LükeI enjoyed the experience veryI enjoyed the experience very much the tables were just too small for all the drinks and plates6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionThis was the BEST breakfast I have ever had! The Pain Perdu was out of this world and even had BACON in it! My husband got the Omelet of Local Crab. The best as well! Even the biscuits were heavenly. This will be our new breakfast spot when we visit NOLA.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Besh restaurant experienceI wasn't sure what to expect. The reservation said Casual Dress, but some of the items on the menu suggested higher-end dining than that.
I did not expect the great food that our party received. All of the portions were considerable. And the quality of the ingredients was top notch.
Service staff appeared to be either in-training, or not quite sure of themselves where we were seated (kitchen-side, which was also a first for me) though I felt that I was taken care of by all of the staff, not just the two particular wait staff who introduced themselves to our party.
While this may seem like an unlikely pick as "best part of the meal" my wife's spaetzle, available as a side, was great!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceLove the restaurant. I have been there a few times and will go back again. It was a little too noisy for a conversation over dinner but the food was excellent and the service very professional and courteous.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGerman style restaurantOur family was happy with their dishes, German themed. My husband didn't care for his because the pork was tough and hard to eat, and fatty. My hamburger was huge and very tasty, with bacon and carmelized onions. We also had a strawberry tart with Creole cream cheese ice cream. The beer choices were interesting, and German based, along with Louisiana made beer. The ambiance was nice, not fancy. The wood floors were beautiful, and the entryway was a bank, and the roofline looked a lot like Grand Central Station, which was very cool. The arrival of our dishes was very slow. I'm not sure if it was because they were busy, or because each dish is made to order. We love John Besh restaurants, and probably would eat here again.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentFrench/German/local cuisine. If you are looking for that European find in New Orleans, this is the restaurant for you. Between the great staff, incredible food and the convenience to downtown, I want to go back.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBesh Restaurants Can't be Beat!!!I have never been disappointed at a John Besh Restaurant and "Luke" did not disappoint. The crawfish bisque was delicious. Trout Amendine was good but could have used a little more butter sauce. Good Luke Salad with buttermilk dressing!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday morning breakfastI'll start out by saying I love Chef Besh's PBS show and I wish I was in town long enough to have made it for dinner. That said, we were the only table in the restaurant when we sat down at 9am (others showed up soon after). Both of the people I dined with say this was the best breakfast they ever had, and all they had bacon and eggs! The eggs were that fresh and the bacon that smoky and delicious...Of course, the southern breakfast did come with a biscuit and grits, which as a Yankee was my favorite part of the meal. One of the guys I was with has severe nut and dairy allergies and our server Jack took great care to check everything out with the chef to make sure it would be ok. As advertised, the beignets were also out of this world.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious andThe food was delicious and when the waiter noticed a (slight) discrepancy between what one of my dinner companions ordered and what she got, the waiter proactively solved it. EXCELLENT service.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways delivers!Love this place. We tend to stick with appetizers, but the oysters always look so good. (We're not oyster eaters!). Crawfish Bisque to die for. Escargots are sumptuous. Charcuterie items are wonderfully prepared and served with interesting accompaniments. Tables are small, but cozy.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant creates aThis restaurant creates a European feel with ambience. If there is one low point, it is the lack of professionalism among the wait staff. In Europe, waiters are a profession who understand what they must do. I do not want to be a "best friend" or hear about their personal lives why they failed to keep up with a simple request. When I was in college, I worked a great in food service and value good professional service. Perhaps it is this generation of helicoptered children who do not hear they are "splendid" enough and lack self confidence.- or they they were improperly trained.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLuke's happy hourWe went today fro the 50 cent oysters and half price drinks (3-6:00pm daily), and it was an unbelievably great experience. My only complaint was that the oysters could've been better chilled. I like them icy-cold.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMJohn Besh perfectionWe stopped in for brunch Memorial Day weekend and had a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding and the food was incredible. Amazing presentation. It may have been the most expensive breakfast I've had but it was well worth it and was my favorite meal of our trip. I would recommend any John Besh restaurant on a trip to New Orleans. You can't go wrong!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHUGE OYSTERSAmazingly LARGE Oysters on half shell which were on happy hour because we had a 5:45 pm reservation!!! Escargots au gratin OMG delicious!!!! The staff were very attentive to our needs! Lynda D.