  • "Went to the restaurant for the first time looking forward to their BYOB atmosphere. Immediately started having attitude issues from one wait staff in particular criticizing our choice in wine. We were left waiting for a significant amount of time between courses and also also at the end of the night waiting for the bill. Their payment system doesn't let you split up bills and she tried to explain we could simply tell her how to split the amount on different credit cards which is fine. But when we asked if we needed to include the tip in that split amount or if we could add it after, she became very condescending saying "it's not complicated, just tell me how much." " and "you must not understand how credit cards work". Poor poor service"

The eight dollar corking fee added to the bill made for an over sixty dollars a person meal much more than the $$ that Open Table has it down for."

  • "Excellent food & wait service, but there seems to be a new (or newly enforced) policy of ONE - and one only - glass per person for the entire evening, which is inconsistent with the concept of BYO beverages. Those expecting to pour more than one wine (or whatever) at a time should bring in their own glasses now. It would be very helpful if Lucio's management would publish this policy so that diners can be prepared to take care of their own stemware needs. While our waitress was apologetic about this situation, and very professional, when we brought to concerns and disappointment to management's attention, they were met with indifference and outright belligerence."

  • "I have no idea what's with all the rave reviews. Made a reservation for 8pm, got there at 8:05 they took forever trying to find my reservations, there was nothing inside open so we sat outside, it was kind of chilly and I was annoyed. There's literally 2 servers for the whole restaurant, it took them 30 mins just to get our order, water was barely refilled. It took forever for our food to come out, my bf got the duck which was just alright, nothing out of the ordinary. I got the Tuna tartare and I have had better fresher tuna at other places. Desert menu didn't even look appetizing."

  • "Lucio's is fantastic! We ordered multiple items from each menu and each was joyful and surprising. Sitting quietly behind Pass & Provisions, Lucio's pulls off a familial, neighborhood secret-kind of vibe; it's a fun, playful place that resists the temptation to be trendy. There's no two-story glass-walled wine cellars or exotic light fixtures dominating the room here, and likewise the dishes don't come with a dozen components daring you to Google them under the table. My King Salmon came on a bed of spinach with a parsnip puree tying them together, and right now I'm wondering if I've ever had more perfectly-cooked fish. Service is kind-yet-detached, which is perfect for me, but heads-up if you prefer yours more chummy or chatty."

  • "This was our first time to Lucio's and we will put it on the list of "go-again" restaurants. For this meal, we were in a bit of a hurry and so had only an appetizer, soup and salad. All three were very delicious and we left quite satisfied. I think, however, that OpenTable needs to reconsider their pricing symbols. This restaurant scored two $$'s but several items fell into the $$$ category. Maybe a hybrid system like $$-$$$, or $$$-$$$$, etc etc."

  • "We had a friend from out of town visiting and we wanted to go to a place that allowed BYOB. We could not have picked a better place. THis place is small but it is vary popular. Our friend had the Ahi which she said was some of the best she ever ate and she's from California where they have great Ahi. My wife had scallops and they were cooked perfectly. I had lamb shoulder, I am a fan of good lamb and this did not disappoint. The deserts are also not to be missed the bread pudding and warm brownie were the perfect ending to a great meal and a great time. You need to check this out in Houston."

  • "Only reason not 5 star is that it took quite awhile for the food to come to the table after ordering. We were not in a hurry enjoying our bottle of wine, but the kitchen may be too small to handle a lot of orders at once if it is a crowded evening. Our waiter was wonderful, I think he knew things were a bit slow, so he brought us a dessert for free to share before bringing the check. all in all a great meal, the food was absolutely great, very tasty and cooked to perfection, and between the 4 of us we had steak, rare ahi tuna, and sea bass, all fantastic."

  • "Our dinner was fabulous! We each had a salad - house and pear - both excellent. Our entrees were the salmon and the sea bass - delicious, and we shared the apple tartin - so-o-o good. And a real plus for us - we can take our own wine. We will definitely return soon. Everything was perfect."

