A word from Lun Wah Restaurant and Tiki Bar
There are reasons why the Lun Wah Restaurant has been in business since 1974. Those reasons become quite apparent almost immediately upon entering the restaurant. You forget, for a moment, you're in Roselle, NJ and are quickly taken away to the scenic atmosphere of the beautiful Polynesian Islands. The Hawaiian feel and tone is captured perfectly by the Lun Wah's decor, consisting
of real bamboo which layers the walls, lovely pictures of the Islands, and a beautiful natural rock running waterfall in which water falls into a fish pond with real fish. There is a bamboo bar with hanging colored blowfish lamps, which serves the best drinks in town, waiters greet you donning colorful Hawaiian shirts and the final touch- the restaurant's lighting, which is dimly lit creating the ambience and setting of an evening in Polynesian paradise. Great local place in Roselle for excellent Chinese and Polynesian food. Very Hawaiianesque type place. The Grand Mariner shrimp was outstanding! We got a pu pu platter for 4 which was very good. The Mai Tai's and Blue Hawaiian drinks were tasty. They do take out as well. Highly suggest you check this place out if you are looking for a fun night on with friends.

Take a trip down memory lane for a place that time forgot. I have been coming here since I was a child and not much has changed. Tiki Bar, Godfish Pond, friendly service and excellant food. The spare ribs are some of the best I have ever had. Family atmosphere, nice quiet bar, and nice portions of fresh and well prepared food.

Food was good, Service was poor. The staff wasn't familiar with the Yelp discounts, and I spent a fair share of time trying to get my bill adjusted.

Not your average fast food Asian Restaurant or meal. The choices range from Filet Mongon to typical chicken wings. The food and taste is well above the average fast places. Nice for family or a date night since there is a jungle like feel in the restaurant for cozy and intimate conversations.

Lun Wah is decorated magnificently in a tiki style! Bamboo, tikis and seashells make this a fun, kitschy place to eat! There's pufferfish lamps over the bar too. The food is good, the drinks disappointing but overall worth a visit if you're into all things tiki.

Went here to celebrate my daughter's graduation. I have heard from friends that they loved the place and recommended it. When we got there it was dark, tired looking and for lack of a better word "sticky". The food was okay, our regular take out place is better. The service was very good.

We finally found that good old fashion sit down Chinese restaurant! It's like a step back in time. Wish they had more "Polynesian" food. The appetizers rule! Scallion pancakes, shrimp toast and winter melon soup were great! Huge portions, so count in sharing or taking home leftovers. It looked like everyone was taking a bag home. The duck was not good but not my favorite way of preparing it.

The Lun Wah brings back happy memories, both in the variety and quality of food and drinks offered and the old bamboo/South Pacific booths and decor. They have one of the best Pu Pu Platters we have ever tasted - generous portions and deliciously cooked. The place is getting a little long in the tooth since it's located in one of the first shopping malls ever in NJ (and has been there I heard, since it opened), but it is clean and you'll fall in love with it. Caution - it is on a one-way street, so just take your time finding parking if using a GPS, etc. One of the few places left that I know of where you can get the tropical drinks with the umbrellas, including the famous Volcano (but have a designated driver to be safe)!

  • Amazing Polynesian in Roselle!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 2/14/2014
This has become my favorite neighborhood spot for Polynesian/Chinese food in Roselle. The place is decorated with a 60's Polynesian kitchy theme that reminds me of the Polynesian in Disney. There are tiki masks galore, bamboo, and a rock fountain by the entrance! The food is good, and moderately priced. However, you should come here for the drinks! They have a volcano drink that is MASSIVE for $13.50 thats on fire and tastes like heaven. The one thing that needs improvement is the bathrooms. But, if you can overlook that, your in for an amazing time at Lun Wah!

  • Hard to evaluate service as

Hard to evaluate service as it was New Year's Eve and quite crowded. Waiters were friendly and accommodating but the number of customers was too much for the kitchen and staff to handle. Our food came out one person at a time. The first person served at our table was just about done eating before the second person got served, which was a repeating pattern as the food came out of the kitchen. All in all, the waiters did their best to cope with the crowd but they had added a lot of extra tables to the restaurant and the crowd was too much for the place to handle.
