A word from Lumiere
Since 1995 Lumierè has been synonymous with fine dining in Vancouver. Lumiere reopened in December 2008 in partnership with Chef Daniel Boulud and proprietors David and Manjy Sidoo. Building on a tradition of excellence in cuisine under Executive Chef Dale MacKay and service under General Manager Chris Gonzalez, Lumiere offers both a la carte dining and extensive tasting menus inspired by the wealth of seasonal produce, meats and seafood available in the local market. An extensive wine list focusing on Canadian, American, and French wines complements the cuisine. Lumiere is honoured to be recognized by both Relais & Châteaux and Traditions & Qualité. For more casual dining, try our sister restaurant DB BISTRO MODERNE located adjacent to Lumierè.

One of the best restaurant in Vancouver, if not in Canada. Might be considered a bit overpriced but the quality of the food and service definitely makes you forget the expensive tab in the end. Too bad this restaurant is closing. I am glad I got to go one last time before it shuts down.

We went to Lumiere on its second last night before closing and had one of the outstanding meals of our lives. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived for our reservation at 8:30 and we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. However, we enjoyed a glass of wine in the bar at next door affiliate DB Moderne. The delay was because previous diners were all ordering the 7 course tasting menu, since it was their last chance, and we did the same. The meal was terrific and the wait was well worth it.I can't begin to describe the seven courses in a way that would do them justice. I'll only say that each was a great combination of tastes and textures and they were served with style. Lumiere, Vancouver will miss you. So sad to see you go.

Best $550 meal (with tip) my wife and I have had in a while. We both had the 5-course. I had the premium wine pairing. Everything was excellent. This was our first time and I'm sure now that we've been, we'd find a way to afford going back once every few years if they weren't closing. At least we got to go once...

although food was adequate, in compariuson to other Vancouver restaurants of the same style/genre we found Lumiere over-priced. 5 course menu for $115, in reality it was probably worth $75 to $80.

Food and service are perfect everytime I dine there. I had the Citrus Cured Hamachi, Duo of AAA Prime Beef, and Hot and Cold Tiramisu Sundae. Though this is not the first time I had this menu, but I absolutely love the food. It is really sad to see it closes this week. It has been my favorite restaurant, and I go there to celebrate special occasion. The dining experience is intimate and attentive. It leaves me with fond memories everytime. Also, this is the only restaurant that would provide the lady with a little stand to put the handbag, so we don't need to leave it on the floor! Drew is wonderful, he is friendly, very professional, and always has a great smile!!

Food was superb. The Maitre D was wonderful and very helpful. Although most diners were in couples our larger group of 7 was accommodated easily. When ordering it was no problem when 1 of our group had dietary requirements, they just gave a different & suitable alternative, of equal quality for this person. It was a wonderful culinary experience.

I was surprised and very pleased when I walked in to find that it was very small and very quiet. Our waiter had a great attitude and knew a lot about wine and did a great job explaining the characteristics of the wine pairings. The food was to die for. Will definitely go again, once I save up the money.

We celebrated our 1st year anniversary and it was our first time at Lumiere. What a wonderful experience! I loved that the staff was so knowledgeable about the food and the wine. They seemed happy to oblige to answer our questions about the prep and the ingredients. And they even had a special dessert treat for us to help us celebrate. The tastes were amazing (BC Sablefish melts in your mouth!)and the presentation was inspiring (the hot and cold tiramusu sundae with the chocolate "lid"). Even though they had set chef menus, the options varied, and they had 3 different menus to choose from (we chose the 7-course menu). It was a very special night and we hope to go back again.

My friend and I have been enjoying Lumiere for many years. However, this visit was our first since Daniel Boulud took over the reigns from founding owner/chef Rob Feenie. Chef Feenie made his mark with an inventive menu that highlighted the best of local seasonal ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. In Lumiere, he also created a restaurant that was as stylish and sumptuous as his food. For these reasons, Lumiere seems like the natural choice for Chef Boulud to stake his claim on the North American West Coast. Under Boulud's auspices, Lumiere moves forward with creative seasonal menus in a modern venue that pairs attention to detail with impeccable service. The food plays on both flavors and textures. Beautiful room and nice service. The food is not fantastic--very, very tiny and extremely expensive ($115 per plate per person) and frankly rather bland...however, the great company and local sparkling wine made up for the dissappointing food and prices. For the money you have many, many other choices in Vancouver that would rate much higher.

The kitchen was flawless in its execution of the seven course menu that we each chose for dinner and the presentations were stunning. I went in with high expectations and was not disappointed! This rarely happens at this level. Thank you Drew and Courtney and the rest of the staff [bussers, back waiters, front desk, and kitchen and the lovely waitress who volunteered to help with a group photo] for making our evening so special. We chose the 7 course dinner with matching wine pairings. We thought the menu fit us better than the 5 course. The dishes were delicious, creative, and sumptuous--at the highest level. The sablefish was memorable, and the duck and beef dishes were wonderful, but every dish held its own in terms of flavors and presentation. Unfortunately, the food/wine became just too much for us after the fifth course. The dining experience is fabulous and the service is attentive and gracious. Be prepared for a very expensive meal and an exceptional epicurean experience.
