Very good food, fine service --
less expensive than other high quality restaurants. I have lunch meetings here and everyone is always happy with the food."

Interesting menu with lots of
delicious daily specials. Great ambiance. Great staff. Have been enjoying their hospitality for years without a bad meal. My go to Italian in the City."

Very authentic and very delicious
Italian food. I have eaten dinner here 3 times and tried something different each time and each of my 3 entrees were memorable. Reasonably priced too..."

In a city the size of NY, choosing
a restaurant can be overwhelming. I am always looking for a great total experience - great food, of course, but also ambience, service, and location. Luna Piena meets all of these for me! The food is truly amazing. Any of the pastas are a good choice (my favorite being the wild mushroom ravioli), as are the meat dishes (plenty of chicken, veal, and seafood choices). The wine list is not huge, but the restaurant maintains a great selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle. Other than the food the main reason I keep returning to Luna Piena is the impeccable service. The wait staff is charming, knowledgeable, and discreetly nearby. A trip to NYC will always include a dinner at Luna Piena for me!"

My wife and I were in NY for an
impromptu weekend getaway. We were able to get tickets for a show, then scoured Open Table for a good place to grab dinner, and with the zillion choices to review, it became very overwhelming. We contacted the concierge at the hotel, and he suggested Luna Piena. With that we checked it out on OT, liked the menu and reviews and took our chances. Glad we did! The service was fantastic, very attentive, and you could see this was a family run place. Our waitress was very informed on the menu items, and even offered to have something made for me that wasn't on the menu. The food was fresh, flavorful, and hands down, TOP NOTCH! Will definitely go again my next trip to NY and I highly recommend."

This was my husband's and my first
time at Luna Piena and we were so pleased to have found this gem. We had an early dinner before attending a local event. Menu selection was excellent and I opted for one of the specials which was pasta with bite size pieces of fillet mignon, mushrooms in a wine sauce. My husband chose the veal parmigian which was outstanding. Portions wwere plentiful. Also wanted to mention that we each started with a large bowl of vegetable soup which warmed us up on a cold winter eening. As it was my birthday, a delicious piece o tiramisu ended our meal. Attentive service was provided throughout the meal"

For the last three years around
the holidays, i have been taking my son's girlfriend for dinner here after we go for facials a block away at Mario Badescu. I love it. The pasta is delicious and I love the warm and cozy atmosphere .The workers are always friendly and there is just a general good vibe. My husband has been there a number of times for lunch as well and also really likes it."

Stopped in on a cold Friday in
December. Modest exterior with a warm, friendly ambience inside. This is clearly a family-run place, and everyone pitched in to provide impeccable service. Food is truly authentic and delicous: we had a Veal Chop Special and a Veal Milanese - both were excellent. Try the blood orange sorbet for dessert - delicious. And the prices - for New York - were very reaonable. Try this place - you won't be disappointed."

The spinach stuffed ravioli was
excellent with the homemade pasta being cooked just right and the fresh tomato sauce being awesome. We'll definitely plan to eat here again the next time we are in the city."

An unexpected find: a relaxed
neighborhood fine dining experience. If you don't like fussy, but you do appreciate well prepared and presented dishes with impeccable service, try Luna Piena. You will not be disappointed. The staff is deservedly proud of this restaurant. This was our first dinner there, but we will be back."

Wanted a pasta-based dinner the
night before NYC marathon, and the choice proved good, with nice food and quantities that definitely do not leave you in want of more carbs."
Dined on 11/2/2013
Given this was our pre-race NYC
marathon dinner, we ate a basic spaghetti meal and didn't indulge in the wine or dessert but we would definitely go back. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Loved it!"

Luna Piena offers very good
original italian dishes served by welcoming and friendly staff."

We took a chance and were nicely
surprised. We sat at an outside table and the weather was perfect. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable (and Italian!). The service was very nice and not rushed. We started with a prosecco and the chef's special antipasta which was quite nice and more than enough for two. There was a very long list of specials and it was hard to remember all of them, but our server was very gracious about repeating any items I wanted a refresher on! They have a nice selection of wines and after dinner beverages. We passed on desert, just not that hungry, but had a nice espresso to wrap up the meal. Definitely try this place if you want some good Italian food in an authentic setting."

A nice little Italian restaurant
in NYC. Great staff. Generally good food. Wonderful service."
Dined on 8/17/2013
First the service in this
restaurant was excellent. Everyone was very attentive. Presentation of food was very good and the food itself was very good. A little on the "rich" side so I couldn't finish my meal but the gravy was very good. It wasn't very crowded but it is not a large place so I could imagine if it was busier that it could be a little too "crowded" for my taste. I certainly would go back."

We have dined here on a number of
occasions and have never been disappointed. The service is top notch. The food is excellent. One of our favorite places."

whenever I come to Manhattan. Always great food and service -its a hidden gem"
Dined on 7/10/2013
The staff were all very nice and
accommodating but the food was just ok. It wasn't bad but it was nothing special so I wouldn't eat there again."
Dined on 7/12/2013
Not knowing much about Luna Piena,
we booked dinner for a dinner meeting and were truly impressed by the wine, the fantastic food selection and especially the service. We were completely looked after and everything, from the bread to the dessert, was extremely good, far above average. Highly recommended."
Dined on 7/12/2013
Great family restaurant with an
incredibly diverse menu. The staff is warm and extremely knowledgeable. Everything they prepared was done perfectly. This is a great go to local Italian restaurant."
Dined on 7/2/2013
It is not a suit and tie
restaurant. If you want to talk with old friends, you may invite them to the place like this restaurant."
Dined on 6/19/2013
Lovely ambiance and excellent
service. We had a lunch meeting here and we were able to hear each other while we enjoyed excellent food. We ordered the following dishes: Pasta Integrali alla Sorentina (baked whole wheat pasta w/ mixed veggies & mozzarella); Guazzetto di Pesce alla Barese (mixed seafood stew in a tomato sauce, served w/ garlic bread); and Gnocchi di Patate (Homemade potato dumpling w/ bresaola & radicchio in a pink sauce). All the dishes were excellent. Luna Piena has become one of my favorite restaurants!"

Everything was great. The service
food everything The really pay attention to detail. It makes a difference. All the food was so fresh and well prepared!"
Dined on 5/12/2013
for that part of town the prices
were good, especially for the quailty meal. Best mozzerella i've had. Only drawback, although they were not crowded in the least, really rushed us through. we went early , maybe they thought we were in a hurry."
Dined on 5/2/2013
As usual we had a great meal here.
The pasta with seafood was cooked to perfection. The pasta was al dente and the seafood fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff was professional, friendly, and attentive. This is the reason we return here time after time."
Dined on 3/31/2013
Always a pleasurable experience.
Service is great. Food never disappoints. Highly recommended."

The staff was very friendly and
the food was excellent. I'll go there again with my family if I'm staying in Midtown East."

This was my second visit to Luna
Piena. Maybe it was our early reservation, but I didn't have as magical of an experience this time with my date as I did with my family a few years ago. We appreciated the thorough service effort, but the server consistently hung around and made us feel like we weren't having a private romantic dinner. We started with a salad on the specials menu, which was good, but not great. My date ordered a dish off the special menu for the evening and it was delicious (pappardelle with lamb and mushrooms), but my gnocchi dish was so salty it was almost inedible. The wine was reasonably priced for NYC (~$55 for a middle of the road Super Tuscan) and the tiramisu was spot on. Overall, not blown away this time."
Dined on 3/19/2013
good but fish smelled as if bad
last time and old!"

in front, helpful staff."
