Lüke offers an extensive French, German, and Belgian beer selection, including two exclusive house brews [custom-made in Louisiana]. The cuisine is unaffectedly Old World, using slow and traditional cooking techniques.   • "We were seated at our table (party of 2) the hostess had run out of menus, so we had to share one. It took over ten minutes for a server to show up to our table, another ten minutes to receive ice water. The water asked for our order, I told him that I had not been able to view a menu yet. I asked for a cup of coffee, and the waiter responded that they had run out of cream. I finished my 1st cup of coffee, and it took 3 requests, in order to get a refill. I can't comment much on the food, as we only had eggs, bacon, and biscuits. We were offered strawberry jam for the biscuits, we said we would love some. By the time the jam had shown up on the table, we were already done with our meal. "

  • "Luke is in a neighborhood without much in the way of modern bistro dining ... and they rest on that quite a bit. Service is on the slow side, portions are small, and prices are high. The dining room is lovely - if they don't march you back to the second room right next to a not-particularly-lovely glassed-in kitchen. Brunch was tasty, though the etouffee was oversalted (this coming from someone who asked for potato chips instead of a birthday cake). Poached eggs in a jar are cumbersome to eat, and while one was poached perfectly, the other came out poached hard. If you're on an expense account and are in a position to treat Luke as a tapas you'll likely be in good shape. Bring a sweater though - the AC is the one thing that's ample."

  • "We had stopped earlier in our trip and sat at the bar. We had a great time with the bartender and oyster "shucker". The chef came out and gave us a lesson in the various oysters and locations. We enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to come back from Sunday brunch. Sunday brunch was excellent. The food was well prepared and the flavors were incredible. I had the Louisiana BBQ Shrimp and Grits topped with poached eggs. The Fried Jalapeno and Cheese Grits with the BBQ shrimp provided a little spice and were delicious. This trip removed any fear I had with eggs & seafood together and this dish sealed the deal. Luke is now on our list for "must-visit" when we go back to NOLA. They provided one of our most favorite meals in NOLA."

  • "We had reservations for table service. Luke's appears tohave a very good and extensive sea food raw bar. The food was quite good and the service good. We found the noise level to be very loud due to, we think, the raw bar being in the dining room. Was expectin for on a higher end than what Luke's actually is. Overall had a good time, but probably would not come again unless for the seafood raw bar."

  • "Excellent take of French and New Orleans classics. Soups rich and salads were large and fresh with really nice french style dressing. Had a mixed group of tastes, including vegan. The vegan plate made up by the chef was truly exceptional with a blend of vegetables and "cranberry beans". Diverse group of meat eaters, seafood lovers, vegans of foodie and non-foodie all enjoyed themselves with an exceptional meal."

  • "Since Luke has been booked for dinner each time we have tried to reserve we decided on an early lunch this trip ..and glad we did.. We were seated promptly, staff was friendly and informative and food was served quickly. We had the chicken liver/rabbit pate as an appetizer and enjoyed every bite..although the restaurant was filling up we did not feel rushed. My hubby chose the daily lunch special which obviously is a big hit for business lunches... Delicious and quickly served.. Will try again for dinner."

  • "Awesome happy hour! Had 12 dozens of oysters with 8 people. Half price on oysters and cocktail between 3-6pm. Servers were very nice and attentive to our needs. Would totally recommend this place for anyone who wants fresh shucked oysters. The baked oysters were to die for!!"

  • "The food was okay. I've been here twice, and I didn't like it. The staff is not friendly, food was okay. I ordered Hamburger which was nominated one of the best hamburger in the US. However, hamburger at the Walks-on restaurant is much better. We ordered seafood bouillon, special of the day, which was very salty. Cocktail drinks are okay. The only good was appertizers."

  • "A friend recommended Luke but said he had only had breakfast and lunch there. He stayed in the Hilton where it resides and enjoyed it. I took some colleagues there this week and we all loved it. We all go to the city 3 or 4 times a year and have good general knowledge. Luke was a pleasant surprise and deserves a spot in the "go to" column. This one could become a regular for you trust me."

  • "Gumbo was outstanding. Steak and fries were not best choice on menu; did not care for their special steak sauce and fries were not hot. Originally we were seated in bar area, but it was very noisy and the table was wobbly. We asked to be moved and they seated us at a nice table in the back. Loved watching cooks through glass window."

  • "The famed Luke brunch turned out to be a big dud. My wife and I visited Luke and left again after 40 minutes, our dining experience was really rushed. The server missed critical items that we ordered, then didn't seem to care that he ruined our brunch. He was disinterested and rude, which is rare in New Orleans. The food was good, but the portions were small, the shrimp and grits are $24 for 2 shrimp, a nugget of sausage and a small pile of grits. This restaurant came very highly recommended so I'm sure my experience was not the norm, but I left unhappy and hungry."

