Diner Reviews
  • "Great night! Went for a business dinner. Service is amazing! Cocktails and food are creative and delicious! Will definitely be back but will take my husband next time! "

  • "The food, service and ambience are perfect. I have never had a bad meal here. And the servers and managers are so great. They even remembered me the last time I came back. There steak is delicous. I have gone on my own on my way home just to eat their steak. Definitely recommend this restaurant out of all the O & B restaurants."

  • ""My Husband and I really loved this place" the decor and space where interseting and quality without being over whelming. I felt very comfortable all the while feeling fancy! I always enjoy O & B restaurants and this was no exception. The interesting yet familar menu invites you to try something you haven't before. The waiter offered just the right amount of attention, gave excellent recommendations. The timing of the food coming out was perfect, and everything was hot and flavourful. I will come back with out a doubt"

  • "Perfect for before or after a movie. Very expensive martinis, so be prepared."

  • "Located at the TIFF Lightbox, very convenient to take in a fine dinner and a movie."

  • "Great downtown spot. Near the office. The food is unique, tastes great. Presentation is always lovely. Healthy options. I'm gluten and dairy free and had no problem finding something and everyone else had lots of options. Knowledgable, friendly, professional staff. They always have a delicious soup option. Portion sizes are good. Open concept restaurant. Lots of space between tables."

  • "There's a reason we keep going back! Deliciously inspired creative dishes that dance on your taste buds. Luma makes incredible soup - even when their daily feature is not something I would normally have, I still order it and am blown away."

  • "Delicious food with a beautiful sophisticated ambiance."

  • "A colleague and I dined here last Thursday and had a really enjoyable time. Neither of us had been before but I've been a Tiff member for about a year and had often wondered what it was like as I made my way past the entrance on my way to see a movie. All I can say is that I wish I'd given in to my curiosity earlier - it's superb. Everything was excellent from start to finish - the welcome, the space, the service, the menu, the food, the wine. I particularly like that the (strikingly large) room is designed in such a way that even when it's busy and buzzing, you can still have a sensible conversation without shouting. I wholeheartedly recommend Luma; in fact I can't wait to go back."

  • "Consistent with good food & service each time I bring guests for lunch or dinner."

  • "I always like Luma, but it's worth the drive in crazy downtown and highway traffic to go there for a good meal. The ginger and carrot soup was very good, my husband's lobster burger was delicious. My boneless ribs were dry, wish it was more juicy. The lemon tart with pistachio ice cream was to die for. Overall, I enjoy this dinner very much."

  • "The food is amazing, of course. The standard menu has fun, diverse choices any of which would please, but the daily specials are so well thought-out that you just have to know what they are each time you go. The service is what makes the real difference though - personal, attentive, and fun."

  • "We've been to Luma now many times (typically at least once a month), and not only is the service, food and atmosphere excellent, but consistently so. The service in particular is outstanding."

  • "For the high price, the food portions were way too small."

  • "Order the Burrata. Don't ask questions, just trust me, order the Burrata! I am from Toronto and have tried restaurants all over the city. Luma is one of my favourites. It is consistently good, from the food to the service. Order the Burrata!"

  • "our intial server was very friendly, but no wine was ever offered, when i asked much later, another server was not all familiar with the wine list the cauliflower soup was excellent, the ribs were no succulent, and also not really ribs, the scallops tasted as though they had been frozen and were stringy and overcooked. for the money, the food was awful i have eaten here before and the food was fine, although more expensive than other restaurants with this calibre of food all the servers were very friendly"

  • "I have eaten at this restaurant 3 times prior to going to the theatre and every time the service is great. There is not much ambiance, seems like a good place for a corporate dinner. The tables are all out in the open and the restaurant is well lit giving a less intimate feeling. I would have rated the food a 3 + but there is no option for that. I find that the main food is good but then there is always that extra dollop of something on top that for me doesn't work. I have recommended this place to friends and they have all commented that it was nice to try but they rather not go back. Sorry."

  • "Luma was absolutely fabulous, so good in fact that we went back a second time during our recent stay in Toronto. The food and wine were outstanding, and the service just right--attentive but not overbearing. The dishes were creative and extremely well prepared and presented. We very much appreciated the staff's approach to customer comfort. We will definitely be back in future trips and will recommend Luma to everyone we know."

  • "We had a great time at Luma. We sat in the lounge as the main dining room was booked with a party and we are just as happy we did. The ambiance was friendly and comfortable, not too noisy. Seats comfortable. The wait staff were efficient and pleasant and did not rush our meal. Food was well prepared and tasty. Two of us had the beef short rib - very tender and not too salty. Daughter had the special - squid ink pasta which she loved. I had the tuna which was also very tender and full of flavour. We will definitely go back."

  • "This was our first time at Luma. We were hosting an out of town guest and this was an amazing spot to showcase Toronto. The manager, Lee, introduced himself upon our arrival and showed us to our table. Him and the team did an amazing job to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately I don't remember our waitresses name but she was amazing. Friendly, helpful, attentive. The food was incredible. Thank you O&B"

  • "The first sign was walking into a relatively large restaurant at 7pm and having it be almost completely empty. The service was pleasant and fast. The food was mediocre, and the cost was way too high. It was almost $100 for two mains and two drinks. I suppose I should have expected that given the high profile owners and touristy location. I would not recommend this to anyone, for any reason. There are many many places nearby with better food for less, or more unique offerings for a comparable amount of money."

