Diner Reviews
  • "Will never go back. Tried it 2x and both were terrible. Fish was old and dry... Mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. Long waits and there were only 3 tables seated."

  • "The restaurant was completely empty on Father's Day and no wonder. The food was so bland. The pesto, the Caesar salad, the risotto. All BLAND. The only redeeming quality of our meal was the fantastic bottle of wine."

  • "Excellent food and Alexandra gave superior service! Charming place for dining!"

  • "The quality of the dining experience here has never let me down. Whether dining with a large group from the office or eating at the bar with Ivan serving something from their great selection of wines, it is always consistently superb. I tried the shrimp appetizer and the the shrimp risotto last night and both were unique and wonderful. Ivan suggested the Sienna red wine which was perfect. Having been there 4 or 5 times, I already feel like a "usual". Everyone is so welcoming and kind. Can't wait for the next time!"

  • "If you tried this place in the past, and said "not again", give it another try. New chef and great, attentive service. Still pricy, but for special occasions, nice place. We will go back!"

  • "Good food in a great setting. Italian food overlooking the Woodlands canal. Outside sitting just great"
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "Food was good, but way over priced. Service was good. Maybe the price was high due to Mother's Day, but even so bring your big boy pants to pay the bill"

  • "We came here for Mothers Day and it was just wonderful. Plenty of food. It was delicious and perfect. Will definitely go back. "

  • "Hostesses were completely incompetent….all 4 of them. We were seated at a table with some sort of gravy spilled all over a chair. The hostess saw the spill, just stood holding the menus and while we cleaneed the chair. She said/did nothing…It is worth mentioning I am 7 month pregnant. After that welcome, service was terrible, food was terrible. Beware the recommendation to order the $32 osso buco…which seemed to be what every waiter was pushing. It was not good. Bland and unseasoned. The fettuccine alfredo was made with undercooked fettuccine in a thin watery sauce…also not good to taste. Waited 20 minutes or more each time for water refills or to see the waiter. Other then the pretty view, we would not recommend this restaurant. "

  • "First time visit to Luca & Leonardo's and definitely will return. Had a rare "date night" with my wife and would rate the overall experience as Exceptional. The food was perfectly prepared and the service was outstanding! While a bit on the pricy side, it is well worth making the reservation for any occasional - special or not. "

  • "Server was outstanding--attentive but not annoying. Patio was lovely, perfect for lunch-time conversation. Music was a little loud. "

  • "This was our second time to dine here. The interior is very nice and our waiter was great. However, the food needs some attention. We found the food to be very bland with need of seasoning and flavor. Beef was tasteless. I hope they revamp the approach in the kitchen because the place has some big potential. Great location on the waterway and good service. With great food it could be a favorite place."

  • "Cannot believe that smoking is permitted still - what a shame!"

  • "We were one of 3 tables at lunch which should have been the first clue. Service was horrible. Extremely slow. Waiter brought the bill then never came back to pick up the credit card causing me to have to get up and go to the bar to settle my tab. Unfortunate given the location as this should be a prime lunch spot. I will not return...too many other options in the area. "

  • "What is it about the waterway dining? Is rent so high - they cut corners w/ the food? Is the view so amazing, they get away with mediocrity? If you look at my last review for this same restaurant, you will see L & L scored high with me. But just like the sister restaurant below, they quickly dropped in quality and cooking. Our food was - at best - TERRIBLE. The steak was a bad cut of meat plus cooked 2 levels more than our request. When I called the waiter's attention to it - he said - I'm so sorry. That's it. I'm so sorry. Well - so were we. We will never go back. We will never recommend it. We will never consider either restaurant owned by this company - even though they have prime waterway space. Nope. Won't do it."

  • "We enjoyed a quiet evening at Luca and Leonardo celebrating my parents' anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. It is great to be able to get a reservation on a Friday night in the busy part of the Woodlands, so we did not have to wait at all for our table. Great evening."

  • "The food was subpar, which is too bad because it is so expensive, and the ambiance seems very nice and romantic. I don't have much experience in cooking Italian food, but I know, for a fact, that I can make a better tasting Alfredo sauce than their's. If I am the one paying for it...or if I have a choice, I'd rather go to a different Italian restaurant in the area."

  • "My husband and I recently ate at Luca and Leonardo's in The Woodlands and had a wonderful meal. The food was great and the service even better! Our waiter went out of his way to make everything perfect for us. We had a lovely view of the fountains from outside on the porch. I would highly recommend this restaurant for good Italian food and reasonable prices."

  • "This was a nice alternative to eating at the downstairs Mexican whatever it is supposed to be. Same owner I think - but completely different concept and menu. MUCH better. We enjoyed this before some of the July activities. We will be back!"

  • "It was middle of the road in terms of food quality, didn't have any preconceived expectation so really wasn't disappoint nor blown away. Just ok."

