Lucca Back BayAs billed a good experienceAs noted (by others) a very nice space with a pleasant and accommodating wait staff. The food was interesting in composition and description. Portions are smallish but interiesting. Some dishes such as gnocchi were a bit bland but otherwise OK. When our wine selection was not available, we were offered a better wine at the same price as the bottle originally requested. The appetizers and entrees were outstanding. Dessert was also delicious.
We were going to the Symphony and had valeted our car when we arrived for our 5:30 reservation. We mentioned the symphony. When we returned to retrieve our car at 10:30, it was parked right at the front door waiting for us. It's not so good that I would go there otherwise, but it is good enough to enjoy once one is there. All of our entrees were wonderful (scallops, gnocchi with rabbit, duck and paparadelle pasta). We shared 2 desserts, pane cotta and flourless chocolate cake. We would recommend both. Very nice atmosphere. However, we were seated almost immediately and drink orders were taken, no menus provided.
We were fine with waiting and eventually received menus and orders taken. There was a woman from reception who at one point came by to ask how things were and I mentioned that the waiter was very late delivering one of our appetizers. We are always greeted warmly and the servers are friendly and helpful. The menu is interesting and varied and my favorite is the scallop dish...the best I have ever had.
