  • "If you are two busy to get the food out hot and in timely manner....fix it....Friday at Lucky's was not what we expected... We haven't eaten here in a while since we just moved back to SB.... the prices are still high but the food did not live up to expectations. Our mussels came out as if they had been setting there to long as they were only warm at best....wife's steak was over done but we did not want to wait for them to cook another one since we had waited so long for our dinner. My Steak juices had been left on plate and make fries soggy....Very disappointing as we live 2 blocks away and would like to come more often."

  • "I've been going to Lucky's for years now and it has not changed one bit in all this time. Lucky's is excellent on every level. It's always a pleasure to dine there. They make the best martini in town. And let me tell you about the meatloaf (only on Tuesday night) - it is a wonder made by Leonard's own recipe from years ago at 72 Market Street restaurant (my favorite haunt 30 years ago!). That darn meatloaf will knock you socks off."

While it was next to a welcome, roaring fire, it was also at the entrance to the kitchen which meant there was a lot of server traffic. Service was awesome! We had a great time and a great meal!"

  • "steak, very over salted. At $57.00 for a steak I was dissapointed, over cooked and over salted and really not that great a piece of meat. The abalone last time were really great, this time too much was added to them, very oily,salty. The wine was very good and the onion rings very good. The salads were very good. nice place to look at.   • "Have eaten here many times and went for our anniversary. Got a requested quiet table.. Shared a Lucky's Salad, which was delicious, with shrimp better than some we had at another restaurant the night before. As for the main dish, I have had many steaks at Lucky's, as has my wife, but these filets may have been the best ever – tender, rich in flavor. Their creamed corn always is a treat. My wife loved her martini and my Chardonay was fine. Mentioned our special event online and the restaurant provided a complimentary sundae, capping a night of fine service. Lucky's isn't cheap – when we took our younger son, who lives in India, he emailed a picture of the menu prices to his friends – but this is a fine dining place that's worth the price."

  • "Periodically, we take a 50 minute drive to Montecito just to dine at this steakhouse. While we have Mastro's, another great place, just a few miles from home - the drive to Lucky's is worth it. The abalone is always fresh and a hard to find treat. Lucky's steaks are quality, we enjoy sharing the porterhouse. Unfortunately, the maitre'd butter was not melted over the steak as promised. Peppercorn sauce on the side is good. Lucky's has some of the best side dishes, we opted for the beets which were fantastic and plentiful. My personal favorite sharing plate is Herbie's Potato Skins.These skins are NOT loaded, they are just crisp potato skins served with a tasty sour cream sauce. Service is friendly and casual, yet very polished staff."

  • "We are locals and have never dined at Lucky's. First, let me say the service was terrific and it's a lovely location. The food was good but this said, I've had much better bistro/steak fare in SF for a FRACTION of the cost. The menu is VERY OVERPRICED. It's ridiculous. We were expecting that it would be a splurge, even brought our own fabulous bottle of wine (they charge $25 corkage which is standard), but $55 for a 10 oz NY steak (while it was cooked nicely) with NO side dishes is excessive. Sides like one baked potato or asparagus (for one) are $15 each which is excessive. WIthout alcohol/wine, plan on $125 a person for a simple entree meal. We miss Cafe Luck in DT Santa Barbara which was a gem and a favourite place to go."

  • "Lucky's is trying to be a high priced steak house but the quality of meat is far below top steak houses in the US. Even chain steakhouses (Flemming, Sullivan's, Palm) do a better job with quality. I had the grilled veal chop which I did not finish - it was covered in sauce which covered the taste of the chop - when tasting the chop without sauce it had no taste and was tough. We also had the buffalo rid eye which was sold as a flavorful lean meat - it was also tasteless and fatty. SB and Montecito is captive to restaurants like this that can get away with poor quality unlike a big city. This restaurant would never make it in SF, LA or NYC. PS the bar is completely entertaining with cougars fighting for one or two pieces of meat"

  • "Goto place for high powered business dinner with a more relaxed atmosphere. Other than the bar, quirky facilities will never live up to its 4 star billing. Good service and tasty entree (tuna and bone in steak). Sweet potato chips are great. Found a local Pinot (Cargasacchi) reasonably priced. Pecan pie was incredibly dry and just fell apart into crumbs. Never quite leave there feeling the bill was worth it. But almost."

  • "The first time at Lucky's, incredible! We so looked forward to a second visit and hosted a birthday celebration for six there. Our waitress was attentive as we ordered cocktails, salad and wines but disappeared after the entrees were served. After three bites of my meat, I stopped eating it, because it was dry and had so much gristle. The waitress didn't come back to the table, but with others in the group enjoying their meals, I didn't want to make a scene getting up to look for her. When she returned to pick up the plates, she asked if something was wrong with my meat. I told her the problem and said I would have sent it back had she come by to ask how everything was, but she just picked up my plate and left. Disappointing!"

  • "We were just wrapping up a weeklong trip to Montecito and Santa Barbara with my husband, sister and brother-in-law and as it was Valentine's Day we decided to go for broke and indulge in a great dinner. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table as the place was very crowded. We had a lovely dinner and even though the service was very slow, i'm guessing to give us an unhurried dining experience, they were very attentive and continued to check on us during the evening. I was a bit surprised that they didn't offer anything special for Valentine's Day but we all enjoyed our meals. The steaks were done perfectly!"

  • "We have been here before and this time, on a Saturday night, it was very busy and very noisy. We unfortunately were seated too close to the kitchen so all staff kept walking by our table and then had to deal with a group of 10 at a long table and they were loud trying to talk with each other. Food was very good and our service was excellent. A nice steakhouse in central Montecito but if busy need to be prepared for some noise."

  • "Having been to Lucky's several times now, the experience has been varied, but always good overall. The best is if you are on a romantic date and you can get a small table near the fireplace in the back room. From this vantage point the noise level is quieter and you can enjoy your company and food. Anywhere else in the restaurant is quite noisy, but in an energetic way, not annoyingly. The food and service are great; a not-to-be-missed experience with great local history."