  • "We ate there for the second time in a few months. We have been going there for years, but lack of ambience sometimes leads us to other neighborhood BYOBs. No longer. They have a new chef or at least a new approach. Food is now more sophisticated, refined, well-expedited. Presentation of entrees is more upscale. Menu is obviously trying to be something special. If the food quality we experienced was being turned out at a place that wasn't a total hole in the wall, you'd never be able to get a reservation here. I'd put the last two meals we had here up against anything else in the loop. We each had salads to start and ordered one hangar steak and one fish special. Both cleaned our plates."

  • "best calamari ever! we're from sf, have traveled all over the world, this calamari is melt-in-your-mouth amazing. fine dining, wonderful find; serving portions from appetizer to dessert are french-style...you can eat EVERYTHING on your plate & feel satisfied. nice blend of flavors too. refreshing to see an anderson valley cabernet franc on the wine list, reminds us of home. we highly recommend lucio's."

  • "Our evening at Lucio's was a lovely anniversary celebration. We were greeted by ne when we entered and wished a happy anniversary warmly. It was a cold Monday night and the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived at 7 pm. However the patrons soon arrived. We each had a glass of wine but if we had come with friends we would have brought a bottle. We shared the crab tower appetizer: pure crab with a delicious avocado mousse. My husband loved his duck breast and my hanger steak was cooked perfectly. For dessert we shared an apple tart. It was very good. We would definitely come back for a special occasion."

  • "This was not our first time here. We go for special occasions and invite friends to go with us sometimes. The food is usually outstanding but on this night there were a few flaws. Our first and second course of the night were excellent however the ribeye was not cooked to order and was very chewy. The sea bass was prefect! We can not complain about the dessert. We ate every bite. We will go back but we will make sure to check our meat before the waitress walks away. I believe they should ask us to cut the meat to see if it's prepared correctly before they walk away."

  • "We were almost seated in the room with a party in progress but were eventually moved to another room thankfully as we felt very awkward. We ordered rib eyes that were so tough even then serrated knife had trouble cutting through the meat literally sawing back and forth so ended up leaving most of it. The service was terrible as all of the wait staff was waiting on the party in the other room leaving us in the other room without food for over an hour. We've tried this restaurant several times. The first time was excellent but the last several times it has been terrible so this will be our last unfortunately. You have to listen to your customer base if you want to establish a following and Lucio's just doesn't understand this."

  • "Dinner reservation for two on a weekday. When we first walked in, we were greeted immediately. The room and tables appeared small. Open kitchen concept. More group tables set than tables for two. First thing that came to mind was keep elbows in and prepare my voice pitch/hearing. Nope, not the experience I had at all! We were given seating options. We chose the window by the front door. Normally, this would be thought as a bad decision, however, this was opposite. Great choice. Quiet. Romantic. +Calamari +Duck (x2) +Sides +Dessert. Food was great! Duck was moist, sweet, not gamey. We brought our own wine and champagne but they did offer a nice list. Service was good; did their jobs well. Very happy guest."

  • "My wife and I love Lucio's. We like it partially for sentimental reasons, but mostly for the great food, service, and ambiance. This place is a neighborhood gem. The food and service our always incredible, and you can't beat BYOB. This latest time we had the Calamari appetizer which is lightly coated and comes with two great dips, the apple goat cheese salad which is a must-have, the rib-eye which was perfectly cooked, and the fish special which was described as "japanese equivalent of redfish" and it was excellent as well. We finished with coffee (french press) and the panna cotta. Every time we come it makes us want to make it a weekly tradition, the only reason we don't is the distance from our house."

  • "Our office held its holiday party at Lucio's for the second year in a row. We had the outdoor space reserved in 40 degree weather. Yet only one heater was operational as they said they were out of propane. Yet, there were three empty tanks sitting on the deck. Knowing that they had about 40 people coming they did not think to exchange the tanks and when we complained about the cold they said we could move inside. We were told not to set our drinks on the tables. Yet, accidetally one empty wine glass was knocked off and broke. A waiter asked us to pay for the broken glass. I refused and told your manager that I will never be back there. I've worked at my company for 15 years and told the host not to expect me next year unless elsewhere."
