Diner Reviews
  • "Took my English friend to have afternoon tea. Lovely little sandwiches, good tea and yummy home made scones with clotted cream and jam. A very pleasant afternoon. My friend has had a lot of afternoon teas and she said this one was very good."

  • "Luna Blu is truly the hidden gem in Tiburon. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional. We feel like we are back in Italy whenever we go there. The view off the deck is straight to SF and is comfortable even in the evening with the heat lamps."

  • "Tiburon really has a wealth of great restaurants considering it's a tiny little town. Luna Blu fits right in with Italian seafood and a lovely patio for cuddling in and watching the boats and view. It has a friendly ambiance that's made it a neighborhood hit."

  • "Extensive menu. Comfortable, pleasant outdoor deck with view of the water. Italian waiter actually from Italy and recently arrived. Food delicious and nicely presented. Calamari and zucchini dish recommended."

  • "Took my bride for a Thursday lunch. Fun to get Davide as our waiter again. I had a very nice salad of arugula and hearts of palm with a simple vinaigrette dressing. then I had another appetizer, fried smelts, calamari, and shrimp as my main. great! portion size was a little much for lunch for me personally. finished with the deconstructed goat cheese filled cannoli. mmmmm I've gotta go back for dinner if I can get a reservation..."

  • "For two weeks in a row, we had dinner in downtown Tiburon. Luna Blu was packed the first week, so we made reservations for the next Sunday. The location is charming and the service very good, but the food was mediocre. My wife had fried smelts and calamari, which were the highlight of the dinner. Her Caesar salad was flavorless. I had the chicken tenders in Marsala sauce. There were two pieces of slightly stringy chicken in an uninteresting sauce. The "roasted Brussels sprouts" with panchetta were steamed sprouts with mixed with tough, flavorless pieces of panchetta. We dined with friends who where also disappointed with their meals. The previous week we had dinner at Antonio's just around the corner. It's a much better choice."

  • "I was looking fwd to dining at this restaurant based on rave reviews from others. It turned out to be a bit disappointing. For appetizer we ordered Paranza to share. It consisted of ball of deep fried breaded angel hair pasta & a soft shell crab fried in a batter. Both were undercooked with the outside lukewarm & the inside almost cold. For entré, I had the seafood combo of swordfish, scampi etc. & it was passable but not great. Same went for the Parpardelle with wild boar that my friend had. Also the waiter seemed pretty green, not particularly knowledgeable about the menu. Overall not worth the prices which aren't cheap. It's not a bad place to take visitors just for the ambiance. However, for locals like myself, it's one and done."

  • "Food was good, but not great. Atmosphere and attention to detail (brought my wife a fleece blanket to keep her warm) was great. We would definitely go back even though the food was just okay."

  • "Went for brunch /lunch we couldn't quite believe how wonderful this restaurant is. The best fish(pink trout) in a lemon butter caper sauce I think I ever had and I have eaten in every seafood place in Marin and then some. The chicken Caesar salad was excellent with the large flakes of freshly grated parmesan and crunchy croutons. Our waiter was wonderful, so nice. Also a charming and helpful hostess. We can't wait to go back. If you haven't tried this restaurant yet you must go there, and I would order one of the chef's masterpieces like the fish in a sauce, or the pork medallions or something special, because this chef is an artist and a master. That's what we are going to do. Did I mention the lovely waterfront view?"

  • "I took a client to Luna Blu and the view was beautiful and impressive, although the spacing between tables was very tight. We had a waitress that was less than stellar, however the food was delicious. We had the Eggplant Parm and Filet. The Calamari was so-so. The waitress didn't remember to bring our drink order, and when reminded bought the wrong wine. At the end of our dinner we decided to go elsewhere for dessert since the service was not good. We asked for the check and had to track down the waitress on our way out to settle our bill. We addressed our visit with the owner, who was quite gracious and she took the cost of our drinks off the bill and said that she would address the waitress in an effort to improve service."