  • "very poor quality food and slow service for only two other tables with people in the restaurant"
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "After 4 visits of great sucess, we chose this restaurant to celebrate my wife's 65th birthday (just the 2 of us). his time we did not fair so well. My food was good, but my wife's risotto was overcooked and mushy, while her Sabajone was runny and lumpy. We also had to wait for the waiter to show up, but when he did, he was very friendly and accommodating."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "Went here for dinner and we had a reservation, the hostess wasn't at the stand when we showed up and then she was so rude when she returned 5 minutes later and we asked when we would be seated for our 7:15 reservation (at 7:20) she told us it would be 15 minutes and didn't ask for our names. 20 minutes later she didn't say anything else, apologize, or ask for our names, and displayed a general arrogance about herself. We ended up leaving without eating. I had to rate the food in order to submit, but I don't know if this is accurate because we couldn't even sit down."

  • "Great food, wonderful ambiance and a lively, buzzing crowd. Unfortunately the appalling service ruined our dining experience. We arrived 10 minutes early for a 7:30 reservation and were seated at 8:45 pm. Once seated, it took an additional 20 minutes for someone to take our wine order. Bread, wine and main course arrived together. Having to endure the long wait surrounded by other equally frustrated patrons and the poor service at the table destroyed our dining experience. The General Manager of the restaurant failed miserably in my estimation. It's a shame because if this place is better managed it could gain a lot more business. Right now it is a miserable fail."

  • "I don't know what the food was like because we never got in. We had an 8:00 PM reservation, and showed up right at 8:00 PM and the girl at the front didn't even take our name. She told us they were two hours behind on reservations. No one knew what was going on around there. People were hanging out everywhere waiting for tables. A man came up the the hostess table and asked if she had an estimate on when he would be seated for his 07:00 reservation. She could not give him a clear answer. This was suppose to be our Valentine's Dinner. We left after witnessing such chaos, and went to a Japanese Sushi Bar down the street."

  • "There is no place to wait while waiting for a reserved table. The entrance is small and cramped and really unwelcoming. We did get seated timely, but were ignored for over 20 minutes until a waiter explained he didn't know we were in his section. We were seated on the patio and it was cold. The heaters were insufficient. Just a really unpleasant experience. Food was ok .. But we would never return because there are too many other good places to go."

  • "We had family visiting & we decided on this location for dinner. Excellent food, service & ambience!"
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "This was the worst dining out experience I've had in a long time. We had reservations at 7:30 pm but weren't seated until almost 9:00 pm. The hostess initially told us it would be a 20 minute wait and then disappeared. After insisting that she seat us, she placed us at the worst table. It took10 minutes for a waiter to visit our table. After all that, when my food came it was lukewarn. It was a huge disapointment. We will never return."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We missed a movie after waiting about 40 minutes between salad and entrée. We will not be going back. For the price and location, the service, though very proper, was unreasonably slow."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "I reserved a table at Luca and Leonardo for my wife and I to celebrate a special day. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were told that there were no more tables and that we would have to dine on the patio because it was a wine tasting night..something that would have nice to know beforehand, considering it was around 50 degrees out. Once seated, we waited just over 15 minutes before having our drink orders taken, at which point the manager did apologize. The service from that point on was ok, but both steaks were overcooked and the food was decent, but nothing special. Desert was very good, but the entire evening's experience left plenty of room for improvement..."

  • "My wife and I went to L&L for Valentines Day. The priced fixed menu was $75 pp which was incredibly over-priced for what you received. For $150 we shared a small appetizer and a small dessert. We each had our own salad and entree. While evrything was good, it is hard to justify that price point. Our waiter was very good, however."

  • "When we got there we waited at the hostess stand for several minutes. Finally, my husband had to track someone down to help us be seated. Once the host seated us he said he would be back with some water. We sat there for at least 10 minutes with no menus, no drinks. Mind you the place had just opened 10 minutes prior so they were not getting slammed. I didn't want to wait any longer so we got up and left. To the defense of the restaurant they did call and apologize for the experience. The girl that called said there was an accident and they were short staffed. I understand that things happen but the host maybe should have mentioned something to that effect when being seated. They offered us a dining certificate for which we did not take."

  • "We enjoyed just about everything about our first trip to Luca. The widow table was nice, restaurant clean and dignified, the food was especially well presented and delicious. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the choice of music. In such a fine dining decor and environment the music was too pop-like and beat-driven. I would have enjoyed something more classical or easy listening. It just didn't seem to match the atmosphere of the restaurant. Otherwise we really had a good experience."

  • "Maybe they were just off their game because of the super cold weather. The restaurant came highly recommended by several different friends, but we weren't particularly impressed. But, because it was our first time visit, we were intrigued enough that we will try it again. First, prices are a tad higher than other restaurants of equal quality, so that leads to an expectation of something special, but not this night. The mixed seafood appetizer was missing one of the ingredients, but still good with the calamari and shrimp. No explanation why the fish was missing. The grouper special ordered by three in our group was OK, but all said they wish they'd ordered something else. My lobster ravioli was excellent--highly recommend it."
