We had no expectations considering its located in a very unconvincing strip mall. However, our friends had a very high opinion of this restaurant. We consider ourselves somewhat of foodies so when i hear these things I just kind of ignore it, Id rather make an opinion for myself. I'm not going to go in great detail, but WOW. The food amazing, the service was fast our server Jason was very attentive and was willing to accommodate our needs, my wife is a vegetarian. To top off the night we had a delicious bottle of petit verdot and an indulging homemade Easter pie. All in all an incredible night out with friends, maybe I will listen to them next time, we will dine again.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Find in FlemingtonWe were in a new area passing by and selected Luca's on Open Table. What a treat! The restaurant was lovely inside (in a shopping strip mall), with hanging plants, stone floors, wood tables...nice ambiance. The service was excellent and very attentive...and the pasta was homemade and delicious. They serve wine by the bottle or half bottle. I am sure this is a busy place for the neigborhood people. We were there at an odd time..about 4pm, but we were impressed by the good food and service. Everything is exceptional right down to the beautiful decor. The food is very good and the menu is unique with homemade pasta and usually a good offering of daily specials. Calamari is not to be missed, crisp and freshly made and the pear/gorgonzola salad is always delicious.
On Saturday night I had a terrific Osso Buco with risotto- tender and full flavored. My wife enjoyed a risotto with chicken and green and white asparagus, which she devoured.
Luca's staff is made up of local high school or college students, many that we personally know- so don't be upset if you have to ask for something because they are not highly experienced, formally trained waiters.
