Diner Reviews
  • "we had a good time getting together on the patio. nobody hustled us to leave."

  • "The shrimp was the right temperature and firmness, hard boiled eggs were nicely displayed on the plate with crisp lettuce and tomatoes with generous portion of dressing on the side. Wouls return for the salad but hope to save room for desert next time."

  • "Still lacks the charm of the orginal Lou's. Bar is small and right inside the door and as a result is cramped. Host/Owner? Was totally unprofessional. Saw him dress his bartender down in the middle of service, then chewed out a server later, only to sit down at a table near his podium to enjoy a glass of vino with a very attractive woman whom one could only assume was his date. Server Audrey and bartender Katie were aces. Won't go back"

  • "Food was a disappointment, don't waste your time. Plenty of better places close by."

  • "At an early Saturday evening meal we had the Lobster Roll. the Lobster Ravioli, and the Capellini Pomodoro. All were very good, especially the Lobster Roll served in an open pocket, making the eating a very clean process. The Lobster Ravioli was very good, though the portion a bit on the stingy side. Would have been nice if Parmesan cheese had been offered for the pasta (Capellini Pomodoro). Overall the service was good. Parking immediately behind the restaurant was convenient and included free valet service if desired."

  • "We have dined at this restaurant before. We again found it to our liking. Lou's Village has a special history and much of the decor reflects it. The food was excellent, the ambience great and the service was very good, though we prefer a waiter who does not have quite as much facade. . The entire evening was what we expected...very nice. We will be back."

  • "Good food. Took guests and they enjoyed the meal."

  • "We were celebrating with family and found this wonderful place in a cute part of town. Delicious food, great service and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend!"

  • "Very disappointed in the seafood fettucine which was supposed to have scallops included but I only had two tiny cut pieces in my entire dish. The manager was kind enough to bring me a large sauteed scallop cut into 4 slices."

  • "Starting with the vodka gimlet and ending with the cappuccino chocolate chip gelato. We loved it. I had lobster ravioli that were in a delicate wonton style and my husband had the cioppino (sp?). It was great. Brian was a friendly and excellent server. Glad we found Lou's in their Willow Glen location."

  • "Had Caesar Salad with Prawns -- house-made dressing is delish. Prawns are from Mexico, so they are the meaty white-flesh sweet ones, not the watery translucent tasteless ones. Companion had salmon -- very good, but he didn't rave about it because we make salmon at home all the time and have perfected it."

  • "Great Caesar salad; added prawns...server knew they were Mexican prawns (I don't eat Asian shrimp). Dressing is house-made and delicious. Two chardonnays available -- one $8.50, the other $15.00. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Server was enthusiastic about menu items."

  • "We picked Lou's Village for a friend's Birthday dinner. It was a wonderful experience from the time we entered until we walked out the door. Service was impeccable, food scrumptious and they made it feel like a celebration."

  • "Bread & butter: they should have a better sour Dough bread. This bread had no flavor. But the butter was easy to spread. Crab cakes were good. Grilled artichokes: good flavor but undercooked. The special, Mediterranean orzo prawns, were so vinegary I didn't enjoy or finish. The service, waitstaff were very good. My wife's Baja prawns with mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious. Her second time having that dish. 3 glasses if wine, good. We spent over $100 each visit and both times left feeling like we got half the value."

  • "We ordered half oysters, crab cakes, fried calamari and all taste very good, especially calamari! I orderd special shrimp dish, it was very good too."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The food is outstanding. Items are prepared to order and plenty of food for the price. The stuffed prawns are big and loaded with crab under a bed of rice..great dinner. The service is quick and host staff is friendly to your needs."

  • "I made reservations here based on the ratings of others but we were really disappointed. The oysters rockafeller was probably the worst I've ever had. I think they must have used frozen spinach and hollandaise sauce which made each one wet (not broiled to a toasty crusty top!) and slimy and, interestingly enough, sweet. Yick. The spinach salad had so much dressing on it that I literally put each leaf on my salad plate while I scraped off the dressing with a butter knife. What was good was the raw oysters (not credit to the chef on that) and the calamari was nicely prepared although a bit greasy. Sorry, but this is regrettable for a Bay area seafood restaurant. With such amazing ingredients, it shouldn't be rocket science to make this work!"

  • "Food was excellent and he desserts artistically presented. Would suggest to those ordering lobster not make our mistake by having it steamed! Have your lobster boiled! It will make the shell easier to crack! As a veteran lobster-eater and one who has cousins who are lobstermen, I'm embarrassed by this mistake!!"

  • "The food was very good, particularly enjoyed the grilled scallops, they were great! Clam chowder was very good as well. The service was good at times and inconsistent at other times. Slow to clear the table when all members of the party were through eating and did not ask if wanted refill on coffee."

