A word from Luca's Ristorante of Somerset
If you are seeking not just a great meal, but a great dining experience, you need look no further than Luca’s Ristorante Somerset. Tucked away on Rt. 27 between Princeton and New Brunswick, Luca’s Somerset is an oasis of authentic regional Italian cuisine. Offering modern adaptations of traditional dishes from Ischia, here you can enjoy hand-cut ravioli stuffed with Chef Andrea’s latest mouth-watering combinations, a selection of fish entrees so fresh that they evoke the Mediterranean Sea, or a filet of such quality that it is paralleled only by the accoutrement that accompany it. Our dining room décor is uniquely Ischitana, and goes to show that here at Luca’s Somerset, we understand that the difference is in the details. • "I had heard Luca's was a little gem by locals but my penne was sitting in a quarter inch of oil, which was not very appetizing. The Neopolitan meatballs, however, -- a recipe of the chef's southern Italian mother, I was told -- were fantastic!"

  • "Visited Luca's for the second time and was not disappointed. Service is wonderful, food is wonderfully tasteful. I love that they don't rush you between courses so you can enjoy your food at your own pace. Can't wait to go back again and again."

  • "Came across this little gem on Open Table. The food was fantastic, fresh and authentic. the service was a little slow but not too much to keep us away. We will definitely return!"

  • "Very pleased with my first visit to Luca's. The menu was varied and inviting, but we choose to go with all the specials they offered that night and we couldn't be any happier. Our server was friendly and up beat and even though there was a large party that night, our service was not delayed. It is a BYOB, which is always a plus in my option."

  • "I have been to Luca's several times, this time with a group of seven for lunch. Everyone enjoyed their food, there were no complaints. Luca's has wine from one vineyard, but you can bring your own, which we did. They do not rush you out and the wait staff is excellent, giving you information about the dishes and the restaurant itself. When you are sitting there, you feel like you are in Italy. All in all a wonderful experience"

  • "Based on the ratings we saw in Trip Advisor, we decided to give this a try. The outside is deceiving, so don't pay too much attention to where it is. The inside is charming and smell like Italian heaven! We had several small items and a bowl of crab and corn chowder. The soup was outstanding! The mussels were very good. The figs wrapped with prosciutto had a balsalmic reduction drizzle that was great.............get the idea. We really liked this place!!"

  • "Went here Saturday. Our waiter was horrible. He rarely came to our table, and he messed up every single order. I ordered a coke, and I had to remind him AFTER the food came that I still wanted a coke. Also ordered a Luca pizza without mushroom, and it came with mushrooms. Took our cutlery and didn't give us new for the entree, had to wait 10 minutes with the food on the table for cutlery."

  • "My wife and I used to frequent Lucas when we lived in area, however when available we seize the chance to return. We were not disappointed. No new or obvious changes to the decor but quality of food and service remain the same. Wine list now available. I I would recommend Luca's to all who appreciate fine dining!"

  • "i just love when i find a little restaurant that wows me. this was it. tucked away in a strip mall, this little place far away from nyc, lived up to the standards of a top NY italian restaurant. I was impressed. I will travel back just for the corn and crab soup with its generous chunks of lump meat. it was rich, full of distinct crab and corn flavor. Yum!!!"

  • "friends recommended Lucas to us and now we recommend it to you. Tucked away in a small strip mall you'll never see it unless you look hard, and that is too bad. It's worth finding. Lucas is not you're typical Italian eatery. Mango, marscapone, and prosciutto for and appetizer? Sure, and it was delicious. They take the traditional and add a twist making it interesting and fun. Lucas is small, so reservations are highly recommended, especially on typically busy eat out days. Prices are reasonable, dinner for two with appy and desert for a little over $100. We'll be back and we'll bring friends."

  • "Dining at Luca's was a pleasurable experience. The food was excellent with large portions. Given the lack of decent restaurants in its area, it is definitely return when I am in North Brunswick"

  • "2nd time here and it's awesome. Everything is fresh, well presented and the atmosphere is soooo cute. I love it here. Took my husband and he was very pleased with everything. I don't rate food just based on volume like many do (Oh.... went there and we got mountains of food.... that's not us). For me it's about quality and taste. Amounts were perfect (happened to be a bit large actually). Excellent quality and absolutely delicious, very romantic and very nice atmosphere. Waiter was so sweet and attentive - he was awesome, actually.. You have got to try this place."

