My friend and I have been celebrating our birthdays together for quite some time and we always try to find new places where neither one has been. We found such a spot this year in Lucille's. Great food great atmosphere we both had the burger and dinner fries. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes and she had the Greens. We even met the head chef and owner Chris Williams. What a great place for such an occasion.

Lucille's is one of those completely unexpected finds. The billing is of traditional recipes that have been expanded and updated, with the exception of a few that are still in their original form. It starts with a range of imaginative cocktails. Not sure what you want? Let them know and take what they make. The food is also an incredible treat. Get all of the appetizers. Fried oysters? Unbelievable. Chili biscuits? Tongue buzz. Fried green tomatoes? Delectable. Mousse and pickles? total decadence. Just get them all. Main courses: We have been through the "pork and beans", roasted grouper, lamb shank and braised fried yardbird (oh yeah, baby). Desserts? I think we ate all of them along with a great coffee-infused bourbon cocktail. Just go.

Easily got a last minute reservation and found the restaurant comfortably busy when we arrived. Chili biscuits, shrimp & grits, and grouper special were all delicious (though the kale that came with the grouper was a little chewy and a bit too salty). Ordered a bottle of California wine that was recommended on the menu--it was excellent and reasonably priced. Looking forward to going back soon.

The decor and ambiance is informal and laid back -- which is nice if you want to have a good date but aren't looking to dress up. Plus, it was really quiet -- *really* quiet. I was there with my girlfriend and we appreciated how easy it was to hear each other. However, entrees are $25+ and the food just isn't that great.

The food was very tasty, but was very overpriced. I had Yardbird chicken. Two pieces of Southern style fried chicken, greens, and macaroni and cheese had a great flavor, but $25 was way to much for such food.

As usual, Lucille's delivered. Duck is new on the menu and it was terrific. Duck Breast usually has a layer of fat between the meat and the skin and this one didn't. I don't know how the chef did it but it was great not having to excise the fat layer. My companions' lamb shank and grouper were also fist rate. And for some reason, the food at Lucille's looks more vibrant than at any other restaurant in town.

We dined at Lucille's during HRW, and were very impressed with our experience as well as the food. We decided to bring my sister for her birthday on a Sunday for brunch. We wanted the oxtail omelette, but were unable to order it. So, we ordered the fried chicken and French toast and the catfish and grits. We were disappointed in the flavor of the food. Maybe we went on the wrong day at the wrong time. We will dine there again to see if this was the reason.

Theyl wet me change my order without any change to me. My wife order the chicken and waffles, which she enjoyed and I got myself the same. We will definitely be back for a sunday brunch experience.

As always my most recent dining experience as Lucille's Houston was Outstanding! I had the Braised Lamb, and it was Amazing! He meat fell off the bone and was wonderfully tender and so flavorful. And the sauce which accompanied it was "the perfect icing on the cake". Once again, all I can say is, "Chef Christopher Williams is THE Chef among Chefs, and Houston is Blessed to have him & his restaurant here!"

Also a few local inbetweeners & other Southwesterners. Cross section of travelers, medical profeasional, artist, academician, businessmen, retirees, but Sid helped us choose GREAT food we all loved, chatted as if we were the only guests in the place, & helped take photos. Everyone agreed it couldn't have been better. We'll be back in one configuration or another. Amazing crab beignets! Tres leches out of this world, as were duck & oyster blt, &, &....

We've been to Lucille's before and had great dining experiences. Not so much this time. Most everything was under seasoned (which is hard to do when one of the entrees is the Fried Chicken). The Mac n Cheese was particularly disappointing - under salted and too much truffle oil. Hoping that this was a one-off bad night for the kitchen and not the start of a downhill slide.

The cozy atmosphere was perfect, and, though the menu is abbreviated, it was incredibly difficult to decide what to order because everything looked good. The fried oyster appetizer was delicious and should be expanded to be an entree. The entree portions were generous and both the pork chop and the shrimp and grits were the type of comfort food that would normally make one feel guilty, yet this food didn't leave either one of us with a "too heavy" feeling. We cannot wait to go back and bring friends!

While it's been on the menu for a while, I tried the shrimp and grits for the first time. The shrimp were large, firm, and flavorful. The grits had taste and were rich and creamy rather than bland as grits can be. I don't like cheese, so I was happy that they were just regular grits. The tomato-based also is just right, whereas a creamy sauce would be too much. But I really miss the oyster sliders! The service was prompt, but I wouldn't have minded it being a little more leisurely. We each just had one course, so they moved us out pretty quickly. At least we had no trouble making our show in time.

Took a client here for lunch. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. He had the schrimp and grits and I had the chicken. Fried green tomatoes and bisquets to start; very tasty. They were busy for lunch. Don;t know if this contributed to our service, but we had 3 or 4 different people taking orders, drinks, clearing, and bill paying. We had a to wait a bit for the drinks to get there. Our food was slow coming out, but correct). They would fill my water glass and not my client's ice tea glass. Then I had to get up and go to the bar to pay the bill, since no one came. This hasn't happened to me before here. There seemed to be plently of waitstaff, just not organized?? I'll be back. love this place. This other thing can be fixed.

I was anxious to try Lucille's and happened to have reservations during Restaurant Week. The special menu was great and had many offerings of items I wanted to try off the regular menu. A very good deal! Exceptional price and very generous course portions. Everyone loved their drinks and dinner. We tried the crafted cocktails (you must)...great fun. Fried Green Tomatoes, Chili Biscuits, Shrimp and Grits were huge winners. Dessert, as a smaller bite, was perfect since no one was going to go away hungry; so much better than those huge dessert concoctions you get elsewhere. Just right. The vibe and atmosphere were wonderful, super easy self-parking, lovely service, and prompt attention from the hostess too. We will be back!
