Diner Reviews
  • "We took my husband to Lucia's to celebrate Father's Day. It was our first time there (it had been on our bucket list for a while) and we are already planning to go back. The food was very good, the waiter was attentive and the prices were reasonable. The main dining room is rather formal and very nice and there is also a less-formal dining / bar area that we will check out on our next visit."

  • "I loved Lucia when I lived around the corner from the N. End location. I am so happy to have found the Winchester location as I have more choices. Food, wine and service are always fantastic. I will be back soon."

  • "I love Lucias restaurant both here in Winchester and in Boston's North End. The food is great and I am a frequent diner."

  • "All four of us enjoyed our meals, healthy sized portions, I enjoyed my dish, Spezzatino, a nice mixture of veal and chicken and penne, The Papperdelle was also quite good; the Bruschette was below par- you really need seasonal tomatoes to make this real good"

  • "Would highly recommend the egg plant parmesan and Nonna's lasagna. Though they sound like run of the mill entrees, my companion and I agree that they were the best we'd ever tasted--so much so that we ordered the same thing the next time we dined at Lucia's."

  • "We were a party of 4 on a Friday evening. If you want quiet, ask for back room not the bar area. They had a live two piece music per customer request playing quiet music. It was very pleasing. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. We will be back. It was great to know that and old friend was still top notch."

  • "We had a reservation, arrived at the restaurant and my teenage daughter and I were seated promptly. We walked past numerous "open' tables, only to be sat on the corner of two aisles, and right next to the evenings musical entertainment. Gone was any chance of quiet conversation or privacy. Our meal ranged from excellent to average. The caeser salad was truly wonderful, and the bread was warm, crusty and perfect. Our entrees were a bit bland, and disappointing. The table did have condiments but I expected more from a dish with veal, chicken and a buttery wine sauce. Dessert redeemed the meal. The molten chocolate lava cake was awesome, and the panne cotta better than average and wonderfully cold. Entrees were not worth a return trip."

  • "Extremely disappointed by the whole experience. The food was I felt average Italian no complaints. However from the moment I stepped in the lack of being paid attention too was some of the worst I've ever had, and the service was even worse. Took 10 minutes of standing in front before anyone acknowledged me. The music was too loud, but doesn't warrant a lower review, the appalling service though does. I interacted with my server ONCE until he dropped the check, I did see him 10 feet away all night leaning on the wall. Food came from someone else but was practically just thrown on the table. I work in a highend restaurant and this place lacked service basics. Don't waste your money here. I don't expect perfection, but Applebee's is better."

  • "I haven't been to Lucia's in a few years and I forgot how delicious the food was. I love everything about this restaurant, the food, the atmosphere, the live music was amazing. They have a fantastic selection of food with fresh ingredients. If you like beets try the beet salad, my favorite!! What a great way to spend Valentine's Day with my hubby!!"

  • "Another valentines day at Lucia's and it was delicious. It is a tradition between my wife and I. We've been coming to Lucia's on valentines day for 2 years and they don't disappoint. Good food, good environment and good service. We will continue to go year after year."

  • "The food was incredible! I would recommend to anyone!"

  • "We selected Lucia for its very good food and for the live music in the room where we were seated. Our expectations were well rewarded. Diner was excellent; food was served very promptly. In fact, it was obvious that on the special occasion, fast turn around was a primary objective of the management. The only negative result was pasta fagiola that could have been warmer. Otherwise, it was delicious. Our coats were checked by the hostess. Italian favorites were sung, many by request. The rushed service also resulted in the failure to receive my credit card receipt, which was taken from the table when I visited the restroom."

  • "Wonderful homemade pasta was the key to a great dinner! nice presentation, excellent service."

  • "It was a weeknight and we were glad to have a reservation as there was a play going on that night nearby and the restaurant became very busy. As such, we felt a bit rushed with the service, even though we were not needing to leave for th show. The food was excellent. We shared desserts. The tiramisu was dissapointing but the canoli, we all agreed, was the best we ever had."

  • "The restaurant recognized my request through Open Table for a relatively quiet table. However, this seemed to affect the service. Once the food was served, no one came by to see how we were doing until we were all done eating. Fortunately, there were no problems."

  • "Another great experience at Lucia's in Winchester. We were there for dinner early on Saturday night, before going into town for a show. It was moderately busy at that time but the service and quality of the meal was just as good as every other time we eat there, weather busy, slow or otherwise. The service is friendly and extremely helpful. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is comfortable. I highly recommend Lucia."

