  • "We had 2 different wait servers that apparently confused them as they apologized for the delay getting us our entres. When they arrived, my wife had 2 choices for the preparation of her drum fish and it did not come as ordered. My entrecote was very rare, I had ordered medium. We were not in a mood to ask them to be returned to the kitchen."

  • "I visited the restaurant during the 20th Anniversary of Essence Music Fest. The shrimp and grits were to die for, but also try the oven-baked oysters. My friend had the fish of the day which was also fantastic. The place fills up quickly so please make a reservation."

  • "Oyster happy hour is great at Luke! As I've mentioned in previous reviews, my only complaint is the service. It was really bad, but I also understand that happy hour doesn't necessarily equal big bills (which would equal larger tip). However, there is no excuse for bad service and a non-existent server. But, I haven't gotten to the point where the service is bad enough for me to not return."

  • "John was attentive, professional and friendly - because of his example it is reflected in his staff. Food was tasty. I will be back."

  • "When in New Orleans - be sure to check out this restaurant BUT only after you have enjoyed all the Creole/Cajun cuisine which are not to be missed! Luke was a great spot to try something outside of the usual New Orleans fare- best steaks, delicious Jalapeno grits, and amazing cocktails. Service was good, not as attentive as it could have been. We did book our reservation thru opentable yet the hostess was not ready for us when we arrived. Very minor as we were not in a rush, but the floor manager noticed within minutes and was quick to find us a table. A great lively restaurant whose taste lives up to its reputation. Well done."

  • "Our meal didn't start out well and went down hill from there. The mid-priced cab wine we order was out of stock, so they had to substitute a different one, but I don't think the quality was the same. After finishing about half of our app, they brought the salad and soup all at once. The waiter even put the salad on the same plate as the appetizer. Really?? I asked them to slow down the meal and hold of on the entrée until we could finished what was already served. Salad was very good, along with the soup. Had to keep asking to refill water. I order the blacked fish of the day, but it was so salty, I could hardly eat it. We will never return, don't waste your money here."

  • "I've eaten here many times. The food is consistently good. The service is always attentive. I recommend this to anyone lunch or dinner. Especially the appetizers Are excellent"

  • "I ate at Luke a few years ago and it was perfect- food, atmosphere and service were without fault. Over the weekend I went back, and although the food was yummy, I couldn't help but be distracted by terrible service, extremely loud staff members enjoying themselves at a table next to me and a fire alarm that went off in the building (supposedly it happens all the time our waitress told us so it was "ok") The cocktails were the worst part."

  • "We had an outstanding dining experience at Lüke. As requested, we were seated in a great location upstairs where we could see the kitchen action. As members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, we were greeted by the manager who brought a special complimentary appetizer to our table. It was not only delicious, it was created just for us as the tuna tartare was not a menu item. Service from everyone was exemplary. The food, as we expected from a John Besh establishment, was superb (flamenkuche, duck, shrimp & grits, etoufée.) And a complimentary birthday dessert for one in our party was another extra special touch that capped off a delightful evening. Thanks to everyone at Lüke for a great dining experience!"

  • "Our meal was perfect- and the service also....My daughter and I are serious diners, and we know better from best. The craw fish sausage appetizer with the artichoke, oh my! I really want to go back and have this again soon!!!!!"

  • "I made reservations for 8:30 Saturday night but the restaurant wasn't full at all. Muscles were delicious and the portion is enough for two people. The shrimp and grits were so delicious. The gumbo was good. It wasn't overly spicy or salty. I ordered the pate but it wasn't for me. The relish, pickles, and mustard that comes with it is good. The place was a little noisy but that was because people were enjoying themselves and that is OK. The service was friendly and timely. I will go here on every trip to NO. It's only about 3 blocks from Canal in a quiet area."

  • "We've been here as a couple many times - this was the first time we brought a larger party (7 people) including one guest in a wheelchair. They were super about having our table ready and accommodating each and every one of us. That said, our service was a bit slow on our most recent visit, yet the main dining area did not seem very busy (it was @6:30pm). Previously we've enjoyed stellar and attentive service. This time we did not. But the food, as usual, is predictably delicious and beautiful. It's really a charming brasserie - and one of our regular places to visit each and every time we are in the Big Easy!"

  • "Lovely restaurant...convenient to hotels. Small plates and well presented meals with a creole influence. Very nice wine list from Germany and France. A favorite of our grown children who live in the area. A great escape from the cacophony of the quarter. We enjoyed the grilled Dorado on Israeli couscous and shrimp grits...crawfish bisque was fabulous blend of creamy flavor. Plates of oysters and crawfish...Great choice for travellers or business."

  • "When making our reservations, I said we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Our servers made sure it was a special experience for us. Within minutes of being seated, they came with two flutes of champagne and brought out a special appetizer for us. The food was simple, yet full of rich flavors. They made sure we knew of drink and food specials. It was casual, but service was polished."

  • "In town for a Annual Meeting of the Cat Fancy is Association, and I really wanted to eat here. First time experience. Not disappointed in the least. Group of four, seated in the back room (where we had a large view of the kitchen), which was considerably quieter and the front bar area. He's very trendy spot. The seafood is outstanding, amazingly fresh. Bread pudding was awesome, likewise our entrées."

  • "Although the food and service were very good, we couldn't wait to get out of there because of the noise level. We're from New York City and this restaurant was louder than any other place we've ever been - and that's saying a lot!"

