Diner Reviews
  • "Have been here for dinner quite a few times and I'm always impressed by the outstanding service and fabulous food!"

  • "We know it was Summerlicious so were totally expecting it to be busy. We were seated on time and ordered right when we sat down. 15 minutes later, not even a drink was out and another staff noticed us looking around so was able to track down our drinks. A full 45 minutes after ordering, we received out main course. We ended taking our dessert to go. The food was tasty and the location was beautiful though!"

  • "Very good at accommodating allergies! When I first saw the menu I was concerned, being gluten free, but they substituted sides and even made me gluten free gravy. :)"

  • "Service was slow at first but when we were finally acknowledged we were on our way! Drinks and appetizers are good and hits the spot. Will try Luma for more food next time."

  • "My family were in Toronto to see a Mirvish production. We met for dinner at Luma and had a great meal, but spent time lingering and chatting after our meal. It was wonderful."

  • "Took my friend out to Summerlicious here. Was my first time at Luma. Sat on the patio which was noisy since King St. is very busy during the weekends. The appetizer and main course was fantastic. Didn't really like the dessert that I had originally ordered but the waitress noticed that I didn't liked it and gave me another dessert to try. That was very awesome of her. 2 thumbs up to that!"

  • "We were quite late for our reservation (due to a small emergency involving several 1cm big blisters on the feet) but the waiter greeted us with a smile. On our way to the table, he recommended the octopus salad, and we were seated comfortably at the patio. The patio was very nice, and the atmosphere was very refreshing. The service was great, with the waiter checking up on us without imposing too much. The service was quick, but not rushing, which was nice. I enjoyed the food too: I had the octopus salad, beef short ribs, and chocolate parfait. The octopus salad was indeed very good, and the short ribs and vegetables too. I loved the chocolate parfait."

  • "What was so outstanding about my experience at Luma is that not only the food was good but the service that we recevied was excellence. It was personal, friendly and all waiting staff have an excellence knowledge of the menu. For example, my friend had glutein allergies, the waiter was very patient and knowledgable in explaining the food items and ingredients contained in all food items listed in the menu. Moreover, he was very knowledgable about parring wine with food."

  • "Great summerlicious price. Apps were TERRIBLE... the cucumber/coconut soup was just gross (bland and lumpy), and the cold noodle salad was worse. The Fried Chicken (main course) was good.. the biscuit though, was dry and tasteless. Dessert was amazing. Service was amazing- nicest staff. Atmosphere was great, especially for couples."

  • "This was my first time and I tried it for summerlicious. From the hostess, to the waitress, server and my takeaway latte, service was superb - the quality you expect of a high-end restaurant and that of an O&B restaurant. I will definitely come back and again!"

  • "We went here for summerlicious and for $20, the meal was not bad. My husband had an octopus salad and he liked the play of textures. I had the cold soba which was so so. For the main course, my husband had the short ribs. The portions were generous. The flavor could be improved. I had the buttermilk fried chicken. The chicken was tender but I found some traces of blood near the bone which turned me off. For dessert, my husband had the stilton with berry compote. Good but nothing creative. I had the sundae which was so so. But for the price, I cannot complain. I just wish they put in more creativity into the dishes next time around."

  • "I took my best friend to Luma for her 35th birthday. I made my reservations through Open Table and requested a table by the windows to take in the street action. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, who walked us to a nice banquet table. Almost immediately, our waiter, Vegar, appeared with menus and proceeded to deliver the best service ever! We had the Summerlicious menu and it was fantastic! I'm pregnant and continuously drink water and I never once had to flag down Vegar for him to come refill my glass: he just paid careful attention the entire time, ensuring our comfort. My best friend raved about her memorable dinner all night, which came complete with a glass of champagne on the house. Bravo, Luma! We will most certainly be back:)"

  • "I booked summerlicious there. When I came in, around 1:20pm, they asked my name so the OPEN TABLE didn't have my dining record..The soup tasted wired. And the main course, was served on 2:40pm. Yes, I waited for more than one hour for that....And the Ramen was like instant noodle with too much sauce...Another table had the same problem. They were complaining it's ridiculous. It's the worst summerlicious experience I had ever."

  • "We went to Luma during summerlicious for their lunch fixed menu. The food was excellent! Nothing too crazy on the menu but made deliciously. For appetizers we tried the chilled soup, noodle bowl, and octopus salad which were all good, particularly the octopus. Yum! The mains were even better. While some people were a bit disappointed with the appetizers, the mains satisfied all. Most of us had the tuna which was blue, but amazing! Worked perfectly with the ingredients. My sister had the beef and loved it. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, only complaint was that she did not fill up the wine glasses as regularly as some in our party would have liked."