  • "Food was good. Service was odd. The restaurant was not busy at all yet they really were rushing us. Before we all had our coats off the waiter came over to tell us the specials and take drink orders. 2 seconds later he was back. After getting our food (after sending the waiter away at least 5 times) they were then trying to clean the table before we were done. Will not go back the food was not good enough for that kind of treatment."

  • "Very nice dinner here recently. Since being renovated and menu refreshed, this has become a really nice spot for dinner with friends or family. Four of us each had a different entree and all we're thoroughly enjoyed. Kim as hostess was delightful. Highly recommended."

  • "We had a 7:30pm reservation on New Years Eve at Lucia in Winchester. Our tabel was ready for us when we arrived. It was busy but our waitress, Kim, did an outstanding job. She was approriately attentive, extremely friendly, and very helpful answering our questions and providing recommendations. This is not our first time dining here and, as always, the food was outstanding. Lucia Ristorante never fails to deliver with friendly service, a comfortable atmosphere, and a fantastic dinner."

  • "My girlfriend and I go here every year on Christmas Eve. We really love the food. My only complaint was our server did not give us our check. We had to find someone to get it. Other than that... Fantastic"

  • "over priced. bad waitress. entertainment too loud,"

  • "Standard Italian menu and food. Decent but unexceptional. Would possibly return if in the area but not otherwise."

  • "Food & Pizza is always good. I wish they would add a kids menu. It is a place you would take your family, but a bit pricey for kids."
    Dined on 11/29/2013
  • "This place is a dive to describe it best! The food was terrible and the service was the worst I have seen it. The only good help seems to be the bus guy. The arrogant waiter was terrible and the hostess was never were she should have been. The food and decor looks like it should be on Kitchen Nightmares! Hurry up and close the place for good! We need a good restaurant."

  • "Blah. I had Guazzetto, which turned out to be a small pile of overcooked linguini, with a small amount of tasteless watery tomato sauce and tasteless seafood. My associate had an equally tasteless Chicken Marsala. How an Italian restaurant can mess up pasta is beyond me. Full disclosure: I have eaten here only once and cannot say everything on the menu is blah, but try other dishes at your own risk. Not a restaurant I will give a second chance, not even for free."

  • "Perhaps the best classic bruschetta out there. Very good house salad and chicken parmigiana as well. Nice atmosphere in a quaint downtown. Very good service that went slightly downhill toward the end of the night, but still very good. Enjoyable experience, looking forward to going back."

  • "The live music and the service were great. The food was good but not exceptional, except for the cannoli which were great!"

  • "Everything we ordered was terrific - salad with tomato and mozzarella and our main dishes. Pasta was handmade with light sauce and lasagna was tasty and too heavy. Great food! Service was nice but a little slow."

  • "We had a great dinner - my husband had the veal and I had the clams. The pasta was fantastic. We will be back again."

  • "Standard Italian-American menu, bland food, empty walls & loud accordian player was not worth $100 meal for two people. I don't think I'd go back for half the price."

  • "Great food, great waitress, vibrant restaurant. Missed the guy playing accordion Friday night. Will go back."

  • "The service was great and it was nice and quiet, however the food could have been better. The appetizers were good but the veal ordered was a little tough and the muscles didn't taste very fresh. Because it was so wonderfully quiet we'll probably try it again and try to find some dishes that are good and consistent."

  • "This dinner was a birthday "party" and we were treated very well. The servers were very polite and were prompt to fill water glasses, etc. One of our party needed gluten free items and that was ntr problem. Very nice decor as well. Food was delicious. A bit expensive but for a special occasion, certainly worth the trip from the northshore to Winchester. Parking was a little bit of a challenge, on street ONLY."

  • "There were several menu choices and everything was "proprio Italiano." We didn't fee rushed and could enjoy our conversation too."
    Dined on 7/6/2013
  • "The noise level was way too high to be able to enjoy the meal. Had to virtually fight our way out since getting to the door from the dining area requires weaving your way through a loud and crowded bar area. If I owned the restaurant I would do something to correct that. Although we love the food, I'm not sure that we will return due to the noise level and the location of the dining room relative to the bar."

  • "My wife & I went to Lucia's to celebrate her birthday. A wonderful experience! The food was very good; the portion sizes just right. We just returned from a trip to Italy; the food at Lucia's did not disappoint by comparison. The calamari appetizer was delicious; cooked to perfection. Similarly for the veal dish I had. My wife tells me her Lucia's chicken was good although not outstanding. The service was attentive. There was music the night we were there - accordion & vocalist; it was enjoyable & fit the mood of the place perfectly. The hostess provided us a delicious small chocolate cake (with candle); the musicians & entire dining room sang Happy B'day! That's the kind of welcoming place Lucia's is. We will certainly will return."