  • "We had the Crawfish Bisque, Steamed Mussels and Shrimp and Grits. All were amazing but the Steamed Chocolate with salted caramel ice cream for desert was by far the best dish of the night. Service was good but a bit slow. We were not told about the specials. We overheard our server telling another table after we had already ordered. Conversation was difficult because of the vibrant music playing. Could have been turned down a couple of notches. Will be back and bringing friends."

  • "We are lucky to get a table in the back next to the all windows kitchen so we could watch the team prepared our meal and others. It provides great dinner theater. The food was excellent. the service was very friendly, competent without being stuffy. We liked that there were options at a variety of price points. We took the mid-range and were rewarded with value for money but you also have a fine meal here at a lower cost than most places of this quality. We will return, the breakfast menu also look quiet good."

  • "Great food with all you expect from a great New Orleans resturant."

  • "The ambiance of this restaurant is fair- you can see an open kitchen in the back room which is amusing to watch them hustle. Food was very rich and flavorful, yet small and overpriced for what was served. The crème brulee is outstanding. Service was great. Beer was bitter no matter what kind you get. Soda served in 8oz glasses and expensive. It is a nice restaurant to try a famous chef's food, yet many others that are less costly and have great food as well in New Orleans."

  • "We went for the happy hour 50 cent oysters on the half shell and half price beer, wine, and cocktails. All this was true and delicious. I had the Riverbend cocktail, refreshing and well made. We were still hungry so we tried a couple appetizers. The sampler board of meats, mustards, pate and relishes was delightful and can you believe all made in house! Perfect blood sausage, house made pickles...all of it good on its own and so fun to pair together. This was not on the menu, but our friendly server told us about it when we couldn't make up our minds, a great suggestion. We also had the Flamenkuche covered in huge chunks of bacon and the most amazingly perfect caramelized onions I've ever tasted. Happy hour indeed!"

  • "Came here for a bachlorette dinner and this place was perfect for us. We wanted to go somewhere low key with great food and cocktails and Luke fit the bill. We enjoyed the oysters, crawfish boil, and shrimp grits which were all equally delicious. The service was friendly and attentive and we LOVED the great music playing in the background. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting New Orleans."

  • "The food here was delicious, though the menu is on the smaller side. We had read descriptions of this restaurant as romantic, but it was bright and extremely loud when we were there for dinner. Also the service was not very good. We ordered a soup and a side dish that never arrived and the wrong topping was out on my steak (there were 2 options on the menu)."

  • "We had a great dinner with outstanding service. When we went back for the breakfast, it was clear the wait staff were the Freshman team. Slow service, wrong orders, reaching over us, sloppy manners and language. We'd definitely go back, and I will chalk it up as a bad day with new waiters. The Hostess worked very hard to cover for the knuckleheads, so Kudos to her for effort!"

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at Luke very much. My husband had the fresh fish of the day. I had the roasted chicken. Both were delicious. Our food seemed to take a little long to come out but they were very busy. It was a Monday night. Definitely make a reservation. I'm very glad we went to the restaurant."

  • "The food is great and the staff makes great recommendations. Being from the West Coast, Barbecued Shrimp and Grits would not have jumped off the menu at me, but it was delicious! The waiter also suggested the perfect wine. My only complaint is that when I was there two years ago I would have described it as a best kept secret. No more! Better make reservations."

  • "Lüke makes the best French 75 in the city (cognac instead of gin, for one thing) and I hadn't had one in too long. I've been many times and ordered it many times. Unfortunately there was something off about it this time around; I ordered two over the course of dinner and they were both just off somehow. The shrimp and grits though, which I believe is a newer dish on the menu, was fantastic -- truly excellent. Service was ok-good, as usual."

  • "The space is beautiful and the food is wonderful. A few of us got the southern breakfast which they agreed was exactly what they needed after a long night of going out. I ordered the eggs in a jar which were fantastic and the shrimp that came with it were just so good. We also ordered the crabmeat maison which is a perfect light meal for someone who doesn't want anything too heavy which tends to happen when you are eating in NOLA. Another in our group got the shrimp and grits and again loved every bite. I would like to come back for dinner at some point and to really attack the raw bar but I have to say that this place is awesome for a quick and easy breakfast/lunch."

  • "This restaurant was recommended to me by two different friends, so I had high expectations. I had the burger, which was delicious. My three dining partners also enjoyed their food, but didn't rave about it. I think the setting is what disappointed me, though. We were put in the back, and there was just no ambiance. I'd like to give it another try, hopefully sitting in the front room, which looks more 'bistro-like.'"

  • "Ask for Richie Rich. Was a fabulous server! Enjoyed the crawfish boudin appetizer (a must) and the rabbit patte appetizer. One of our party complained that the portions were small but I think they were perfect especially with the appetiZers. Waiter comped the dessert and brought us out a few to try. Truly enjoyed the visit to Luke will return!'"

  • "Had heard so much about the restaurant that I was eager to try it with friends on a recent visit. I was able to make reservations online, which was a plus! The food was alright - but nothing special (and we had 3 different items ...the hamburger was the best item in our group). We were there at about 7:30 pm for dinner and it was very noisy (we were all a little hoarse when leaving) ...it seems like it would be a fun gathering place for a social drink but if you want to have in-depth conversation there might be quieter venues. Our server was busy, difficult to catch, and seemed a little irritated overall. We left a good tip anyways figuring she might have had a bad day."
