  • "Before a Saturday afternoon trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, we decided to try Lucille's because our daughter had mentioned it. Everything was impressive - the food was very good, the service outstanding, and the place is downright nice. The decor is very attractive,and the chairs were very comfortable (not to be said for some restaurants in Houston). We highly recommend it - the chili biscuits are very good, the fried green tomatoes excellent , and wine by the glass very good. We definitely intend to go for dinner and maybe even the brunch on some Sunday. Had they not been on Open Table, we probably would not have thought to go there - it serves as a reminder that you've heard about a place and need to go there - very glad we did!"

  • "We arrived at Lucille's right at 5 for an early dinner as we had Rocket tickets that night. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their entree . I had the fried chicken at it was perfect-- crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside We will definitely be back. The outside patio looks nice, we might try that next time"

  • "Lucille's definitely elevates traditional soul food to a different level. Love the twist on fried chicken, called 'yardbird' on the menu; and the chili biscuits( a family recipe) and fries green tomatoes are wonderful! We also enjoyed the warm brownie( rich, but not overly sweet) and the vanilla croissant bread pudding for dessert."

  • "I met a friend here for lunch prior to her doctor's appointment. The restaurant was a bit quiet when we arrived at 11am, but things started picking up closer to noon. The fried green tomatoes were great, but the shrimp and grits were amazing! The grits were amazingly light and creamy. The shrimp were very large and seasoned well. I asked them to add some serrano peppers in the veggies that they sauteed for the sauce...I like a little kick. They were very accomodating! My friend had the grouper, and she enjoyed every bite of it. I look forward to being in the area again for lunch :)"

  • "A group of us were visiting Houston. After enjoy our trip to the MFA, we wanted to find a nice place for an early dinner. Lucille's fit the bill. When our foursome turned out (after ordering) to be a fivesome, our server was more than gracious, moving us to a larger table and staging the meal so that our late arrival didn't feel left out. Our server then graciously offered to allow us to split up the bill at the end of the meal. Bottom line: nice room, very good food (we all ordered one of the specials on the chalkboard and loved it) and very professional and kind service. I recommend this place."

  • "My wife and I had a special date to Lucille's and ran into the best tasting Fried Chicken I have ever had. I understand that a high class place like Lucille's can just have "Fried Chicken" so it is called "Fried Yard Bird" It does not matter. It is hands down the best "Fried" anything I have ever eaten, and I am 44 years old. The chicken pot pie is also inventive and delicious with the rolls that Lucille's is famous for. Our waitress was fantastic and treated us like friends. We will be back. Thanks Lucille's"

  • "Wow what a miss. Greeted at door by a waiter.. Took our drink orders, and brought them. We were then taken care by a waitress that he was covering for as she was busy w other tables. Once we met her she just had no clue of the menu. Wasn't sure of portion sizes, didnt have an opinion other than that everything is "great". we ordered wine, and I asked for her opinion since she told me to if i had any questions. Her response to what i selected was that she heard it was good, and she had to see if it was in stock. so to save time i chose 3 wines, only 1 was in stock. How is that possible?Pretty bad,I think they have a rotating wine list which is annoying.this should be updated daily! food was bland (chicken, burger), best thing was mac/cheese."

  • "I brought 3 friends who had not been to Lucille's before--they loved it as much as I did. Watermelon feta salad is delicious, mac 'n cheese is the best (usually it gets boring before it's finished--not this one!), vegetable plate with blue cheese grits and squash was amazing. Service was great. Everything looks as good as it tastes too. One diner commented that everything was done to perfection."

  • "My daughter found Lucille's on a list of Houston's top restaurants. We're always looking for good places that we haven't tried before! It was a rainy, cold night and the restaurant was not busy at all. Hostess was very inviting, waitress was great describing foods. We started with the chili biscuits because that's what they're known for--delicious! Also had fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits and cornbread--all of it was really really good! Location was questionable, was dark, I need to go back in daytime."

  • "Upscale twists on traditional Southern cooking. From shrimp and grits to grouper on a corn-filled pancake to fried green tomatoes, Lucille's puts a classy touch on good ole recipes. You can get great collard green but also kale, scallops as well as sausage. Don't except anything with a full heart healthy sign, but the fish dishes are grilled or pan-seared on beds of greens. MMM-MMM-Good!"

  • "I had the watermelon salad and the oxtail sandwich The food was great but the serving portions I thought was a bit small for the price,two of my friends had the shrimp and grits again other than the portion size everything was excellent my last friend had a hamburger and he is was adequate but again the size and the pricing but everything was wonderful lovely I enjoy the Ambien it's the noise level was low it's a beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. I would like to go and try the their brunch. They did have sufficient wined the wine list"

  • "Would have given the service an "outstanding" also but the waiter was kind of passive-aggressive about us leaving. He should have told us that the restaurant closes between lunch and dinner instead of trying to clear our table and then telling us that he was not hinting at us leaving. Also, one of our group asked about an appetizer and whether it contained enough food to substitue for a meal. He said yes and it was not. It was obvious that none of the appetizers (we ordered a couple of them) was enough food to substitue as a meal because there was not enough food in any of them to serve as appetizers for more than three people. The food and ambience were great and the service was great other than the incidents I mentioned above."

  • "Great Spot. When we got there we were promptly seated , and the staff there was great. We even got to see the cooks through this glass window and knew that the chef was back there doing his thing. We had the snapper, which was FABULOUS, and my first taste of White Kale with the same sentiment. The Mac N Cheese needed a little something extra for me, but the Shrimp and grits I tasted from the 3rd sister in the group was awesome. Overall the place was quiet, with a great wait staff and the food was delicious. The food did take a long time to come out, but other than that we have no complaints. We will definitely visit again, next time will be for dinner"

The chili biscuits were excellent - we also had the grouper, which was very good, and the special, which was flatiron steak with broccolini and soba noodles (in honor of Chinese NY).   • "Lucille's is our go-to place before downtown events. While the entrees may sound familiar, the preparation is anything but. The pork and beans includes a braised shank, perfectly cooked and flavored, over a mix of beans much more sophisticated than the name might suggest. Similarly, the chicken pot pie is not graced with the traditional crust, but with delicate baby vegetables and the signature hot rolls in a tiny version."
