Diner Reviews
  • "I heard about Lucky Chengs from articles, and basic Internet chatter. I was totally down for a night of singing and dancing and drag queen humor. What I got was a night of lap dances. The night opened with birthday lap dances, then there were some songs, and then there was a lap dance amateur competition. If you're into that kind of thing, this is a great place. It's probably fun for bachelorette parties, or a night out with the gays, but it was really inappropriate for an evening out with my mother. On a positive note, the food was really good (but the portions were really small), and the emcee was hilarious. Also, the neighborhood is a bit shady."

  • "I made a reservation on OpenTable only to find when I arrived with my friends for the reservation, Lucky Cheng's was closed!!! OpenTable did NOT notify me and our night was shot because of it!"

  • "Well Lucky Chengs was a good time. Its certainly not for the faint at heart bc there was no shortage of older lady boys in bikinis and short shorts. However it was upbeat energetic the girls were pretty attentive and entertaining. The food was not great but the drinks were STRONG! So btwn the drinks and the girls it was worth the trip. Oh. And don't bring any straight men with you ladies!"

  • "This was a 3 man show!! It was so bad I was embarrassed for them! Such a waste of $250!! Food was terrible!! Big disappointment!!"

  • "One of the best drag shows I've ever seen! Every single person made a life long impression on you. There was not one person from the hostess to the bus boys to the beautiful performers that were not personable or had a wonderful personality. This is a must do if you are ever in New York!"

  • "I don't think anyone goes there for the food, but seriously, don't go there for the food. The drag queens walked around terrified of the owner, who is not a very nice person, they had a 20% tip to your already overpriced bill and then still ask for some tip money. A hot mess"

  • "Lucky Cheng's is a great place to go for a fun night out in NYC. Everyone that works there is just fabulous! The entire time there was fun and entertaining. The drinks were outstanding and the food was delicious. I will recommend Lucky Cheng's to anyone that is visiting NYC!"

  • "This place is a must visit while in NYC. The "girls" are fun and friendly. The show is not for kid."

  • "Seriously. The food was disgusting. Even the patrons seated around us did not eat their food. Very disappointing-like a Chuck E Cheese version of the club I loved so long ago in the village. There were only ten men in the room--the rest were ladies celebrating birthdays and bachelorette parties, so that was TOTALLY gross. Arrived first, seated last in back with terrible views, which was actually a good thing, because the show was so unorganized and sloppy that Lady Bunny would roll in her grave, and she ain't dead yet. The only nice queens were the younger and prettier waitstaff, and they should have been on stage. Thanks for turning the high art of drag into a bourgeois, K-Mart nightmare."

  • "We went as a girls night out. The entertainment was ok, but the food was really bad. The appetizers were ok, but all 4 of us couldn't eat our main course, the dessert was cookies from a box."

  • "We went to Lucky Chengs for my sisters 50 the birthday. We had a great time! The "ladies" were wonderful! Lots of fun, snarky and sarcastic, definitely R-rated!! I was very surprised to see people had brought some younger boys with them. Not appropriate!!! We used a Groupon. There's a few choices for appetizer and entree. We all had the same chicken skewers and combination fried rice. The food was good, better than I expected! There was a dessert plate brought out with cannolis, mini carrot cake and fudge cakes. Very tasty!but you come here for the show, not the food! The performers were lots of fun! Lip-syncing and energetic dancing with dirty comedy thrown in! We had a blast! Warning! Lots of cursing! Fun for bachelorettes and birthdays!"

  • "The 'girls' were VERY welcoming, witty, friendly and raunchy. Although the place was small, the ambiance made up for it. The show ran a little short, but I absolutely LOVED every minute of it. The food was served family style, which was convenient, and surprisingly delicious. I would definitely come here again for the fun and laughs!"

  • "We were kicked out at 7 on the dot even if you hadn't finished eating/drinking because another show was starting at 7:30. After paying $700, that was not ok. And the staff was rude when we said something about that. Also, there should be an age limit to get in. There was an 8 & 13 yr old the night we went! Too sexually raunchy for them to be there. We were all disturbed by that. "

  • "Well as all other reviews go, You go here for the SHOW! Lot's of laughs, it's a real good time! Servers & show girls make the place alot of fun. Food not terrible, but could be much better, with better choices on menu for pre-fix prices. "

  • "It was great and everyone had a great time! You go for the experience more than the food. Most of the food was good but the white gravy tasted horrible."

  • "i went on time at the restaurant, but they told me to come another day because that night they didn't have the show at 9.30pm as i reserved. i come back on wednesday, all was ok, but it wasn't "saturday night"......"

  • "While the food and ambiance could use some work, it doesn't really matter because you will be laughing the night away. We had a great time the most fun I've ever had at dinner. "

  • "We went to Lucky Cheng's to celebrate a milestone birthday with entertainment that was fun - to that end we had a great time! We were all there on time for our reservation so we got a good table. The waitresses were absolutely fabulous in customer service - she brought us a replacement drink at no charge, when one of ours spilled over, chatted some, took photos for us and even posed with us. Since we got our drinks and food well before the show started, we were happy campers. We felt that the cost which covered food, drinks and entertainment was good value for money. Audience participation in the entertainment show was a great idea, although we did not volunteer to participate. Highly recommended!"

  • "Despite many mixed reviews, I found my evening out at Lucky Cheng's was a HOOT! Went there with the mind set of having fun! The show is unconventional and not for everyone, but it is all good fun! Pull your sticks out of your backsides and leave at the door!. If you are offended by cussing and take life too seriously, this place is not for you. It's entertainmanet and a fabulous show!!! Food is good, drinks are fun."

  • "I took some friends from out of town to Lucky Chengs on a Sunday night. It was a night to remember. The service is great. The show was fantastic. Strong drinks. Amazing energy. One of my friends turned to me and said "This is the most fun I have ever had". Success!"

  • "I came here for my friend's bachelorette and it started off great! Then our food came...I don't know how hard it is to mess up fried rice, but it must be pretty easy. Basically none of us ate even though we went in with the understanding that the food would not be that good. We tried to talk to our waiter about it but before we knew it was time to go. Take a careful look at the bill though because they will whack you with an automatic 20% tip and they pass around empty envelopes for you to tip the performers! I don't think this is a spot we will be checking out again."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "And I haven't laughed that hard and long in months! There is nothing like dinner and a show but dinner and a show at Lucky Cheng's is fabulous. Super entertaining and the food was great. I would definitely go again!"

  • "We booked this purely on reviews. I can strongly advise anyone to stay away at all costs. The meal is a prix fixe at $80 for a starter and main with no desert. The starter we chose was spring rolls and these were evidently just frozen from a supermarket. The main we chose were different rice dishes. The most watered down chicken was added to the, what felt like, 99% water rice. We both refused to eat the rice dishes as did every other diner we saw with the rice. The bill came to $103 once they had added their tip fee, they then had the audacity to shove an envelope in front of your face to ask for additional tips. On top of this paying $10 for one drink was not the image I had. Needless to say we will never return again. Very disappointed"

  • "Go for the show - not for the food. Did the 'premium' (ie additional charge) pu pu platter, and got a few globs of fat (pork?). The spring rolls were tasty. Bland fried rice as entree. The show is fun, especially the number including audience participants. Now I've seen it once; do not need to go back!"

  • "The ladies where amazing and more than hospitable, the waitresses were kind but had edge and attitude, which of course was perfect for the scene. The entertainment and dinning went fabulously together and the audience participation made it so you were a part of the show too! Will certainly be coming back next time I visit NYC!!!"