  • "We shared the mussels marina to start and they were excellent. We then had the pasta and fish specials for dinner. The pasta special was a trio of pasta, each one stuffed with a different filling (Filet mignon, Lamb and veal) it was served with a mushroom sauce. I had a black sea bass over spinach with shrimp in a white wine sauce. Both dishes were outstanding."

  • "our first visit..how could we live here for 40 years and not have heard of luca's?! the butter is even worthy of note-mixed with roasted garlic and perhaps dried fruit! we had 2 starters, the burata and a special mushroom mixture on focaccia bread. dinners were lasagna and the "rags of pasta". the portions were very large. they sell wine by the bottle from Hopewell valley vineyard through a "vineyard license" but you are allowed to bring your own. excellent experience!!!"

  • "Lucas is always a great dinner! It is still a BYO, but they do offer NJ wine by the bottle. The cocoa butternut squash is not to be missed!"

  • "Third visit, parties of four each time, and each time each person was delighted with their meal. The food is OUTSTANDING! The service has always been spot on, the only reason for loss of a star in the rating is the closeness of the tables, you have to make friends with the people behind you because you have to ask them to move if you need to get up."

  • "Nestled in a non-descript strip mall on Route 27 5 miles south of New Brunswick's Theater District, Luca's is well worth a detour for its outstanding Ischian cuisine. Great food, attentive service, unique ambience and a BYO to boot. Dinner for four including tax and a 20% tip came to $180."

  • "This was my first time here, I live pretty close but never made it over. With Family in town I decided to bring the Family to Dine here. The food was very good. The ambiance was very romantic, You definitely feel like you have left Somerset. The food was delicious. We did not have dessert so I can not say anything to that."

  • "The food was very good. The bread was very good, and creative. The service was very good. The ambiance is nice. All of our meals were delicious. We had the Salmon, Tilapia, Seafood Assortment and Pasta. I'm surprised I've never heard of this place before."

  • "went for lunch with a group of 6. Everyone enjoyed their food. Large portions (I had the Osso Bucco appy and it was large enough for a main course in most restaurants). Everything was fresh and the waitstaff was friendly and helpful. We eat in New York on a regular basis and I would say the food was as good as any NYC restaurant."

  • "Food at Luca's is always adventurous and delicious. Love the specials, always order one of them! Homemade pastas are amazing. Fascinating blends of ingredients, lots of farm-to-table, local products. Ambiance always wonderful - feel we are dining in an Italian vineyard. Staff most accommodating and professional."

  • "Overall, it was good. Peeves that upset the apple-cart. Service was horrendous. 2 1/2 hours, 8:30- 11PM...on a Saturday night. But, they were busy. The food is on the heavier side and not exactly health-conscious. Lots of butter used. Had to spend days making up for it with a whole-lot of veggies."

  • "loved this place. from the moment you walk in you feel welcome until the time you leave. our waiter was very attentive but not over bearing. we were never rushed. I had the lasagna and you could tell it was made to order. Portions were generous, can't wait to eat the leftovers. it was a bit of a hike for us to get there but so worth it, can't wait to go back again. If you love creme brulee i recommend it. It was light and yes you can eat the whole thing."

  • "We were a little leary when we first drove up to the restuarant as it was in a small strip mall, but we were delighted once we entered. The decor was very nice and the food was excellent. They even allowed you to bring your own wine, and if you didn't there was a small liquor store at the end of the mall (3 doors down). I would highly recommend this restuarant for a nice Italian meal."

  • "Decided to bring my son who is a real foodie. We were not disappointed! Appetizers were delicious and interesting such as the marscapone and fig wrapped in prosciutto. lovely Everyone enjoyed their main course and had more than enough so leftovers were enjoyed the next day. Especially love that we can bring our favorite wine to enjoy with our dinner. My only regret is that Luca's is a 40 minute drive from home. Looking forward to our next visit."