  • "This wasn't my first time to Luma, but it was my first time for dinner. It was lovely to be greeted by name by the hostess ("You must be Karen"). Our server noticed right away that I had a birthday present with me and made sure to enquire whose birthday it was. Again, lovely. Wonderful vodka martini..served generously too! Nice wine list...and my BFF and I had a hard time deciding what to order because all our faves were on the menu...scallops, steak frites, lamb, ravioli, celeric soup, roasted beets...YUM. I had the Honey Charred Chicken and my friend had the Scallops...and she also had the lemon cake for dessert and pronounced it to die for. We love Luma!"

  • "Most lunch hours are only one hour long. This one took 1.5 hours and I don't think it should have considering it was Winterlicious and the menu is smaller. Our food took a long time and we had arrived at 12:15 before the big rush. It took some time for the server to clear our finished plates even though he was serving the table next to us quite frequently. He was nowhere to be found upon finishing dessert, so we waited for a while to ask for the bill and in the end had to flag another server down in order to pay. I expect more from Luma. I won't be returning for lunch because it simply takes too long."

  • "The best mouthwatering juicy tender steak I ever had in my life and the fries with all the herbs on it was just amazing!"

  • "Went here before the show at the Roayal Alex. The server was fantastic and engaging. We shared appitizers and they split them for us. The meals were real well presented and the servings were sizable. Dessert selections were very good which made choices very hard. We would come again."

  • "We were here for Winterlicious and able to sample some of the great dishes, e.g. rainbow trout - absolutely delicious."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "Went here for v-day. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the short ribs I had were a bit dry in the middle. My gf's trout was delicious. Service was excellent. We were seated in the lounge which was a bit disappointing and so the music was a bit loud. Otherwise, great experience."

  • "The service is good, but the food seems not reaching the quality as it charges."

  • "I feel like winterlicious offers diners to try restaurants that they normally wouldn't go to because of the price. While you get to dine at "fancier", "special" restaurants, you do so at the cost of potentially sub-par food and service compared to a regular service. Winterlicious lunch at LUMA, while the service was great, the food was sorta lacking. It's unfair to "review" a restaurant from a licious meal so I won't. I've been to LUMA before and loved it and will hold onto that experience until the next meal here. :)"

  • "Last minute reservation to go with 1/2 price Mirvish tickets. Last day of Winterlicious and really enjoyed the menu, which featured wine matching which we enjoy. Only negative was our main course arrived before our wine and our coffees were so late that they took them off the bill. Service in general was very good, with a complimentary coat check and the waiters were aware we had a curtain and other than the beverage/course gap the meal was well paced. Not sure what the problem was as the restaurant was not jam packed. Would definitely go again and will likely be our go to King Street restaurant for theatre nights. Very pretty restaurant, well spaced tables, parking across the street on John or easy transit access."

  • "The service was excellent, however the food was unremarkable... it 'sounded' good with many interesting flavours but frankly there was no wow factor . Had the turnip salad, the chicken and the goat cheese dessert..."

  • "I have always enjoyed the light eats at LUMA lounge, and was awaiting a chance to try out the full deal in the restaurant. Despite the fact that Winterlicious, unfortunately, is so often a mediocre representation of what a restaurant is capable of we decided to take this as an opportunity to get into LUMA for a full dinner. There was nothing mediocre about this meal in any way. Each dish was beautifully composed and plated, with layers and flavour combinations that were absolutely inspiring (I am a make-believe home chef and this is how I get my inspiration) If LUMA can pull this off for a menu engineered to be "easy" for a crowd, I am definitely going to want to return to see what they are doing on a regular menu. Bravo!"

  • "Excellent for the atmosphere and service. The food was fair but too expensive for what it was. Wine : the same. The list of the wine is great but really too expansive. Example : a classic Valpolicella 2011 (18$ for a LCBO bottle) is 35$ for an HALF BOTTLE at Luma. I understand they have to make a profit, but in this case it is too much, and this example is the cheapest choice!"

  • "The food at Luma is outstanding and so is the service. We went there for a "winterlicious' lunch and they served it up fast, fresh, tasty and tasteful. I had been there before for dinner and it was fantastic! When I saw it was offering a winterlicious lunch I decided to take my friend for her birthday. She also enjoyed it and the wine! I would go there once a week if it was possible."

  • "The service at Luma was excellent! We weren't sure whether we'd be offered the Winterlicious menu as we booked through Open Table. Some restaurants cap the number of Winterlicious diners. The food was delish and what you would expect from a classy restaurant. Thank you!"

  • "We had a family dinner at Winterlicious and it was excellent. I cannot wait to go back to try the regular menu. The atmosphere was great, service was fantastic."

  • "All restaurants take note. When you participate in Winterlicious, you should feature your regular menu items. Luma did just that. Ate there twice in two days and ordered the wonderful trout salad. Delicious both times. Attentive staff and wonderful atmosphere. Well done. Great for clients and special occasions. I will definitely be back."