  • "This was my first visit . My friend Chuck had been here for dinner the previous Saturday. He introduced me to Crystal as we entered and she gave us a great table for two - sunny, see Angel Island, smell the water. Ahhhh. We split an appetizer - raw sword fish cubes with olives and capers over a bed of ripe avocado and little crisps. Mmmmm My primi was a frittata with mozzarella, fresh asparagus and tomato. MMmmm! Chef Renzo came out to say hi to Chuck. Davide, from Milan two weeks ago, brought dolce - filling if goat cheese, tiny choc chips, with candied orange. served with cannoli chips MMMMM Good friend, good talk, great service, wonderful food, and a killer day. What's not to like with a lunch like this on your day off??"

  • "Have to try this place at least once. Nice ambience, very relaxed, good food, warm hospitality by Crystal, the owner. It feels like home except with a romantic view. A highly recommended good date spot."

  • "I did not think that we could stand another Italian restaurant in Tiburon, but Luna Blu is excellent and though Italian it is different. Love the energy and fun, the hostess and the chef are creating an atmosphere of hospitality and friendliness that is very attractive. Welcome to the hood, Luna Blu!"

  • "I have enjoyed a wonderful dinner here, And the first time I went for tea it was special. But this time we decided we will not go again for tea. Some of the sandwiches were dry, the scones I think had been made ahead and frozen and were cold inside. The clotted cream and jam were fine. The fruit kebobs are not appropriate, little fruit topped custard tarts would be more appealing .Or filled meringues. So definitely will be back for dinner. The hosts are charming and its a nice touch to see the chef and owner. They have done a nice job with the ambience."

  • "This is my second visit to this restaurant. The owners are lovely, the food is delicious, but the service remains pretty bad. It is ridiculously slow. The service spoke decent english but struggled to describe some of the meal items. We ordered two appetisers and literally after 30 min he came back and told us they were out of them. The food is great. I will continue to go back because I want this place to do well. We need more good restaurants in Tiburon. If the service continues to stink I may need to rethink it."

  • "This is a new restaurant where the friendly personable owners ( husband/chef and wife/greeter ) try very hard to make guests feel welcome! Some dishes are very good- Tuscan bean w/mussel soup, Cioppino and many others. Some are still works in progress. Good wine list. It has become a very popular spot so reservations are a must. Caution- when they're busy the staff seems shorthanded and service is slow. Overall, definitely worth a try."

  • "This is a fabulous neighborhood gem with excellent food and magical views of San Francisco. Reservations recommended due to the small size of restaurant, but the small size means each entrée is handcrafted by this very talented chef. Highly Recommended !"

  • "Luna Blu is a lovely addition to Tiburon serving delicious Italian food and seafood. A must try if you love eating meat is the stuffed pork chop! It is huge and actually enough for two people to share. It was tender, moist, and served with a demi glace. Our daughter, who loves clams, enjoyed the Linguine Alle Vongole which had just a touch of spiciness. We also had the fried calamari as an appetizer. The fried zucchini was a nice addition with it. For dessert we had the Tiramisu and the Goat Cheese (I can't remember the actual name), but it was like having a deconstructed cannoli. I LOVED the Goat Cheese dessert and kept scraping the plate until it was clean. The owners, Renzo and Crystal, are very gracious and so welcoming."

  • "A new restaurant has opened recently in Tiburon. How lucky for us! We were there this weekend and dined well. We were first seated inside, and ordered drinks. Longingly looking at the patio overlooking the bay, I asked Crystal, the owner, if we could possibly move outside. She figured out that it was possible, told us to sit tight for a few minutes, and then we were transported to the best table in the house (or so we felt)! We started with a nice caesar salad, had the branzino and the risotto, and a couple of glasses of wine. We were too full for dessert, so we walked along the waterfront to end a wonderful evening. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was romantic, but good for families, as well. A great night!"

  • "The owners (Renzo cooks & Crystal makes everyone welcome) are ever present to ensure their guests are treated well. The food is fresh, interesting and tasty. Views from the deck are fantastic., but you will also enjoy being inside this cozy, comfortable Main Street eatery. Tiburon residents love this new restaurant and keep coming back. Good luck getting a reservation!!!"

