A word from Lou's Food Bar
Lou’s Food Bar is a neighborhood spot that serves American country food with a French twist. Lou's is intended to be the little sister to Mizuna—Frank Bonanno's flagship restaurant. While Mizuna is high-end American food with strong French influences, Lou's Food Bar is a more playful offspring—still maintaining that French influences, but a little livelier, more casual—a cost-friendly neighborhood venue that strives to offer excellence in both fare and service. Lou's Food Bar focus on fresh ingredients, at the peak of their flavor profile, simply prepared and beautifully rendered.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Was hoping for better given that this is one of Frank Bonnano's restaurants -- food quality was fine but dishes were unimaginative and overpriced"

  • "Visited Lou's Food Bar for a mid week happy hour. Our server was very friendly and gave great recommendations on food and wine."

  • "My husband and I tried this place as we both love french food. I thought the food was good, not excellent. Pretty similar to something I would make at home. But the service and ambiance were both very good, as well as the cocktails. I think we'll be back."

  • "Out of all the Bonanno restaurants we have eaten at - this is out least favorite. Surly waiter, rushed service, it just was not a good night. I ordered a beer and asked if it was lighter or darker than a Bud (since I am not fond of pee water) It was exactly like a Bud. When the waiter asked if I was enjoying it - I replied no - it looked and tasted like a Bud. No response. That was his attitude most of the meal. the risotto was fine - but not risotto - rather barley and cauliflower. the brick chicken was tiny and the brussels spouts flavorless the Vesper fries were over seasoned and not hot the Caesar salad was over dressed but good the onion soup was enjoyed by all t there was no chocolate anything on the dessert menu - so why bother"

  • "Had a great experience at Lou's....amazing pulled pork Benedict, friendly waiter and nice atmosphere. Would love to try the dinner menu."

  • "Lou's is always great, but I especially enjoy brunch there! great food, great experience... thank you!"

  • "We'd tried Lou's early in its existence for brunch, and it left little impression on us. But for this dinner, all four of us at the table came away impressed. One of the non-drinkers had a Classic Shirley Temple and enjoyed it greatly. I, meanwhile, snarfed down the banh mi burger - not a patty made of pork and onions and sweet chili but an actual burger topped with pork and onions and sauce. It was not overly decadent but right-sized, but it was very tasty. Creativity abounded, from the duck confit to the extra crispy fried chicken. Looking forward to going back again."

  • "Great Food. Friendly but slow service last Friday."

  • "The spot was happening! However, even in a corner - kind of out of the way - I still couldn't hear my own group. The service was slightly slow and the food was good but not delicious."

  • "Great food and service but well drinks overpriced."

  • "If I was forced to find something not perfect it would be the seating. The tables are so close together we could hear every word from the people seated next to us. We almost where bumping elbows."

  • "For some reason I was expecting the food to be a little better for the price. The portions were decent, just the quality I thought was going to be better. I did not know my order came with fries and ordered a side of fries. It would've been nice if the waiter had reminded me of that to make sure if I wanted an extra order. I would not have been offended. Instead she went ahead and brought my Reuben with fries, and another plate of fries. Overall not impressed"

  • "Delicious food, nice ambience, and quite the hot spot (not too quiet-wouldn't come on a romantic date, but a casual one-definitely)."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "It seems Lou's wants to be a destination for foodies with hand crafted drinks. Unfortunately they couldn't deliver in the goods with mediocre cocktails and overlooked specialty sausage in our case. There was also way too much "you can't have that" with minor menu substitution requests that seem like they could have been easily solved with an up charge. Service was pretty friendly but slow. Probably wouldn't make a point to return."

  • "We went to Lou’s for Restaurant week. While their menu for Restaurant week was definitely not their best (it appeared the food items for Restaurant week were massed produced and prepared ahead of time) their regular menu looked delicious. We will come back to try their regular menu despite our disappointment."

  • "Go hear and have a cocktail and a piece of apple pie. Big bar and fun setting, but my food was not good. Like send it back not good. If I'm eating $30/person "neighborhood comfort" food I just want it taste good. I like the idea of "comfort" being salads, sandwiches, burgers etc, but my salad was awful, French onion soup decent, pulled pork sandwich good. Nothing sticks with me at all except how bad the salads were. Just a pile of lettuce with terrible dressings, no flavor, over dressed and under seasoned, bad textures, just not appealing at all. Sad I don't want to ever go back bc I live 4 blocks away and was really excited to try it."

