Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent service; knowledgable, pleasant servers. Excellent meal; innovative and unusual dishes. Will definitely return the next time we are in Winter Park."

  • "Luma on the Park is the perfect place for a special occasion - especially a date night or a romantic outing. It's nicely situated on Park Ave, near The Wine Room and across from the rose garden. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the egg rigatoni bolognese, and my husband had their burger with fried egg and bacon. Both were outstanding. Our waiter was prompt and very attentive. I will definitely be returning to this Park Ave gem."

  • "Lars did a great job, from the start of dinner till the end of the meal. He answered our questions with great knowledge and understanding. We talked about Chef McGlammery's new cookbook, which I'd gotten for Christmas and was excited to try. It was a very, very nice evening, which I still remember fondly three months later. Well done, Lars and Luma! We can't wait to come back again."

  • "Food was good, though the carrot cake dessert was an unusual misfire for a kitchen that usually nails all aspects of the meal. Our server started out well, but then neglected our table as the evening went on."

  • "The food is sophisticated, the place is elegant and the service is very good."

  • "Went for the first time with my wife on a Friday night, asked for a table outside, the host was super nice told us there was a wait for outside. We waited at the bar for 20min had some drinks. They gave us an awesome spot outside. The waitress Emily was extremely nice, explained the menu to us and gave us some great suggestions. The food was amazing from the appetizers to the dessert. The ambiance was just perfect. I would go to this place every weekend if I could. It's just amaizing!"

  • "Had the burger....outstanding....quality meat...nice presentation. So much better than the Ravenous Pig. Service was attentive, professional and timely. Hands down ... The best restuarant in Winter Park."

  • "One of Winter Park's true gems for lunch or dinner. Nice ambience and great service. One suggestion is to ask the waiter questions about the menu items before ordering. The chicken salad sounds divine, until it arrives with only dark meat. It can be an unwelcome surprise if you're a white meat eater."

  • "I was looking for a rest to have a romantic dinner and this fit the bill to the T. My wife and I lovwd the place and the food was great."

  • "Chef Brandon wasn't there when we dinned at it showed. Sloppy service and a waiter who was on to many tables. Steak was OK but not worth $39"

  • "Luma continues to offer delicious food, great service, a lovely location and hence the reason we consider it to be the best restaurant in Winter Park, which is packed with fine restaurants."

  • "Good food, good wines, good people and great ambience. Recommend highly!"

  • "Outstanding food, ambiance and staff.. They do the farm to table better than than others. We had a vegen with us. He said the thing they put together for him was the best he's ever had, fresh veg with black rice. For me, the cauliflower tart was ethereal - light, and rich at the same time with just the right texture. And the pork loin on polenta is worth the 3 hour trip we made to get it. The most tender piece of loin I ever had. And the price is right"

  • "Downtown Winter Park's most adventuresome restaurant, from wine list to menu, is a must stop during the Winter Park Art Festival either for lunch or dinner. One can choose tapas or entrees, and those vary from a tasty hamburger/fries to cobia cooked with a rhubarb glaze. Menus change daily so repeating at Luma's will never be repetitious."

  • "Apparent high turnover in wait staff has negatively impacted the service quality. In addition, it appeared that the dining room was understaffed."

  • "The food at Luma was very good. The service the night we went was awful. In fact, it was so bad that the manager actually comp'ed our entire bill. Apparently residents of Orlando do care about good service as the place was packed. Because of the manager's actions, I might give them another try once they get their act together."

  • "I live in the neighborhood and regularly patron Luma. This last time the food was even more delicious than usual. The best filet in recent memory and the steak tar tar was great even though the preparation was somewhat non-traditional. Panna Cotta for dessert was a sweet way to finish the meal. Great for people-watching!"

  • "Seated promptly. Our waiter, Daniel, was helpful in selecting a wine. If the selections there are to your liking, the fixed price menu is a fantastic deal. Two of us had the wedge salads and the asparagus salad was particularly tasty. Two pork loins served on grits and a trout on a bed of beans, chutney and radishes were the main courses. All very tasty. Sides of asparagus and mashed potatoes with a dab of white truffle oil are recommended. Desserts were a strawberries, pound cake and rye ice cream (all in one dish) ; the chocolate cremeux with intense strawberry sorbet (4 stars); and the famous "this is not your ordinary carrot cake". We were never rushed nor did we feel that the service was slow. An excellent outing and kudos to Luma."

  • "We went to Luma for the first time because we were having a romantic date night and we wanted a really nice restaurant. When we arrived they were just setting up for dinner. The bar scene was fine, but not my thing. We wanted a romantic table, so the hostess put us in the middle of the dining room with another table by our side! It would have been fun if we were by ourselves! We were dissapointed when the hostess brought two more people to sit right next to us at the other table. We had no privacy. Our waitress was fantastic and so nice. The food was absolutely delicious! The creative dishes were so full of different flavors! Outstanding!"

  • "After reading restaurant reviews for the Winter Park area we thought Luma on Park would be a good choice. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed the ambiance, food, wine list and service. No doubt we will be back on our next trip into the area."

  • "My wife and I dined at Luma to enjoy our anniversary. The food that evening was amazing. We've never had a bad meal there. To compliment the meal we had the pleasure of being waited on by Lars. He was pleasant, fast, and efficient. His service made us feel special and as if we were the only table in the restaurant. Kudos to the whole crew. Luma exceeded our expectations yet again. Thank you."

