Lula LoungeShowcasing Great African MusicThe concert at the Lula Lounge was fabulous. It has a great reputation for bringing in acts that would not be able to perform at other venues in the city. We really like Lula Lounge for providing a space for international music, especially African acts, and will continue supporting it and attending its events for this reason.7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect sunny Sunday BrunchWe are big fans of 91.1 Jazzfm and we have been planning a visit to Lula Lounge for sometime now and thanks to Travelzoo we made the journey last Sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, food, dance and music. We are now planning on another visit sometime real soon and will bring along a few friends. Also, the Portuguese parade was a welcome surprise and most enjoyable. Special thanks to your staff for informing us of the Portuguese parade planned the afternoon we arrived. The advance warning provided us with alternate parking plans that worked out just perfect. We enjoyed the short walk to and from the parking lot to Lula Lounge. We had never been top Lula Lounge before, but I must have passed it about a million times. Well, we took the plunge into this authentic Cuban bar/restaurant and we are both so glad that we did. First off, the staff that greeted and seated us were extremely friendly, and our server was absolutely delightful. The menu had some great food, tamales, empanadas, and probably the best guacamole I have ever tasted! There were a couple of bands playing that night and we had a great little romantic table up off to the side near the stage with perfect sightlines. Our server suggested some great drinks and they had quite an extensive wine list. We stayed there for 5 hours and had a blast! Dance lesson and teachers Tibwe and Angela were engaging and fun, salsa band and DJ had the dance floor burning all night. Very friendly and very conscious of our pace. The dance instructor was fantastic, full of energy. The dance floor was great, not too intimidating (especially as beginners), and the mix of live music and Dj was very well choreographed. Only negative was that the price on the website was $49 but it was actually $54 and certain dinner items cost extra without bring very clear about it. It was simply fabulous. The food was simply delicious, the show was fantastic and the whole evening was memorable. This was our second visit to Lula Lounge and I only wish we lived closer to Toronto so that we could visit more often. I have been trying to get a job in the area, but so far have had no luck. Anyone need an employee with a Master's degree and exceptional technology and communication skills? It was better the last time I came...needed more feta. My friend had the fries and they looked burnt when they came to the table. The other friend had chicken wings and loved them. I ordered a steak and it's delicious. I would say it is the best steak I have so far. Even better than The Keg and other steak house. Parking is not a problem too. The dance lesson was great he food was good, I had the steak and it was great. The food was good, nothing crazy amazing, decent quality for the price.
