TheI loved the the food. The Beet Salad is delicious! Hands down Luma had the best service I have ever experienced. I was blown away by the knowledge the servers had about the menu. Not only that but they genuinely seemed to love the food and got excited talking about it. One of my friends did not like her main, it was just a personal taste preference and not any fault of the restaurant. The manager and the server noticed she did not eat a lot of her main dish and insisted they take her meal off the bill even though she thought that unfair to them because the food was great, just not for her palette. They also brought us out a free dessert to share. The muskox and halibut were perfectly cooked. I was surprised that the waitress called me by name (from the reservation) - it was a very nice touch. The service was very attentive and engaging. The portion size was right and food cooked to perfection. Service was attentive, helpful, not intrusive. We went there at 5:00 for a 7:00 show and made it in perfect time, although getting our bill at the end was a little slow for some odd reason. I think it was the large party that came in after us. Our pleasant experience began with an introduction to our cheerful waitress, whose enthusiasm was contagious. The service was attentive, and well-timed. Our water glasses were always refilled at just the right moment. The best surprise for us was receiving a complimentary flute of Prosecco (each) to raise a toast in honor of our special occasion. What a nice gesture it was from Luma! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, including the tuna appetizer, the jalapeno soup, and the steak-frites, and arctic char main courses. The food is amazing. The place looks great. The huge windows bring in fantastic light from outside to compliment the terrific decor and atmosphere inside. The staff is always so friendly and attentive. The hostesses seat you right away, which means to me that the reservation system is really organized. No annoying long waits to get a table. We're two 50+ suburbanites, joining my high flying nephew on business from Europe. There was great space and airiness in the restaurant so immediately relaxed into the dining experience. Everything served was wonderful, particularly the calamari, The 'special" a buttermilk crispy chicken was exceptional and the grits were from heaven, and I don't even like grits. Extremely flavourful food right down to the coffee. We had booked for six, two of whom were business friends visiting from the UK so it was business/social and we wanted to impress.
The service was a bit slow but we didn't mind at all (I didn't notice for about half an hour!) as we had drinks and bread and were busy talking but this is why I felt I had to drop a star.
The food was excellent and the waiter was very good. It wasn't that busy either so not sure why it was slow - perhaps they could see we were happy anyway.

We didn't feel rushed. The pace was lovely. We had an attentive server who was very friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended the soup which was an amazing vegan wild mushroom soup. Who needs cream and the extra calories! Delicious! The rest of the meal was equally tasty..