  • "I had the grilled trout over a cioppino-like combination of vegetables- slightly spivey and herbed perfectly. The trout had a "lime gel" on top. That sounded odd, but was the perfect accompaniment. My husband ordered the Rigatino Bolognese. The Bolognese was light with San Marzano tomatoes and covered with herbs like a pesto, but not oily. Delicious. For dessert he had the carrot cake which was about as far from traditional carrot cake as you can get. It was a finger of sponge cake with a carrot purée and a dollop of cream cheese sorbet on the side. I had the chocolate pan a cotta which was light and silky smooth. A very enjoyable , innovative meal. We left refreshed and not stuffed."

  • "The food was the best I've had since I visited New York City. The service was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try the Chef's table."

  • "The food was terrible & way overpriced. We had chicken salad and it was cold dark meat, it may have been rabbit we are still not sure. Awful just awful"

  • "We are spending two months in the Orlando area and have eaten at LUMA 3 times. Everything we have ordered has been delicious! Love the atmosphere, too - very chic but comfortable. Wine list excellent. Only "negative" has been service - not up to standards of rest of restaurant. Slow, rather inattentive. Very nice waiters - just not around enough."

  • "Our service was okay. Not what I expected for an upscale restaurant and not what I've experienced before. I had the flank steak and it was burnt on the outside and med rare on the inside. I ordered medium. I don't mind medium rare, so I thought I would enjoy it anyway. Unfortunately, I did not. The side it came on was too busy in terms of flavors. The best thing about dinner was dessert. If I go back, it would only be for drinks and dessert."

  • "We have been to Luma a number of times, with small and larger parties. Each time the food and service has been impeccable. We had family in from out of town and everyone raved about the quality of food, attention to detail and high level of service."

  • "Took my wife for a grown up night out and it did not disappoint. Beautifully decorated, friendly a knowledgable staff. Bar had great wine list and spirit list. Food was cooked to perfection with a few unusual sides. Flat iron steak with wheat berries was phenomenal as well as a masterfully cooked ribeye with Brussels sprouts. Seating was a bit close in a few spots but still reasonable"

  • "I own a restaurant and am sensative to the noise issue. What my customers enjoy most is an ambiance whereby they can hear the music barely above their conversations. This noise thing started years ago is misguided and appeals to a small audience which you appear to attract. I would not eat at Luma again. Service was acceptable but a bit overbearing. I started to pour my own water and the staff grabbed the bottle and held it even after I said I'll take care of it. Food was good."

  • "I was desperate for a Foodie Friendly adult option and was willing to navigate the painful traffic during rush hour from the Disney area. Finding the location was a slight challenge, however once found, the experience was extremely enjoyable! A refreshing break from the options available near Disney."

  • "This was a lunch that was supposed to be better than I can cook at home. As a foodie, Luma met the criteria for an hour drive from Cocoa Beach. Service was outstanding and the ambience was up town. There is a big HOWEVER. It was like the dishwasher was on the line. Fried surf clams served without a lemon wedge...needed the acid, still a 8. My flank steak was presented with a half wedge of romaine and fries. The romaine was the best part of the dish. The steak was cooked perfectly, BUT the chef cut it like it was a filet: in thick slices, not thinly. It was like beef chewing gum! Tasty, but tough. My son had a dried pork loin sandwich, but it was not described as dry on the menu! I make better paninis at home. Deflated!"

  • "Overall was a great experience. Food tasted great. Service was great. Best duck I have ever had and the ravioli was A+. Only negatives were the appetizer portions are very small and the restaurant is pretty loud which may be a turn off if you are looking for a quite intimate date nite."

  • "We had a great experience, start to finish. It was a crazy busy Friday night but when we walked in at 7:30 for our 7:30 reservation we went straight to our table. Atmosphere is very busy with a real buzz but decor is attractive and space between tables is good. My rye manhattan was as good as it gets. My wife and our guest both spectacularly good Snapper on black lentils and I had an interestingly seasoned flank steak. The highlight of my meal though was the green pea ravioli - they must have been made in heaven and delivered directly to our table. They were ethereally light and tender, not at all a typical ravioli with a beautiful tangy, spicy green sauce on a bed of a potato-like carrot. One of the best things I've eaten in years."

  • "Great Margaritas. Very noisy, no privacy. Conversation very difficult. Service was attentive and well paced."

  • "Negatives: No valet at the door. Embarrassing since we were told there was complimentary valet and we were entertaining guests. My trout was good, my wife's pasta was horrible but she didn't let me know until the end of the meal. I tasted it and she was right, it was horrible. It was almost as if the chef made a mistake and put wrong ingredients together in the recipe. Take it off the menu as fast as you can....please. Positives: Nice atmosphere, server was pleasant and attentive. Looked like a nice bar but did not experience it. As far as we know our guests enjoyed their meals. All in all it was fair to good, maybe a 6 to 7 on a 10 scale. The food was a little foo foo, but tasty... a bit overpriced for our expectations."

  • "This was supposed to be a fine dining experience for my girlfriend and I, for Valentines that we had to celebrate of Sunday because we both work in the service industry (fine dining) I made reservations week in advance, and they sit us along a wall of 2 tops with only a pillow in between the person next to us, and had people of either side, not very enjoyable, our waiter only came to the table to get us water/a glass of wine, tool out appetizer and entree order, and that was it, 2 other servers cleared out table, and no one even checked on us, never got a second glass of wine, so we neglected dessert anyway, and they didn't have a painted Happy Valentinesday plate that I asked for. Food was delicious, service was null and void."