  • "I'm not a huge fan of French food, partially because what is advertised as French in the US isn't really French. As a result, I've normally skipped eating here in my previous visits to New Orleans since it is advertised as French. For a variety of reasons, I met friends for dinner here on this trip, and it was excellent. The menu had a few traditional French dishes (Croque Madame, etc) but most of the offerings were classic Louisiana dishes. I had a fish and roasted vegetables dish that was great, friends had shrimp and jalapeno grits and were quite pleased. We shared a bread pudding for dessert that was a perfect end to a quite good meal."

  • "We went to Luke's as part of a weekend Bachelorette party in NOLA and had a wonderful time. The service was excellent! We began the meal with a wonderful round of champagne for the group and was followed with an excellent meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or just a wonderful night out. And the dessert was fabulous, especially the dark chocolate cake. Oh and did I mention the drinks were wonderful too."

  • "We've eaten at Luke at least 5 times now and I continue to be impressed with the food and the staff. It's a small space which is always filled for dinner and the staff continues to impress. Drinks are flowing, food is yummy, and on occassion you even get to see the Chef! The rabit with house made noodles is my favorite dish. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Yummy, yummy!"

  • "While the menu had some great items on it and we were all happy with our dishes, we had to practically beg for the opportunity to order a drink or dessert after dinner. Also, our server awkwardly collected so many dishes that she was trying not to drop them, but left the butter and one knife on our table, not returning to clear them or offer dessert or coffee. We had heard August was great, but as we had some travelers who may not have met the dress code, we went with Luke. Maybe we should have skipped."

  • "I had higher expectations for a John Besh establishment. I did had the seafood gumbo, though it was not outstanding and some of the seafood was over cooked. My friends thought the bisque was very good. My fried oyster salad was ok, the oysters were soggy. The real miss was the service. When our food was brought by an alternate server, there were several requests that had not been honored by the kitchen and it took 10 minutes for our original server to check on us. We were seated in the very back room, even though we had made reservations, and I think it was an "out of sight out of mind" problem. I would give it another try but would need to be convinced that our mishaps were not the norm before I could recommend the restaurant to others."

  • "We went during happy hour so it was pretty busy and I can understand there are were a lot of orders for oysters. I really enjoy Luke's oysters as always, but this time we also got fried oysters and they forgot our order initially so it took some time. Also the waiters weren't very attentive to the customers and distracted with something on tv. I would go again because I enjoy the food and location is great but the service can be improved."

  • "There was a charming waiter who introduced himself and his assistant; promised his attention. Bisque was spilled all over saucer, no bread, appetizers came at different times. Not what I expected. The crab extra on my shrimp and grits was great, but I was surprised at the cost. But food was wonderful. I would go back to try other dishes and maybe be a little more pointed if things seemed a little sloppy."

  • "The menu is good, and there is a great raw bar. I was disappointed by the crabmeat maison, which is supposed to be a specialty. It was good, fresh crab, but the dish was too dry and a little bland. The wine list is nice, and I like the glass, 1/2 carafe, carafe options. Our service was not great. We had a team of 2 servers and there was a lot of redundancy and/or misses throughout the meal. We placed a dessert order and waited for over 30 minutes before we finally caught the waitress's attention (we ordered with her the other waiter). She was really nice, got the manager involved, and got us on our way with a comped dessert, but the overall swervice experience jsut seemed really off."

  • "I had tried some of John Besh's other restaurants before so I was really looking forward to eating at Lüke. The charcuiterie tray is a great option for trying a wide selection of the various cured meat options that are available. Theseasoning on the main courses was severely lacking. What a shame to present such a nice mix of ingredients together and then not allow them to taste. I think even the rustic cooking that the entrees are based on included salt and other enhancing flavors available at the time... The deserts? Skip them. We had a few and they were either overcooked with little flavor or undercooked with off-textures. Go here for a drink and the charcuiterie plate and then head off to another place for your main meal."

  • "I set up a group dinner for 8 and choose Luke for it's location and eclectic menu. Everyone was pleased with their selection. We were given a choice to be seated immediately (about 15 minutes ahead of our reservation time) near the door or wait for a table that would be open closer to our 7:30 reservation. We chose immediate seating and never regretted it. What a great place to eat. When some friends in town for a meeting couldn't find a dinner reservation, I recommended Luke, and they loved it as well."

  • "Really disappointed by our experience at Luke. I was there with a group of 10 for brunch and the food was very lackluster. It took forever to come out. Also, they sold the burger as one of the best in the country to come of the group and no one's was cooked correctly. The menu had 1 vegetarian option (plain buttermilk pancakes) and some of the brunch entrees on the menu were $25. Would not waste your money there. So disappointed, as we were very excited to dine at a John Besh restaurant."

  • "I came to LUKE for my 23rd birthday ! I came with a group of twenty and our server Richie Rich sat us in our own private room which was exactly what we wanted. Richie Rich was beyond phenomenal. He went above and beyond for each one of us by catering to each and everyone of our needs. He even took the time to suggest foods that we all loved. Even as he was serving us Richie Rich found time to entertain us with jokes and showing us a good time (he even did a dance for us). He made the experience a great one so much that every restaurant we went to afterwards was subpar."
