My wife and a few friends had dinner while down in the area. We enjoyed the fried chicken and burger. The chili biscuits are super delicious, so we had to get two orders. Good atmosphere, not too quiet while comfortable enough to carry a normal conversation.

We were a picky, foodie, goofy bunch ranging from 30-somethings from Colorado, DC,& Translyvania (not the fictional...the real geographical region!) to 80- somethings from Montana with birthdays to celabrate. Also a few local inbetweeners & other Southwesterners. Cross section of travelers, medical profeasional, artist, academician, businessmen, retirees, but Sid helped us choose GREAT food we all loved, chatted as if we were the only guests in the place, & helped take photos. Everyone agreed it couldn't have been better. We'll be back in one configuration or another. Amazing crab beignets! Tres leches out of this world, as were duck & oyster blt, &, &....

Seemed a bit pricey for "comfort food", but everything was delicious. Especially enjoyed the fried oyster appetizer. Quiet atmosphere made conversation enjoyable which is hard to find these days where most places resound with hustle and bustle and echoing sound. Fried chicken and mac and cheese especially good.

Introduced another couple to this gem. AS usual, everyone had great meals and a nice time. Fried green tomatoes, watermelon salad, Caesar salad, shrimp and grits, yardbird, and surf and turf were all well prepared and presented. For a nice evening when you want to chat - this is the place.

We've been to Lucille's before and had great dining experiences. Not so much this time. Most everything was under seasoned (which is hard to do when one of the entrees is the Fried Chicken). The Mac n Cheese was particularly disappointing - under salted and too much truffle oil. Hoping that this was a one-off bad night for the kitchen and not the start of a downhill slide.

The cozy atmosphere was perfect, and, though the menu is abbreviated, it was incredibly difficult to decide what to order because everything looked good. The fried oyster appetizer was delicious and should be expanded to be an entree. The entree portions were generous and both the pork chop and the shrimp and grits were the type of comfort food that would normally make one feel guilty, yet this food didn't leave either one of us with a "too heavy" feeling. We cannot wait to go back and bring friends!

While it's been on the menu for a while, I tried the shrimp and grits for the first time. The shrimp were large, firm, and flavorful. The grits had taste and were rich and creamy rather than bland as grits can be. I don't like cheese, so I was happy that they were just regular grits. The tomato-based also is just right, whereas a creamy sauce would be too much. But I really miss the oyster sliders! The service was prompt, but I wouldn't have minded it being a little more leisurely. We each just had one course, so they moved us out pretty quickly. At least we had no trouble making our show in time.

I was a bit disappointed my second time here. I was seated in a back area where I was the only patron for most of my meal. The service was fantastic, though. I had the fried green tomatoes and they were excellent. But the chili biscuits I had before were even better. For my entree i had the shrimp and grits. It was good.

Took a client here for lunch. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. He had the schrimp and grits and I had the chicken. Fried green tomatoes and bisquets to start; very tasty. They were busy for lunch. Don;t know if this contributed to our service, but we had 3 or 4 different people taking orders, drinks, clearing, and bill paying. We had a to wait a bit for the drinks to get there. Our food was slow coming out, but correct). They would fill my water glass and not my client's ice tea glass. Then I had to get up and go to the bar to pay the bill, since no one came. This hasn't happened to me before here. There seemed to be plently of waitstaff, just not organized?? I'll be back. love this place. This other thing can be fixed.

The standard on how Soul Food should be presented, welcome to the stage Lucille's. Chris the chef has merged authentic soul fool with urban style to introduce an upscale dining experience that not only makes you excited to eat there but fills the appetite. Chris' handpicked staff is extremely friendly and aims to please. The atmosphere was inviting and warm. If you are looking for a quite place for a romantic dinner or want to just have an enjoyable dinner with friends this is the place. Let me add that this is a feel good restaurant not a shabby fly by night joint. So if you are attending a formal event at one of Houston's fantastic museums or going to a college football game this is the place.

I went to Lucille's for restaurant week. Unfortunately, the menu is so ridiculously expensive, that it's probably the only time I will go. I tried the fried oysters, which were quite good if you're an oyster lover. I also had the really fancy hot dog. It was just okay. I have no complaints about the service. Perhaps it's the service that you're really paying for.

I was anxious to try Lucille's and happened to have reservations during Restaurant Week. The special menu was great and had many offerings of items I wanted to try off the regular menu. A very good deal! Exceptional price and very generous course portions. Everyone loved their drinks and dinner. We tried the crafted cocktails (you must)...great fun. Fried Green Tomatoes, Chili Biscuits, Shrimp and Grits were huge winners. Dessert, as a smaller bite, was perfect since no one was going to go away hungry; so much better than those huge dessert concoctions you get elsewhere. Just right. The vibe and atmosphere were wonderful, super easy self-parking, lovely service, and prompt attention from the hostess too. We will be back!

We meet our friends from time to time for dinner and drinks. It was our turn to pick and treat so I brought them to one of my favorites spots. They adored all of the appetizers, especially the signature chili biscuits, so we ordered more. The pork was undercooked for our tastes but they took both plates back and returned them in no time. The Peas & Pork was a succulent dish and seasoned to perfection. the other two has the Yardbird and were equally pleased. Cocktails were fun and unique. Tried the Strawberry Jalapeno punch and learned it has to be slipped slowly to avoid choking : ) Great evening!

Lucille's is in a renovated cottage very close to the Children's Museum. Parking is very easy; across the street from the restaurant. The interior is very pretty and cozy. The HRW menu had all the items that we wanted try so we were able to order off that special menu. For appetizers, we had the fried oysters and the fried Greek tomatoes. Both very delicious. For main courses, we had the Yardbird chicken (with mac & cheese and collard greens) as well as the pork (with black-eyed peas and collard greens). Both were also delicious. Desert (tres leches and brownie) were good but nothing special. Service from our waiter Craig was terrific. Can't wait to return to this neighborhood gem and try other items in the menu.

Mike had the fried oysters and I tried the chili biscuits on the Houston week menu and we both enjoyed them thoroughly. He had the porkchop which was huge and seasoned well, while I had to try the fried chicken. Although, I had to send my first plate back due to a tinge of blood...can't eat raw yard bird....the second plate was over the top awesome. I've been checking out the fancy fried chicken and Lucille's ranks up there with Frank's Grill and Max's Wine Dive. We will return for sure
