A word from Luau - Grand Hyatt
Return to the days of ancient Hawaii. Where stories and music passed down from kupuna (elders) are shared with you, our honored guests.

The most significant style of celebration in ancient Hawaii was the luau, held to honor kings, gods and guests. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Luau welcomes you to join us for this time-honored event. The feast is sure to satisfy and the entertainment will keep you enchanted as you learn the traditional dance of the many locales of Polynesia. We invite you to experience the beauty, romance and adventure. It is an evening that you will always remember.
The blowing of the conch shell begins the evening as the soothing sounds of a Contemporary Hawaiian trio lilt through the air. The royal spread includes cuisine from the melting pot of cultures making up Hawaii. After dinner prepare to be enchanted by the historic yet exotic dances of Polynesia, from the islands of Tahiti, Samoa, and New Zealand, to our own Hawaii

Diner Reviews
  • "Have been to other luaus & this one was a definite disappointment! No reserved seating I was told & then all the front tables were marked reserved! It was difficult to find 4 seats for my family together so despite arriving early we were forced into a far back corner. My kids couldn't see because of all the adults sitting in front of us so they were immediately frustrated & bored. We couldn't hear the MC very well but he must have been funny as the people up front were laughing. Would not recommend when u look at price vs. what u get!"

  • "We have been to numerous resort and commercial style luaus in Hawaii over the past 25 years. This one was presented as genuine, original and with entertainment that was truly set to give the audience a great time. And the view.......doesn't get any better!"

  • "This is our 4th lauau and while the food was better than some of the others, the show was not upto par. The emcee was charismatic and costumes pretty, but it just didn't feel as 'authentic' as those on Mauai or Ohau (Polynesian Cultural Center). We still had a nice time and food was unlimited, as were drinks"

  • "A great time in a beautiful location. A fun show, good service, surprisingly good food for a luau--a great time!"

  • "We were not impressed. The table was so far away, we couldn't see without standing. The waiters were more concerned with being funny and flirting than waiting on the rest of us and they were noisy during the show. The food was good and plentiful. I would have liked it if they had announced last call on the buffet's instead of turning around to find all of it was gone, desserts, too."

  • "Kalua pig was the best around and enjoyed the man who prepared it..informative and funny. The host was also very entertaining and engaging with audience participation. The musicians were great and the dancers were very fun to watch, but one of the men was a bit unprofessional with ongoing laughing directed toward one of the other dancers. The man demonstrating how to make flower leis talked with someone running the business about checks and other things, not acknowledging our presence once. Felt unprofessional. Prior to the show a few dancers allowed the kids to try a skill..very cool experience. The location was beautiful with views of the beach but had a backyard feel with the plastic chairs, rows of tables and a big plain stage."

  • "Small food portions and very overpriced . Really strange little man kept sneaking up behind to remove plates. Service snail slow. Had reservations an had to wait 15 minutes to be seated with plenty of available tables in sight."
