  • "I was in NO for business and had some family members I haven't seen in years meet me there. I wanted to treat them to a special dinner, but was afraid they would be overwhelmed if the restaurant was too fancy. Luke was perfect! The atmosphere was upscale but still casual, not intimidating for diners with less experience. And the food followed through with the same vibe. Everyone at the table loved their meals. The steak was delicious, cooked perfectly, and with a compound butter and sour mash steak sauce that were both delicious. My shrimp en cocotte was heavenly. The andouille sausage really made the sauce and the grits were creamy and cheesy. Of the charcuterie, the pate and pickled watermelon really stood out. Service was perfect too!"

  • "Luke was delicious as always. We had a private room to a special celebration, and it was perfect! Just what we were looking for. You can never go wrong with the Luke Burger & fries!"

  • "The food was excellent and the staff were professional and attentive. My wife and I shared a number of the dishes, and the staff brought them on separate plates without our having to ask. They timed the meal well; we never felt either rushed or forgotten. It's a Besh restaurant, so you expect quality... and you get it. It's a big plus for me that they don't nickel and dime the customer with corkage fees and things like that. The relaxed, enjoyable experience in a restaurant with outstanding food is one of the reasons Besh places are always high on my list. We especially recommend the highlighted entree shrimp en cocotte. It was a perfect combination of a big shrimp, a little andouille, and some delicious grits."

  • "I arranged this meal to celebrate my mothers birthday. We traveled to New Orleans from Iowa for this event. Food was great and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. I could not have asked for a better celebration."

  • "We enjoyed a Staycation so we are spoiled by the New Orleans food! Food was fabulous. The best pate ever!! Was a tad noisy, 'though!!"

  • "We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and promptly seated. Our two servers worked well together, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They asked if we were in a hurry or taking our time to dine. We told them to take their time we wanted a leisurely dinner. Drinks, appetizers, main course and desserts were awesome. We enjoyed everything we had. Will definitely return. Robert, I think a manager checked on us and made sure everything was okay. We had a party of six and everyone was happy with the evening. Love the look and ambience of Luke."

  • "None of the food wowed us at Luke, and the service was comprised of a very lack-luster main waiter and an overly-energetic secondary server. The frogs legs were good but the batter was a bit too salty. The duck entree was quite delicious, but the grilled Dorado w/cous cous had a very odd flavor in one of the sauces - kind of ruined the whole dish for me. Steamed chocolate dessert was pretty tasty. Also, I received more than one very dirty dish during the night & had to ask for replacements - normally not a big deal, but this should not happen when I'm paying $50+ per person. Overall, I just feel like if you're planning to spend this much on a dinner in NOLA, there are MUCH better places to do it."

  • "My disappointment came at the very beginning starting w/ the valet attendants. It was like they weren't sure they could take my car. Then after they did it was a going to be a $10 charge. After that, I walked into the restaurant and they were not ready for me. Of course they send you to the bar. Fine. The rest of the party arrived and then we were seated. The food was O.K.. The thing that really burned me up, was that they asked on the reservation if it was a special occasion. I wrote that it was 2 birthday celebrations and nothing was ever said or done about it! I will not be going back!"

  • "Luke was casual and friendly with excellent food. I wish I had a berry pavlova right now--what a light delicious dessert. I had the beet salad (golden beets, pecans and blue cheese) and stole a few bites of the fois gras terrine. Both were excellent. The salad was almost too much, since I also had etoufee! My husband's fish was cooked perfectly. The wine is a little pricey, but we enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and helpful. A great experience."

  • "Have dined at Luke before but this was the first time having breakfast there. Was with a group of eight. Great menu! The food was incredible, the service was first rate! Will return again and again for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Highly recommend to others."

  • "Seriously, the regular grits are amazing, and so are the jalapeno cheese grits are cuh-razy! I had a great bloody mary (nice and spicy) and the Louisiana shrimp & grits, all very tasty!"

  • "We had 2 different wait servers that apparently confused them as they apologized for the delay getting us our entres. When they arrived, my wife had 2 choices for the preparation of her drum fish and it did not come as ordered. My entrecote was very rare, I had ordered medium. We were not in a mood to ask them to be returned to the kitchen."

  • "My meal was incredible and the service was excellent . My table was ready when I arrived. I chose Luke's when I could not get a reservation at Kaye Pauls. The food was just as excellent. The service was good but when the waiters were not serving they were acting silly and goofing off I did not find this very professional. Overall though it was a great experience and I would go back. I had the Bib Lettuce salad and the etufe delicious"

  • "I visited the restaurant during the 20th Anniversary of Essence Music Fest. The shrimp and grits were to die for, but also try the oven-baked oysters. My friend had the fish of the day which was also fantastic. The place fills up quickly so please make a reservation."