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent albeit rushed mealThe appetizers and entrees were absolutely delicious! The waiters made great recommendations and the menu had too many wonderful choices. And they gave us a dessert on the house for our anniversary which was so thoughtful. Our one complaint was the pacing of the meal. They literally cleared our apps to put our entree dishes down, which not only made us feel rushed, it made us get just too full. Overall though, the food was just too good to say we would not go back or recommend.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI'll be back! For my wife and I the meals and service was outstanding. The layout of the resteraunt and bar was very well done. When we first walked into the place there was a lot of people having a good time at the bar, however the main dining area was sligthly separated so I could have an easy conversation with my wife. I came for the food and I was not disappointed!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceI loved my experience , the 4 of us sampled many items from the menu and all of it was excellent. The servers where very attentive and friendly. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. This restaurant exceeded my expectations.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGoodHad a great time. Really enjoyed oysters and drum!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat casual dining in the big easyOysters were outstanding! Escargot was with gruyere was a sensation. The food was wonderful!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNot just hypeKept hearing about this place all week.... It exceeded the hype and was absolutely awesome.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Orleans Cuisine at its best!Located in the Hilton Hotel, Luke is a great spot for Brunch. I had the best shrimp and grits I have ever had in NOLA. The menu offerings at brunch were varied so everyone in our large group could find something to enjoy. The service was great. I would definitely return the next time I'm in town.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLuke Restaurant ReviewLuke has a nice casual ambience, wonderful food, great service, and an excellent bar selection. I highly recommend the ribeye with lump crab meat on top. Please do not leave here without trying the jalapeno cheese grits. I'm a Southern woman and I give them an A+. My friends ordered the mussel appetizer, the burger, and the oysters on the 1/2 shell. Everything that we sampled was great. The only negative was that I did not like the Champagne au Peche as much as I thought I would. My friend's Riverbend was much better. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and I will visit again.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Happy Hour in the CityI'm obsessed with their 50c oyster happy hour. I'm less crazy about their food, but if I'm going anywhere between 3-6, it's Luke's. Huge, fresh, gulf oysters, incredible cocktails, and great ambiance and staff.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLuke in NawlinsFood was nicely prepared and presented. Portions are moderate, enough to eat without feeling like you're wasting food. The local oysters were exceptional, and the horseradish had a great kick. Prices reasonable for a Besh backed place. Restaurant is a bit noisy, but that is part of it's ambience.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMhappyhappy to return to this fav of ours
happy to still have the happy hour option w/ 1/2 price beer, wine and oysters
oysters were out of this world!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLuke was a great place forLuke was a great place for Mother's Day brunch. We were there from out of town and had it recommended to us. The shrimp and grits was excellent as we're the crab cakes Benedict (not the right name). Shared both of those with my daughter5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DinnerWent for dinner this past Saturday. Food was amazing. Menu had so many good options I can't wait to return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI'll have one of everything!I can't say enough good things about Luke. The food is amazing. Even if you're not an adventurous foodie, the burger is the best I've had. My only critism is that the bar service is a bit slow, but the food definitely makes up for it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMvery impressed by the restaurant.very impressed by the restaurant. all the meals arrived very quickly looked spectacular, and were very delicious; so did everything that arrived at the tables around us!!! we shared a "HUGE" slice of the gateau basque between three people and were all very pleased. the only negatives I can give are: the gateau was a bit overdone on the bottom (but as I stated, it was a very large serving) and a request for lemon went unanswered, but I will be back to sample some of the other dishes on the menu!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent BrunchThe brunch here was outstanding. Luke's ambiance made for a a great brunch for our group of 6. We were able to read papers while we had coffee, espresso and bloody marys. The Eggs in a Jar with shrimp are not to be missed!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food.Get the Pain Perdu for breakfast! Very impressed with their food. Service was a little slow sometimes, but it was tolerable. Food came out fairly quickly.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good experience. We had a very good experience. The food took quite awhile but we had a lot to talk about so it wasn't too big of
