A word from Luce Ristorante E Enoteca
Founded in 2006, Luce is a local favorite featuring many traditional dishes. Flavors which often bring our guests back to their best memories of Italian specialties.

My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.

Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.

Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.

House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food. The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.

I took a friend there for dinner. The bread was really good! Moscato was delicious! My lobster ravioli was so delicious that I used the bread to dip the sauce to clean the plate! My friend ordered the masala, the veal did not have much flavor to it, unfortunately. The risotto was slightly undercooked which I remembered somewhere that this was supposed to be the correct way of cooking it in the true Italian cuisine. The spinach side was good. The service was OK, we ended up asking another wait staff to get us more bread since our waiter was no where to be found. Would go back and try other dishes such as the scallop or the duck some time.

I enjoy going there because the food and the people are fresh and open. The owner Joe B is usually in the house and working the kichen and the front of the house. Although this is not a "chef" dining kind of place, the food is good and service is strong. Our only mild complaint was the Ricotta Cheesecake was just a bit on the dry side. It needed more cream. Otherwise I recommend it as one of few non chain restaurants on San Antonio's NW side (I-10 and Huebner)

The Service: Once the waiter found out we did not drink wine, the service went from decent to bad. While looking around the restaurant, we noticed he was very attenttive to only the tables with bottles of wine. Our server, when it came to our table, was slow, did not get our order correct and stood behind my wife while she was signing the receipt. The Food: The food was either way over or way under seasoned. The risotto had the consistency of mashed potatoes and tasteless. The calamari was very greasy and tastless. There are much better alternatives in the area for the same price. The only positive, was the young lady that greeted us was nice.

This restaurant was wonderful. They were very patient - we had members of the group show up over an hour late and more than we intended. We never felt rushed and had a great evening. The food was fantastic and a nice variation from common Italian without being too "different". I think this restaurant is great and will return the next time I am in San Antonio.

On Saturday night my wife and I dined here, the menus was Varied and we were looking forward to our meal, the waiter was friendly and attentive, the bread and three different butters were delicious, my wife ordered the calamari, which we shared after the waiter informed us it was a large portion ,it was lightly battered and the accompanying tomato sauce and sour cream were nice, good start !. My wife ordered the salmon, and I ordered the meatball and sausage with pasta , firstly , the salmon was overcooked, and tasteless, my meatball and sausage was ok, but nothing to rave about , and the pasta too was overcooked and rubbery, not inedible , but certainly nothing specials lol in all pretty average .

The food was very good, but the server was inexperienced. There was no salt or pepper on our table and we had ask for the salt which was immediately taken away. Also, the server struggled to open a bottle of wine. He let me smell and taste the wine which was good, but then he asked my wife if she wanted to smell the wine after poring me a glass already. That is not the way to present wine. At any rate, the food was very good and the pricing was reasonable. We would go back but I suggest the management spend time with their waiters and teach them the proper method of serving a table.

Service was great (but a very slow day for the restaurant;first day that lunch service resumed after the summer break). The complimentary bread was delicious as always (served warm with the unique butter trio). The caesar salad featured beautiful, fresh, crisp greens but they lacked sufficient dressing and the bread crumbs were "meh".I ordered the scallops; fourth time that I have opted for this entree....twice they were fork-tender perfect but this was the second occasion when they were over cooked and rubbery. The accompanying spinach and stuffed artichoke heart were full of evoo/garlicky goodness (but might be a bit much for any anti-garlic diners)I received the lemon sauce "on the side" as requested. Good value for a tasty lunch.

This place was pricey yet almost everything was underseasoned. And it's one of those pretentious places that doesn't have salt on the table. The waitress was quite abrupt and couldn't answer any questions about the wine. The decor was straight out of the 90s. Avoid.

The Red Sauce that accompanied the Calamari had no flavor, the butters that came with bread were all terrible. Finally? The Creme Brûlée had very little hard shell on top!?(the dark brown candied shell?) it had very little, mainly just Creme.

We had the steak from cattle whose breed comes from Japan. The meal was great and so was the wine which comes from our private stash kept at the restaurant. I hope they keep the steak on the menu because it was better than anything we can get at specialty steak houses.

We have dined at Luce several times in the last few months and have come to the conclusion that this is one of San Antonio's true restaurant gems. Every meal has been a culinary experience, and the staff has been very attentive. We have always dined on the patio, and even in the middle of summer, it has been pleasant. We plan on continuing to make Luce one of our regular restaurant destinations.

We received the weekly email from Luce listing a Swordfish special, and since our previous experiences had been very good, we decided to try it out. As before, the dish was excellently prepared and well presented. Our server was professional and attentive (although he wasn't very talkative), and even though it was July, it was pleasant sitting out on the patio. We are foodies, and this restaurant ranks up there with the best in San Antonio.

My Wife thoroughly enjoyed her veal Piccata with roasted fresh asparagus, spinach, zucchini, and yellow squash. The veal came lightly battered with crushed garlic and capers in a lemon brown butter sauce. My Scarpariello was amazing. they use real Italian sausage imported from NYC. The real McCoy! The sauteed chicken breast is tender and juicy and it's all surrounded by red, green and gold bell peppers, onions, garlic, white wine sauce, and mushroom Risotto. They have some interesting pizza selections and Happy Hour prices from 4 to 7 PM Monday to Friday.