  • "I ate at Luke a few years ago and it was perfect- food, atmosphere and service were without fault. Over the weekend I went back, and although the food was yummy, I couldn't help but be distracted by terrible service, extremely loud staff members enjoying themselves at a table next to me and a fire alarm that went off in the building (supposedly it happens all the time our waitress told us so it was "ok") The cocktails were the worst part."

  • "We had an outstanding dining experience at Lüke. As requested, we were seated in a great location upstairs where we could see the kitchen action. As members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, we were greeted by the manager who brought a special complimentary appetizer to our table. It was not only delicious, it was created just for us as the tuna tartare was not a menu item. Service from everyone was exemplary. The food, as we expected from a John Besh establishment, was superb (flamenkuche, duck, shrimp & grits, etoufée.) And a complimentary birthday dessert for one in our party was another extra special touch that capped off a delightful evening. Thanks to everyone at Lüke for a great dining experience!"

  • "I made reservations for 8:30 Saturday night but the restaurant wasn't full at all. Muscles were delicious and the portion is enough for two people. The shrimp and grits were so delicious. The gumbo was good. It wasn't overly spicy or salty. I ordered the pate but it wasn't for me. The relish, pickles, and mustard that comes with it is good. The place was a little noisy but that was because people were enjoying themselves and that is OK. The service was friendly and timely. I will go here on every trip to NO. It's only about 3 blocks from Canal in a quiet area."

  • "We've been here as a couple many times - this was the first time we brought a larger party (7 people) including one guest in a wheelchair. They were super about having our table ready and accommodating each and every one of us. That said, our service was a bit slow on our most recent visit, yet the main dining area did not seem very busy (it was @6:30pm). Previously we've enjoyed stellar and attentive service. This time we did not. But the food, as usual, is predictably delicious and beautiful. It's really a charming brasserie - and one of our regular places to visit each and every time we are in the Big Easy!"

  • "Lovely restaurant...convenient to hotels. Small plates and well presented meals with a creole influence. Very nice wine list from Germany and France. A favorite of our grown children who live in the area. A great escape from the cacophony of the quarter. We enjoyed the grilled Dorado on Israeli couscous and shrimp grits...crawfish bisque was fabulous blend of creamy flavor. Plates of oysters and crawfish...Great choice for travellers or business."

  • "We had the Crawfish Bisque, Steamed Mussels and Shrimp and Grits. All were amazing but the Steamed Chocolate with salted caramel ice cream for desert was by far the best dish of the night. Service was good but a bit slow. We were not told about the specials. We overheard our server telling another table after we had already ordered. Conversation was difficult because of the vibrant music playing. Could have been turned down a couple of notches. Will be back and bringing friends."

  • "When in New Orleans - be sure to check out this restaurant BUT only after you have enjoyed all the Creole/Cajun cuisine which are not to be missed! Luke was a great spot to try something outside of the usual New Orleans fare- best steaks, delicious Jalapeno grits, and amazing cocktails. Service was good, not as attentive as it could have been. We did book our reservation thru opentable yet the hostess was not ready for us when we arrived. Very minor as we were not in a rush, but the floor manager noticed within minutes and was quick to find us a table. A great lively restaurant whose taste lives up to its reputation. Well done."

  • "Our meal was perfect- and the service also....My daughter and I are serious diners, and we know better from best. The craw fish sausage appetizer with the artichoke, oh my! I really want to go back and have this again soon!!!!!"

  • "We are lucky to get a table in the back next to the all windows kitchen so we could watch the team prepared our meal and others. It provides great dinner theater. The food was excellent. the service was very friendly, competent without being stuffy. We liked that there were options at a variety of price points. We took the mid-range and were rewarded with value for money but you also have a fine meal here at a lower cost than most places of this quality. We will return, the breakfast menu also look quiet good."

  • "Although the food and service were very good, we couldn't wait to get out of there because of the noise level. We're from New York City and this restaurant was louder than any other place we've ever been - and that's saying a lot!"

  • "In town for a Annual Meeting of the Cat Fancy is Association, and I really wanted to eat here. First time experience. Not disappointed in the least. Group of four, seated in the back room (where we had a large view of the kitchen), which was considerably quieter and the front bar area. He's very trendy spot. The seafood is outstanding, amazingly fresh. Bread pudding was awesome, likewise our entrées."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at Luke very much. My husband had the fresh fish of the day. I had the roasted chicken. Both were delicious. Our food seemed to take a little long to come out but they were very busy. It was a Monday night. Definitely make a reservation. I'm very glad we went to the restaurant."

  • "The ambiance of this restaurant is fair- you can see an open kitchen in the back room which is amusing to watch them hustle. Food was very rich and flavorful, yet small and overpriced for what was served. The crème brulee is outstanding. Service was great. Beer was bitter no matter what kind you get. Soda served in 8oz glasses and expensive. It is a nice restaurant to try a famous chef's food, yet many others that are less costly and have great food as well in New Orleans."