  • "We celebrated Father's Day here, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Using this website, we were able to reserve a table with no trouble, whatsoever, which made it that much more enjoyable."

  • "This may be a downsized and modernized version of Lou's, but it retains the wonderful food, service and atmosphere."

  • " I went to Lou's for father day. Took my family and we had a great time. Will go back again. The food was great and so was the service. My grandson really enjoyed the fish tank over the bar. We had great discussion during our dinner he was looking for Nemo."

  • "Always enjoy Lou's Village! Happy to see it in Willow Glen."

  • "The food was wonderful and the staff very attentive. Very cormfortable and interesting decor. The only complaint we had is that it's very difficult to come into the restaurant if your handicapped. We took my 92 year old mother and basically had to use the bus stop area to get her out of the car. There is an elevator but the building owners keep it locked on the weekends. Call ahead and the manager will unlock it for you. He did for us when we were leaving. The food was excellent and appreciate how the staff helped when we complained about how hard it was to enter. We didn't eat outside but next time I will as it also looked very nice."

  • "Exactly the feel you want when dining out with family. Every dish did not disappoint food was delicious, kid-friendly place, outstanding service. Will defiantly keep coming back for more!"

  • "We are old patrons of the Original Lou's Village and I have now been to lunch and dinner at the new place. I was very happy with both experiances. It was expensive for dinner but it was date nght so that was fine and it wasn't the food that was costly it was our drinks! Both of our dinners were well presented and the taste was excelent. And my husband said he would be happy to go back again."

  • "I took my husband here for an early Father's Day lunch. The food was great! Full of flavor and you can tell the seafood was fresh! The service was excellent, and the restaurant itself was really nice and bright, decorated nicely, and the rest rooms were clean. We'll be taking more family dinners and lunches here, for sure!"

  • "Love this place. So glad it has reopened. We had oysters on the half-shell, very fresh. I had a lobster roll and my partner a steak. Service was cheerful and prompt. As a seafood lover from back East, I treasure Lou's Village. We'll be back!"

  • "Met friends for dinner, none of us had been to this restaurant. calamari and oysters rockafeller were tasty. Oyster dish had a different taste, with a hint of fennel. My salmon was a bit salty, but adding the freshly squeezed lemon eliminated the problem. Husband's scallops were delicious and the other couples prawns were also pronounced good. Wine was good, and no room for dessert. "

  • "First impression was the ambience, which is very nice. The host and server were very friendly and quite professional. The service was impeccable, but more importantly, the food is outstanding. My date said it was the best fish and chips she ever had, and my salmon dinner was the best I've ever enjoyed. My date commented that even the house white wine was outstanding. It wasn't very crowded, so the noise level was low, allowing us to enjoy a nice meal and conversation together. I highly recommend Lou's Village!"

  • "The bread was dry, the oysters that came with the pasta had a bad taste, the kids' pasta dish was tasteless and the white chocolate cheese cake was terrible - felt like eating a box of butter! On the other hand, our waiter and the service level were great!"
    Dined on 5/26/2014
  • "Lou's has been on our list to dine ever since they re-opened in the new location. I am not sure why we waited so long. The service was great, the new location is fantastic and the food was devine. While many of the entrees were good, the salmon was the best that I have ever had. "

  • "We had a great dinner. My wife had a lobster sandwich which was loaded with lobster, and I had any excellent serving of salmon. My wife who is from the east coast, and very familiar with good lobster, thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich. My salmon was perfect, just the right consistency with a moist piece of salmon. Service was just right, and had a great evening. Recommend Lou's Village."

  • "We've been to the "new" Lou's Village a couple of times now, and it has always been a good experience. We've met friends there for dinner and, though it's a lively place, the noise level does not prevent conversation. The food is excellent. One of our group had a special request for modifying his order, and the kitchen did a superb job. We'll be back."

  • "Enjoyed a meal with my wife at Lou's. I absolutely love the lobster roll and calamari. They also had a short rib special that was incredible. Very old style homemade. After the meal we were at the bar for dessert and had chocolate martinis with chocolate torte. The perfect end to the evening."

  • "When I made the reservation through OpenTable, I wrote that is was our son's 16th birthday but he would be mortified if people were to sing. Our wait person discreetly brought a chocolate sundae to him-no candle, no singing, just perfect. Oh, and the food was delicious-great seafood and steak too."

  • "First thing you will notice is the big water fountain out in the front. When the weather is nice, it would be great to sit out side and have lunch! Once you get in, you see the boat themed interior decoration, which goes well with the food. I can't speak for anyone else, but my baked prawns were great!! I also recommend cream brulee. Overall, food was great (but a bit salty) and the service was exceptional. I went with my coworkers and my boss, and they all enjoyed it :)"