a deal at the time. If we had been really hungry, that would've been bad. Food quality was excellent! Service was friendly and attentive. I would go again5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming CBD BistroLuke is tucked inside the Hilton in the CBD with an old-school atmosphere. Although we were there on a Friday evening there were always a few open tables, and we were seated instantly for our reservation. I started with crawfish bisque followed by the Court-bouillon (essentially a seafod stew), and my fiancee had the salad luke and the jumbo louisiana shrimp “en cocotte,” which was shrimp with cheese grits and sausage. Everything was very tasty, and the service was great. To top it off, our waiter brought us a complementary bread pudding for dessert. Later in the week we tried Borgne, another John Besh restaurant, and Luke was far superior.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent brasserieBooked at this restaurant as it was reccomended by a friend. It did not disappoint. The food was excellent. The ambience was casual, but more on the business casual, which was nice. The oysters were the highlight. I will reccomend this place to others.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and lots of variety.I went to Luke on my last day of a five-day trip to New Orleans. The food was wonderful and offered lots of variety. I was so excited to see spaetzle on the menu...yum. I only wish I had been in NOLA long enough for a repeat visit. I will absolutely hit this place again the next time I am in New Orleans.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMHot spot in the Big EasyLively, energectic vibe with excellent food and beverage choices ... love the French bistro theme!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat happy-hour atmosphereSeven of us went there for an early Sunday supper. We wanted to go to a non-Creole/cajun/southern place for a change. They had a fantastic assortment of nibbles, including nice cold oysters, to go with the happy hour drinks. The entrees were fantastic as well. My only complain has nothing to do with the food - We were seated toward the back of the dining room, and every time someone came through the back door, the chilly outside air gushed in.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunchExcellent brunch at Luke. We arrived on a Sunday at 9am and were initially given a limited breakfast menu. We asked if brunch was being served, and the waitress brought us a different menu. We had apparently arrived a bit early, but the waitress said it would be no problem.
Otherwise excellent brunch! Shrimp and grits were outstanding!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe started with Flammenkueche. We started with Flammenkueche. Super Yum, Cheesy with bacon! Next up was a crawfish boudin. I liked this. To me it was a crawfish sausage and was not like a typical boudin. One entree was a pork shoulder and pork sausage combo which was so much that it provided a nice lunch the next day. I went for the daily catch meuniere style. The entrees were good but I liked our appetizer choices more.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgerman goodies - stateside!I was beyond excited to see schnitzel and spetzele on the menu for Luke, and the dish did not disappoint! I've been trying to find someplace to fill my craving for perfectly fried goodness, and the veal at Luke did just that. I'd also recommend the roasted jalapeno cheddar grits - they made a great impromptu appetizer.
can't wait to go back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly thing that was disappointingOnly thing that was disappointing is that we called to add 2 people to our reservation of 4 (making it 6) and they said it couldn't be accommodated, howver there were open tables when we both arrived and left...5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent RestaurantMy family and I went to this restaurant and it was a great experience. The food was delicious, we had the roasted chicken, crawfish bisque, ribeye steaks, the hamburger(best ever), and their handmade french fries are the best crispy no grease at all. I can't wait to go back and try more entrees. The cocktails are excellent as well! The service was outstanding, the wait staff all worked together, and they are all so friendly.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!!!We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night because we wanted to try more of the menu items we had a hard time passing on the first night and we were not disappointed! John Besh Restaurants Rock!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFun and FoodGreat raw oysters and steamed mussels among lots of other great food and drinks!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to the chefThe menu is delightfully inventive and execution is spot on. The cocktails well worth the price. Note. Don't sit right next to the bar. I asked to change our table and was politely accommodated. I will go back anytime I'm in town5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fantastic time, theWe had a fantastic time, the pork shank is amazing. I highly reccomend Luke5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is wonderfulWe went for our anniversary, and were seated in the back. It was EXCEPTIONALLY noisy. My husband went and complained to the front desk, the moved us, and treated us wonderfully. The food was wonderful, the Panna Cotta dessert was out of this world! the staff is very nice. If you go, specify to be seated in the front, the back area is way too noisy.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMJohn Besh' food is many notchesJohn Besh' food is many notches above! Classic European offerings, especially strong w/ smoked meats, sausages, etc and seafood dishes.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest BurgerIt's huge. It's delicious. It is all you need.