  • "We had a great brunch here on Sunday. Food was very good, the service was attentive and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. Luna Blu only opened a few months ago, and clearly the word has not gotten out yet as there were only 2 or 3 tables occupied. Small interior but the outdoor seating was closed due to bad weather - but I'm sure the views are great. Please support this nice new spot in the neighborhood."

  • "What a great find this place is! I had the sea bass and it was done to perfection with a crispy crust and very moist and tender inside. It was sitting atop a bed of cherry tomatoes and mango and the flavors went so well together. My spouse had the boar ravioli and he really enjoyed it. We shared a bowl of Brussels sprouts with pancetta and I could have just eaten that for dinner. So yummy! Crystal, one of the owners, is always so warm and friendly. She really makes you feel at home and ensures you have a great meal. This is my second time here and it is not going to be my last!"

  • "Despite a seemingly inexperienced waiter who didn't hear the "virgin" before "Bloody Mary"', we had a very pleasant experience at this new gem. The initial saving grace was that the co-owner saw us discussing the beverage and stepped in to make sure all was well. She was so gracious that we recovered quickly and moved on. The meal itself was very well prepared. Service was excellent, not so much on the waiter's part (nice guy, did fine, but needs some experience), but the owners are fantastic and kept an eye on everything. We'd return without hesitation."

  • "Our reservation was for 6:15. Very shortly after we arrived, the place became crowded and we waited for a long time for a waiter. Our waiter was not originally assigned to our table, but took it when we told the bus boy that we had not been waited on. At 7 we asked the waiter to deliver the wine. We got our food about 7:15 or so. We were offered a free dessert due to the poor service. When the gelatto / pear dish arrived, the pear was warm on one side and cold on the other. In a first for me, the waiter came to our table before we left and apologized for the poor service! With that admission, he turned out to be the bright spot in a very poor dining experience. I thanked him for that."

  • "We went on Valentine's Day. Open Table did not alert us that it would be a special menu. The menu was limited and disappointing. All the fish dishes were in a cream sauce, not the way I enjoy fish. Service was slow."

  • "Our first visit to Luna Blu was first-rate. We had a table on the deck, under efficient heat lamps, with a view of city lights and a starry night. While there was not as much seafood and fish on the menu as we had anticipated, our meals were very good. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return."

  • "Enjoyed a romantic, delicious dinner on the deck. Excellent food & wine, with a killer view. I wouldn't have been as happy inside, but the outside dining was a fabulous time, and more than I had hoped for."

  • "The food and service were great. Menu has a good variety. Only draw back is it is a tiny place and dinning inside can feel a bit cramped -but the outside space is less cramped, has outdoor heaters, and has lovely bay views. Best for small parties of 2 to 4 people tops. I will definitely go again."

  • "The owners asked us to leave almost immediately when we finished eating and paid the bill because another couple was waiting for our table. It's true--the restaurant is small, with few tables. But I do not see that as a reason for ungraciously turning over the tables as quickly as possible, especially when we had spent nearly $100 on a Monday night on dinner, drinks and dessert. Quite unprofessional."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner recently at Luna Blu. The staff was gracious and the food excellent. The octopus carpaccio was fantastic and set the stage for a great evening. We dined comfortably under the heat lamps on the patio with a charming view of San Francisco. Luna Blu is a great addition to Tiburon."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant with a comfortable feel and an amazing chef. Our salads, appetizer and entrees were really delicious. The sauces are superb. Unfortunately the service really needs help. We had to ask for water for the table two times and inquired on bread for the table and our waitress said, Oh that never arrived? So, we will return for the wonderful cuisine and hope that the service does improve."

  • "This is the latest entry to the Tiburon dining scene serving lunch and dinner. Our first visit was a delight and although the food was well presented and very tasty (Siciliano menu) the noise level was etergetic++. The husband (chef) wife (out front) team are definately off to a good start judging from our experience the the crowd that accompanied us. The chioppino I had was deeelish as was the baby arugula saladl."

  • "...At least that's what it sounded like when I looked up the reviews of the newly opened Luna Blu in Tiburon. My first visit was a realty check to see whether this hype was justifiable or not. Here is my observation: The food was okay but didn't exceed the one of so many neighborhood Italian restaurants. The service was friendly and professional. I would go there again, but next time with a lower expectation."
