Even though the restaurant was constantly filled, you never felt like you were rushed...each course very naturally followed the other, with time to linger over wine or coffee. Really a nice time."