  • "Great food and service! The servers were cheery and helpful and seemed happy to be there. It was a bit noisy because there was a bit of traffic below on the street and people were honking a lot, but it didn't negate the quality of the food. The portions were more than enough too. Fantastic Summerlicious find!"

  • "Aside from absolutely delicious food (every course was amazing - you must try the octopus appetizer and the scallops entree) we had what was probably the best service we'd had anywhere in a long time!"

  • "Went here on a Thursday night, pre-show. We were only a group of 3. The problem is that, despite having 20+ staff frolicking around, only 2 of them are actually allowed to take orders and give you the check. As our "waitress" was busy with another table, we waited 20 mins to orders drinks, 40 mins to order food and then 40 mins for the food to come! Not what you'd expect from such a classy establishment. We were almost late for our show. That being said, the food was lovely."

  • "We went to Luma for my wife's 30 birthday. We were greeted nicely. The male server who brought us champagne to celebrate was very nice. The server who brought our food however was not good at all. There was quite a bit of wait time after apps, so much so that we almost wanted more bread to tidy us over. Once dinner was over, we wanted to go, but she insisted on giving us the dessert menu and didn't even attempt to go over desserts. Very poor service. Food was fantastic! Loved my roast chicken. And wife had the halibut! The male server's service will persuade us to come back."

  • "We always enjoy LUMA. Food and service always top notch and we enjoy the fact that the place leaves you room to breathe...it is spacious so you never feel cramped. If I had one small criticism it is that your waiter/waitress tends to come and go, but other than that we love going there and have been many times now."

  • "Location & seating were fine Waiter pleasant but had to wait for almost 35 mins before appetizer served Then another prolonged waiting before main course arrived And in spite of the restaurant being only half full!!! The special of the day Friday 13 June ordered by husband was a pasta tuna concoction swamped with sliced h Pasta too al dente for his taste Ditto for the bizarre taste for the Tuna I returned to Luma because the dinner my husband and I had on our first visit to Luma in April was excellent but after the present experience would be loathe to return or recommend Luma to friends"

  • "we were celebrating a birthday at the restaurant. the staff was very warm and welcoming, service was prompt, food was excellent! most notable are the suckling pig, beef ribs and mushroom side dish. dont be fooled by the understated description of the dark chocolate bar dessert. i wouldn't have ordered this dessert based on the decription, but our server brought this to us for the birthday celebration. this was the best dish of the night! looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "Always a good time at Luma. The staff noticed the comments regarding my mother's birthday and surprised her with a small dessert which really made her smile. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive, and patient with us. The rabbit, pasta and beef short rib dishes were superb. The tenderloin special was slightly overdone, but we did not fuss over it due to the positive and warm hospitality that won us over (as always). A good reliable O&B destination."

  • "The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. I have never had such kind and attentive service from a restaurant. I was there on June 2 2014. I will definitely go back. Yes, a little pricey for lunch but well worth it!"

  • "We went prior to a performance. They accommodated our special dietary needs - no problem. The food was amazing. I highly recommend everything on the menu! We had trouble trying to choose and will definitely come back to taste the rest of the menu. Our server, Tran is incredible, friendly and made the experience even better. She is knowledgable about the wine and food and her recommendations were perfect. The room itself is lovely and comfortable. We look forward to returning and enjoying another fabulous evening when we have the luxury of lingering over the gorgeous dishes. Well worth it!"

  • "Waitress was great. Main courses, (chicken; seafood pasta) a bit too salty for our taste. The chicken dish was OK but would have preferred to have some more vegetables and a potato or rice to round it out. Daughter loved the scallops."

  • "Luma remains an excellent addition to the Entertainment District and it's wonderful to have it conveniently in the under-rated Bell Lightbox (a truly unique Toronto destination). It's always my choice for a meal before seeing a film at the Lightbox. Chef Michael Wilson continues to innovate and improve the menu - his latest version has some excellent new additions. Definitely recommended."

  • "My 80 something parents were visiting from Europe and I was looking for somewhere to take them for my birthday celebration lunch that was Toronto chic, with great ambience, a great view, great food and not too noisy. Luma was the only downtown location I could think of that might fit the bill. It met all of my expectations and more. The meals, the service and ambience were fantastic! It's also very accessible! I would recommend it in a heartbeat!"

  • "Somewhat disappointed with the chicken entry. Chicken ,I my opinion, was bland. The fingerling potatoes needed more seasoning My dining partner, had scallops which she thought were excellency, both in taste and presentation. Loved the dessert"

  • "While the atmosphere was incredible and the food was delicious the service was absolutely fantastic! We must have had about 6 different people bring us our food, water, menus, and even taking our plates away. Our actual server who took our orders was funny, conversational and seemed to really enjoy what she was doing. "
