This place is delicious and potentially adorable. But we walked in and the lights were blazing. The staff was happy to turn them down, so that was nice. But the 70's funk music that played throughout the meal (good music, but...) was totally unsuited to Italian small plate dining on a Friday night. But it's great, and I presume (hope) this was a fluke miscalculation.

We had a reservation for 7 people at 5:30. It was not crowded, yet the service was quite poor. The waiter had no knowledge of the menu and he was trying to manage 4 tables at once. He wasnt even paying attention to me while I was placing my order. Some entrees came out before appetizers. Some people got their food long before others at my table. It was just a mess!

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner. He had lobster ravioli which he liked very much. I had the octopus which was delicious. Then we shared the calamari, very good, but they used strips rather than rings which I prefer. The scallops were good but a little bit over cooked. The tiramisu was outstanding. We'd definitely go there again. The host is very friendly.

The food was excellent... I picked this restaurant for a group of 8 people who had never been there and it was a hit with everyone. My only comment is that for a group of 8 they only had a long table and I always prefer a round table. They don't have round tables available. Also the music was a bit loud but when I asked to have it lowered it was not a problem. The owner came over and wanted to know how everything was... I always like a personal touch. I would go back again and soon...

I will not shed a tear when Luigi's closes, as it inevitably will. The food was mediocre at best, and the service came with a curious amount of condescension, considering my wife and I were among the only patrons in the place. The meatballs were awful - rubbery and clearly microwaved. the pizza was fine, the amatriciana pasta was ok, spicy for the sake of being spicy, with little real flavor. The cheesecake was the highlight of the meal, even if it wasn't exactly fresh (and our waiter found the idea of asking whether the desserts were fresh laughable). A lackluster experience at best. I will not be returning to Luigi's. I'll just wait for the next restaurant to move in.

This restaurant was becoming my new favorite, but the brunch was horrible. There must not have been any managers or the owner on duty and it showed. I brought 5 friends who had never been and they were all disappointed. I was embarrassed for hyping it up so much. Stick to dinner and you will love it, but the brunch needs a lot of work.

One of the first signs should have been that we did not need a reservation and essentially just walked right in on a busy Saturday night. Food was average at best. My wife makes better Sicilian meatballs, the ones we ate were flavorless. The pizza dough seemed to be lacking salt and made us wish we had taken out from Olio across the street. Linguine and clams were the highlight, but what restaurant can't make that? Portions are small, so the prices add up to the point where it's expensive for the quality of food you get. Service on the slow side. Can't say we'll be back anytime soon.

My husband and I both love this spot. Their dishes are always tasty and prepared perfectly. It's decorated adorably well, and it's got great ambience. Only bad parts are they place the tables along the wall a little too close together, allowing you to hear the other tables' conversations, and the waiter we had the last two times doesn't speak English very well, making the ordering process not the easiest.

Very disappointing. We were hopeful about having a new go to restaurant in our neighborhood, but will not be returning. Our tuna tartare was far too salty and when we ordered the grilled polenta, we were told that they only made 4 of them and the table across the way had already taken them. It was only 6:30 in the evening. Why have something on the menu that you're not prepared to offer your diners? The owner/chef apologized and offered us a complimentary tiramisu, but that did not do much to make us want to return.

Good food, good service, and was relatively inexpensive. I definitely recommend their Italian Sausage Pizza. Their spaghetti and meatballs were just average as well as their spaghetti putanesca. The spinach artichoke dip was fairly watery, but the ahi tuna tartare was very very delicious. Overall, it was a nice place to dine at, wasn't too loud, and had very good service.

Second visit usually drops below expectations, but not last night. Lively Osteria with small plates that belie the portion size. We shared grilled Brussel sprouts with that delicious charred flavor, crispy calamari light and breezy, a very fresh Burrata that would have fed four with fresh basil and toast points, sear grilled sea jumbo sea scallops blackened, fresh, moist, flavorful. The only let down was the pork tenderloin with caramelized apples and onion rings. The pork was more of a steak-let, too well done and dry, with a balsalmic flavored sauce that suppressed any potential. The caramelized apples should have had more time in the pan, and the onion rings tho very crispy battered, were stringy and hard to chew. Let's push for specials

Luigi's was fine. But just fine. I was underwhelmed. The menu was terrific, but what I ordered was just okay. This is walking distance for me, so I was hoping to have my socks knocked off, but that didn't happen. It certainly wasn't a bad experience. But neither was it a "great" experience. Give it a try - maybe you'll like it better than I did. (P.S. I gave it a "quiet" rating, but that's only because we were the only people in the entire restaurant.)

The seared scallops appetizer was amazing and our small plate pasta dishes extremely well done and "just enough." Service was terrific and the chef owner was out front greeting and thanking his customers. This place is a "keeper." We'll surely be back.

First try at this small 3rd street osteria - great small plates menu, limited wine menu; service was a little amateurish, with one final plate coming 10 minutes after the others. We also had to prompt the server for any specials. The food, however, was excellent. Avocado salad was a large portion, very fresh, crisp, delightful. The lemon poached calimari salad was quite tasty, and the roasted beet salad received raves. Second plates of grilled polenta with mushrooms and a balsamic sauce was out of this world, despite its relative simplicity. A Margherita pizzette was very crisp and tasty. The scallops were fresh delightful. Tho " small plate " by concept, portion sizes were quite large, with pricing quite moderate. Overall, Excellent night!

Came for din din to catch up with my girls and found out Luigi's went to a small plate concept, which seems like the natural thing to do in L.A. I just loooved the poached calamari salad, and my girlfriend had the avocado salad was was very complex! The tuna tartare was great as always, the chicken legs were covered in this amazing tomatoe sauce made from fresh tomatoes. The stuffed mushrooms were soo flavorfull and amazing, but by far my favorite are the brussel sprouts - best ever! The next item that surprised me is the spinach lasagna, as I am not a lasagna girl, but it was just so packed with vegetables and so well spices and had just enough cheese. It was to dye for! So thei mushrooms, brussell sprounts and lasagna a must try!
