luellaReliableLuella definitely is not the most eccentric foodie spot but the food is really good and solid, especially for vegetarians. The pizza, however, was not good. I love the neighbourhood. In terms of pricing, Luella is overpriced for what they offer. Flora in oakland has a similar prices and similar cuisine but the food is 10 times better. But I guess sf is different.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful family owned restaurantVery attentive owners & staff. Food was excellently prepared!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLove LuellaWe took three friends to Luella for dinner on Saturday night and had a wonderful round table in the back room that enabled good conversation. All dishes were excellent; you have to love a chef who thinks two pieces of delicious fried chicken is a great APPETIZER. Good wine selection. Yummy desserts.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMsolid choice!I hadn't been here in over 4+ years and I'm really glad I went back! It was delicious. Perfect spot to celebrate my birthday and our waitress was awesome!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner in San FranVery warm, friendly staff. Service was great. My experience at Luella Sunday evening was simply divine. For once, I am just about speechless. The service, the food, the wine, the company, EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of my night! Thank you for giving me something else to put in writing.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA little to progressiveI had the Beef Wellington which was really good. The menu is very limited so my wife decided to try the Pork Shoulder Coke A Cola. Should have known better. The pork was cooked to perfection. The reduced coke sauce was just a little too sweet and the addition of Mint really hurt the dish. I would definitely give this place another try but don't think my wife would.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest dinner we had in SFLuella was the surprising gem and the best food we had on our trip to San Francisco. My husband said they had the best oysters he has ever had. Nestled on quaint Hyde street remember that if you want a cocktail you better stop somewhere off of Hyde St first because the entire street only serves beer and wine.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMToo full for dessert~Our first time on a non prix-fixe night so we tried many more of the options than usual. Maybe too many of them since we did have some leftovers! Everything was wonderful. We had a first-timer with us but she enjoyed every bit of the food as well. Entrees were the Blue Plate paella, the Coca-Cola braised pork shoulder (always a must), the pan fried chicken (crispy skin and tasty meat) and the short rib lasagna. There were only 3 of us but we shared it all.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was excellent. The service was excellent. The menu was very limited in my opinion. No entree specials offered and I recall only 4 or 5 entrees. Easy to get to by cable car. What I love--its small enough that you always get great service and its a place that isn't crowded with a bus load of tourists. It very much caters to the locals and shines as a beacon of hospitality, warmth and variety. The staff is well versed and truly cares about their guests and the menu. If you haven't tried it, you should--you won't be disappointed.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it! the food was fabulous,Loved it! the food was fabulous, they were running their annual wine event which is $4 for any glass of wine and $20 for any bottle; a rocking deal. You did not dissappointment me.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant has a lovelyThe restaurant has a lovely ambience with an exceptional menu to match. We will probably not return simply because the parking situation will cause you to weep. It took 30 minutes to find a parking space five blocks away. The nearest public garage on Polk charges $30.
