A word from Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
Founded in 2006, Luce is a local favorite featuring many traditional dishes. Flavors which often bring our guests back to their best memories of Italian specialties.

My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.

Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.

Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.

House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food.The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.

  • "We wanted to introduce our out of town guests to the delectable food that we always enjoy at Luce. We each had different entrees: the Ravioli di Aragosta, lobster filled ravioli with a tomato basil cream sauce: the Braciola alla Napoletana, thin cut beef, rolled and filled with parsley, pine nuts, raisins, parmigiano, and toasted garlic; Eddie’s Delmonico, grilled rib-eye steak; and the special that evening, grilled halibut, served with risoto and vegetables. Each dish was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed these entrees so much that we literally cleaned our plates. The service at Luce is always first-class. The server was courteous, prompt, and anticipated our needs. Luce remains our favorite restaurant."

Weather permitting the patio is awesome, and the restaurant itself is also very nice. I would definitely recommend Luce."

  • "We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The water was nice. The food however was not up to par. It was cold. The flavor was ok but not the best. We spent around 100 for the evening and it was not worth it. If you want to eat at a nice restaurant go somewhere else."

  • "Ambiance is very good on the huge patio. Speed of service is good. The wine list is large but a bit overpriced. Food: not so great. My Linguine Mare Chiaro was very good and the red sauce had a nice spice to it. Everything else was just average. My wife wanted Spaghetti Carbonara and asked the waiter if they could make it since it was not on the menu. He had never heard of it and asked if there was something else she would prefer. Not a good start to her meal, but she then ordered a medium done ribeye. Should have had a thin strip of pink in the middle. What she got was well done steak with no hint of pink. The waiter was very courteous and quickly returned the steak to get a properly cooked one."

  • "The restaurant was simply not prepared to handle the customers, even though most had reservations. We waited close to an hour between the time we got our salad and our main entree. It was sheer chaos, some groups and couples near us left. They were woefully short of cooks and waitstaff. The scallops entree was very skimpy,they probably did not prepare for that either. All things considered, we would not go there again,particularly on a special day. Y"

  • "I decided Luce would be a great place for a special dinner with my husband. The young hostess wanted to seat us outside, we told her we preferred inside. It seemed to "miff" her a bit, so she sat us at a row of tables that had bench seats in the back. The tables were so close, my husband could not walk between them, so I did. We were served water. We sat almost twenty minutes before a waitress came by to see if we had been waited on. She apologized, & said she would get our waitress. The restaurant was almost empty at that time. We had to wait for our wine & had to finally ask for our check at the end. It was as if we were invisible. We will go back, the food can't be beat, but was disappointed with the service."

  • "We celebrated Valentine's Day at Luce. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the pan-seared scallops and were pleased with the taste and texture, cooked just right. Our waiter, Jorge did an excellent job of making recommendations, timing our courses, and wine selection. We always enjoy dining at Luce."

  • "This was my first time at Luce. Being valentine night, i know the restaurant would be busy so I made my reservation way in advance and even called the restaurant to confirm. I was a little surprised that we were seated closed to the entrance, table 19, I believe? however, it was in a corner, which was great. we ordered from the valentine special menu. Our waiter was good, he brought our drinks out right away but our caprese salads took a while. This rest of the food came out in a timely manner. The food was very good. The steak was cooked perfect ( meduim rare) and the scallops were great. The dessert was good, just not for me. overall this does seem like a restaurant i will return to."

  • "Showed up for valentine day.Bus boy tossed a plate of butter on top of the table, which made a loud sound. My wife and I stared at each other for 15 minutes. The waiter never came. Staff seemed annoyed that we were there.We left and were told to have a nice night as we left by the same lady who sat us 15 min earlier."

Interesting and delicious entrees, always perfectly prepared, attentive service without being annoying, a wide selection of appetizers that can also serve as a meal or be shared, Their wine list covers all price ranges and tastes. If you want a fabulous authentic Italian meal in a lovely setting, try Luce. We'll probably see you there."

  • "The special New Year's Eve choice of Surf and Turf was exquisite! The lobster tail was the most tender of any I have eaten in San Antonio, plus the steak was cooked perfectly and so tender. The tiramisu is made fresh daily at the restaurant, and once again is the best I have ever had in San Antonio. I went early for dinner before the craziness started, and the noise level was low with fantastic service. All in all, 6 stars if I could give them!"

  • "My wife and I ate at Luce a few months ago and we thought we found a real hidden gem. My sausage was actually raw in the middle, but the taste of the food was so good that we assumed it was an anomaly. We liked the food well enough that my wife booked my surprise birthday party there and we had 30 people booked for dinner. It took over 2 hrs to get our meal, and some of us never got served food and just walked out after 2 1/2 hours. At no point did a manager stop by any of our. It was easily some of the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. The food is actually delicious, but after uncooked sausage and the embarrassment of bringing 30 people to get the worst service possible, we won't be going back."

  • "This was our first time dining at Luce's, we were excited as this was our anniversary everything was fine until the waiter showed up. When asked for recommendations he actually paused and looked at my wife like she was from another planet, then he actually only commented get this "our meatballs are good, the speghetti is good too", we exchanged looks with eachother and smiled so he could leave. It kind of spoiled things for our anniversary... :-( Once we got past the waiter, the food was good, not great. We may try it again we are still on the fence. Met some friends for brunch Sunday and asked them if they had gone, and they enjoyed themselves, so maybe it was just our waiter, other than that it was good I guess...."

  • "Thanksgiving was the wrong time to try for a first time. We were on time for our reservation and there were open tables all around. The hostess placed us right next to an open booth in the BAR area with 4 very talkative diners . Needless to say, as more diners and bar patrons came in, the commotion and noise increased. The soup was warm, not hot, but the entree was good. We will try again with hopes of a better experience."

  • "I have visited Luce's many times for lunch and happy hour and have always enjoyed the food. The staff go out of their way to make the visit as pleasing as possible. The patio is lovely, the bar is cosy, and the main dining room is very pleasant and they also have a private room for large parties. This Thanksgiving I ate here with a group of friends and was expecting to be rushed in and out as it was a holiday but instead we were treated to a relaxed and highly enjoyable dining experience. You will not be disappointed at Luce's, at least they will try very hard to ensure that you are happy with your meal."

  • "For the most part, the food was fabulous. Our appetizer was a shrimp dish with a fabulous lemon sauce. It was great. My first bite of Caesar salad tasted like lettuce. So did my second. It was though they forgot to put any dressing on it. So I asked for more dressing and got it. However, the dressing was so bland that it still didn't do much for the taste. The bread basket that was served looked delicious. However, the bread wasn't baked all the way through. The middle of the bread was almost pure dough. I ordered the veal piccata and it was among the best I've ever had. Once again, the sauce was fabulous. My wife ordered the special - a halibut dish. She loved it. The cappucino wasn't that good and was barely warm, not hot."
