A word from Lucques
Since opening in 1998 Lucques has garnered extraordinary accolades and is now recognized as one of the country’s best restaurants. It's California cuisine with French and Mediterranean influences is served in the warm and intimate setting of the rustic carriage house of the original Harold Lloyd estate.

One of the reasons for the all the acclaim is the Sunday Supper, the night that best exemplifies the original mission of owners Chef Suzanne Goin and Sommelier Caroline Styne, by offering seasonal prix fix menus that re-create the atmosphere of a relaxed family dinner.

Our party of four celebrated our wedding anniversary with the Sunday Suppers evening at Lucques. We arrived a few minutes early. The hostess was very cordial and gave us the choice of a few outside tables and a few tables inside. We chose inside as it was quite a warm evening. Our server, Sarah, was absolutely wonderful. She was skillful with pouring our wine and very knowledgeable about the menu. I would hope to have her serve us again. We had a difficult time deciding between the duck confit and the trout and finally went with the trout. She allowed us to order one of the duck confit dinners to share for a mid course, which turned out to be a great idea. We all got to taste it and still have the trout. We all loved our dinner.

Took my girlfriend here for our first-year anniversary after reading wonderful reviews on various websites. I forgot the name of our waitress (we went about a week ago), but she was so wonderful. She was funny, sweet, and very helpful on informing us about the restaurant and recommending what we should order. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, and the food was better than expected. I'd definitely recommend Lucques.

We've only been in LA for a year and a half since moving from NYC, and we've found LA restaurants have finally become really good. They're terrific compared with 20 years ago. But in all this good news, we hadn't still found our "go to" place; our favorite. Until now. We've been to Lucques twice in the past three weeks and all we can say is "we're home". It is simply the best restaurant in Los Angeles.

If you're looking for a pleasant place w/ amazing food to celebrate a life event, Lucques is just the place. We were lucky to be seated behind the chimney where we enjoyed the breeze from the outside patio. I ordered the steak w/ a nice glass of pinot noir after first munching on a soft-shell crab app. I've enjoyed coming to Lucques over the years and it never ceases to amaze me how good, organic, local food simply goes the distance and makes for a memorable meal. Do yourself a favor and stop avoiding luck. Get to Lucques and treat yourself to nature's bounty. If available, order the Santa Rosa plums dessert!

Once one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, but now a total disappointment. Stopped going a couple of years ago because the quality was going down. Thought I'd try it again for lunch. It was not good. I was served something I did not order. Had to wait until my other guests were finished with their lunch before I received mine. The appetizer (corn soup) and the main course (grilled eggplant on ricotta cheese toast) were both bland and uninteresting. A total waste of time and money.

My wife and I went here based on Jonathan Gold's 101 Best Restaurants in LA 2014, and my wife's request for bday dinner: "Somewhere with real portions, isn't loud, good lighting and service." In LA, that's actually harder to find than you would think. Lucques delivered in terms of food service. We did wine "by the glass" and were both very pleased. I would absolutely return. They also paid attention to my OpenTable request, writing out "Happy Birthday" on the plate and singing her Happy Birthday very quietly at triple speed. It was sweet. My only complaint was the size of the table - it was small for two people, and we were right on top of the people next to us. My recommendation - ask for one of the shared booth tables.

Lucques, until now, has always been one of my favorite restaurants. But since Suzanne Goin has gone on to open many other restaurants, she has lost her concentration on Lucques, and the quality of the food has completely slipped. Our starters, mostly salads, were fine, but then again they weren't anything complicated. But all of our entrees were not near the standard of preparation and quality I have come to expect from her food. I won't go there again.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Pork ribs, beef ribs, lamb ribs and spicy chicken wings. All well prepared and accompanied by a refreshing watermelon and arugula salad, not too sweet baked beans, sweet corn on the cob, collard greens (hubby enjoyed), cornbread (hubby enjoyed), coleslaw with a light non-mayo dressing and strawberry-peach cobbler with buttermilk ice cream. Our first time here and we can't say enough good things. We loved the set-up. Indoor and covered rear patio dining. We chose indoor for the booth and the rustic European look. Great mixology drinks with layered flavoring in them. The menu was not extensive, which guarantees great cooking. We were not disappointed in our choices. Excellent!

Our server Sarah was so friendly and had great suggestions for us, the weather outside on the patio was lovely, and the food was perfection. So fresh, so beautifully prepared, so colorful and pleasing to both the palate and the eye, and we are so happy that we had our birthday celebration at Lucques. We love that the menu changes all the time but we still miss the beignet for dessert. Thank you so much for our beautiful meal.

The Sunday Supper here was amazing. Amazingly balanced flavors in the salad. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the housemade gnocchi was a perfect al dente. The breadcrumbs on the gnocchi also show a sense of texture and understanding the various tensions you need in a dish to take it to "the next level". The service was so professional and also pleasant (sometimes you don't get both). And I loved the relaxed timing of the courses but my friend got antsy (FYI). Would definitely make this a must-go on my trips to LA.
