  • Private Party Facilities: We offer a semi-private dining room with capacity for a maximum of 35 guests. Menus begin at $75 per person for a 3 course dinner with 2 pre-selected choices per course. Guests may also select passed hors d'oeuvres and specialty cocktails for a pre-dinner cocktail hour. Our menu changes daily and with the seasons depending on availability of products.

Lumiere is a casually elegant, upscale neighborhood bistro featuring modern-French cuisine, an extensive wine list as well as a full bar. We also offer a semi-private dining room that can comfortably accommodate up to 35 guests.

  • "We celebrated a family occasion at Lumiere. The food was wonderful, the wine suggestions spot-on, and they were great about accommodating the well-behaved 9 month old who was part of our party. I'd made an early reservation and asked for a high chair, and we were sat so that there was room for us all and enough distance from other diners in case the baby got chatty. (She didn't.). We had a lovely time, everything was delicious, and Tim, our server, was friendly & gracious. It's not someplace to bring a new baby or a running toddler, but we appreciated the accommodation so we could celebrate as a whole family."

  • "I ordered a special. It was a veal chop. Another veal item was 38.00 so I figured it would be around the same price point give or take. First of all there was so much grissle and fat that I gagged on my food and had to spit it into the napkin. The part I could eat was good but not great..maybe a 6/10. When we got the bill and saw that my entree was a whopping 80 bills I almost fell over. I dod not mind paying big cash for a delicacy but a special that is more than twice what anything else on the menu costs, should be explained by the waiter. More importantly, it was not worth the extra cost. The service was fine but there was nothing I ate that would make me come back especially at those surprise prices."

  • "I have eaten here at least 5 times, mainly for special occasions, and I am constantly amazed at how good their food is. I had the chef's tasting menu this time while my co-diners had the prix fix menu, one with the wine pairing. They were generous with their portion size and we left completely sated. They served us individualized bites/snacks with our aperitif and the plating for each course was very attractive. The staff were friendly and efficient, never missing a beat, but we were not rushed at all. I would highly recommend Lumiere."

I loved my striped bass entree but I could tell my three companions were meh about theirs (porgy, steak, scallops). If I could afford it, I'd happily go back and try some of the other things, and I really liked the room, and the service was good. close to the movies, which makes for a fun evening combination possibility. random detail: be careful crossing the street there (seriously) - the interesection has a design flaw which can lead to cars blowing through the signalled crosswalk."

  • "my husband and i had a gc for lumiere, and we decided to give it a try. we were not disappointed. i started out with the scallops which were cooked just right. hubby started with the oysters. I had the bison short ribs on polenta which were amazing. hubby had the bass which was also amazing. of course we had the chocolate cake for dessert. very rich, so we decided to split it. my one complaint was I felt a bit rushed. our reservation was for 6:45. we were done by 8:00. While I realize that it is a small restaurant, and on a saturday night you want to get as many people in as possible, i also feel as though if i'm going to pay $28.00 for an entree, and $50 for a bottle of wine, then I do not want to be rushed."

  • "We visited Lumiere after reading a good review in the Boston Globe, but we have to disagree with the food critic. Our scallops were dry and stringy from being overcooked. The chocolate cake could have been bought at the grocery store. Our entrees (steak with frites and chicken with gruyere mashed potatoes) were good but not worth what they cost. For a tab that comes out to over $50 per person, we expect much better."

  • "Our appetizer (scallops) and dessert (chocolate cake with coconut ice cream) were outstanding, but our entrees (sole and veal) were good, but not great. Our waiter was very impersonal and seemed distracted. When he brought our dessert with a candle, he said he wasn't sure whose celebration it was, or what was being celebrated, so "Happy, happy." But when we left, the maitre d' wished me a happy birthday (which I had said it was on my Open Table reservation), so obviously the waiter could have found out if he'd half tried. Not our best experience with this restaurant, but certainly very good."

This visit was unique in that I sat at the bar and enjoyed the chefs tasting menu and perfectly matched wine flight - an experience I would highly recommend and look forward to duplicating. The bar has only 4 or 5 seats but affords a view into the kitchen where you can watch the magic happen."

  • "We have been to Lumiere many times and always love it. It is consistently excellent. Perhaps the best restaurant west of Boston- The waitstaff is very experienced, professional, and appropriately formal (not my best friend, my server...) On this night we ordered a bottle of medium priced wine and after drinking a glass I told the waiter I was not crazy about it and he offered to take it back at no charge. While I declined I appreciated his sincere interest and generous offer. Not many restaurants will do that. The food as usual was excellent- not too fancy but delicious and served up hot and timely."

The menu was not exciting and I did not go to an upscale restaurant to eat lamb shanks but this was the best of the choices. the dessert was fabulous. I have wanted to go to this restaurant for some time and now that I have been there I do not intend to return. It is expensive but not worth the cost. Very disappointing."

  • "Always good. One of my four favorite restaurants in the Boston area. We have been coming to this restaurant for at least 7 years and have never had a bad meal. On this visit we shared braised beef and veal tenderloin, both properly cooked, nicely presented and with the appropriate sauces. It is a great place for special occasions or just a fine dinner with friends. Excellent service staff too."

  • "My wife and I had not been back to Lumiere for several years and were shocked to find it now had more of a bistro environment. Simple, two-person tables were prepared in the most spartan fashion imaginable -- no table cloth, silverware wrapped up in a napkin like a luncheonette. Our waiter was perfectly cordial but was dressed very casually in jeans that practically fell off his hips. The icing on the cake given the price point of this restaurant -- prix fixe at $80 per person plus $35 for the wine pairing -- was our check being delivered as a small piece of paper from a cashier's ribbon and placed directly on the table. In sum, the food itself was very good, but given the price point we would have expected a more refined dining experience."

Loved the Chef's tasting menu and the wine pairing. I'm not much into red wine so had few sips of that.