  • "Found this little gem while traveling on business just north of Denver. Had the Rubin sandwich and my colleague enjoyed the Chicken Confit sandwich. Both were excellent. Will be back next time I'm in town!"

  • "We liked this place. Sausage plate app was excellent. Enough for four to share. French onion soup was good. I had the French dip sandwich, thinking it would be smaller than an entrée. Wrong! Lots of meat and fries. I took 1/2 home. My wife had the duck confit. Best ever was here analysis. Carrot cake was OK. A little heavy but tasted good."

  • "We decided to go for Valentine's Day lunch at the last minute. OpenTable showed reservations available at Lou's for 12:30pm. Since this is a "sister" location to the awesome Mizuna we jumped on the reservation. The place was virtually empty when we arrived (not a good sign on VDay!). We both ordered salads - I had the beet salad with chicken while my date chose the mixed green with salmon. First the good...big salads. The bad...nearly everything else. Service was below average (surprising considering the place was deserted). Waiter forgot the chicken on my salad then brought a bowl of pulled chicken (and still charged the $5 up-charge). $46 for 2 salads and 1 bowl of soup seems wayyy to pricey for lunch."

  • "food was very good atmosphere for an expensive dinner not that great, noisey, and chairs were not comfortable and tables were on top of the next ones, very tight space, and the wine was way over priced for barrel wine that wasn't that great."

  • "We had such high expectations for Lou's Foodbar and we have had such wonderful experiences at Bonanos other restaurants. After being seated and putting in our order for appetizers and main courses we didn't see our waiter for another 40 minutes when he brought out house made sausage. The sausages were amazing and we LOVED the hush puppies however we quickly forgot that as we did not receive our main dishes for another 30 something minutes. Again we did not hear from our waiter. My chopped salad was mediocre. My fiancée ordered the fried chicken but couldn't eat very much of it. The oil was still boiling and it was too hot to eat for quite some time."

  • "There were changes in decor and menu since my last visit about 1 year ago. I liked the decor better previously, but the menu changes were positive. The menu is more casual now, but still has house made charcuterie, a craft rueben sandwich, and a few lovely entree selections. The prices are moderate. Our food and service were excellent. I may become a regular."

  • "We were given a gift certificate for the Bonanno Concepts group of restaurants and chose to try Lou's. We were delighted with the ambience, our wait staff were very attentive to our needs and the food was excellent in quality and quantity. We were so happy with our decision and will be back to try other entrees."

  • "Love the bar - it's hopping without being too loud. Love the food - the bar snacks, the burgers, the sandwiches, and most especially, the fried chicken. And love the staff - helpful and friendly."

  • "We had a table of 6 - food was real slow to come but worth the wait. Service was excellent so the long wait for food was not a problem."

  • "Tried Lou's again after a previous visit had left us totally disappointed in the service. SO glad to have kept an open mind for a second chance! This time around the server was delightful - in fact, every one of the staff were terrific. The good was quite tasty and we had a great glass (or two) of wine. I'll happily return again."

  • "The Root Vegetable Hash was SOOOO healthy and good - everything was delicious and so well made. Others at our table had the Ricotta Pancakes and the Fried Chicken with biscuits and gravy. The beignets are not to be missed, either! And the service was impeccable."

  • "some interesting finds on the menu, like the brick chicken, and if you like french fries this is your place. We were there during the dinner hour but it appears that Lou's would be great for a late dinner at the bar."

  • "Our favorite time to visit Lou's is on Tuesday nights, for the family-style fried chicken. It is delicious! And there's always enough to take home to enjoy for lunch the next day."

  • "We arrived about 1:40 for a late lunch and were very disappointed in the service. Took forever to get our order, like 40 minutes. There were only 3 other tables with diners at that time so would have expected timelier service. The food however was very good. If I was in the area I would consider again but would not drive from the south end of town again just to try it out."

  • "I love finding new places that offer interesting brunch food. This isn't your typical eggs and bacon brunch either. Bottomless mimosas for $10 (i got my money's worth) and scrumptious beignets. I had the Duck Confit on a cornmeal waffle. My friends all raved about their meals as well. Free parking and easy highway access. Can't wait to try it for dinner!"

  • "This was our 4 th visit to this restaurant and it was great. You can count on good food and great service. The menu is interesting. Hats of to the chef! The plates are big and well presented. Your expectations are exceeded when the food arrives. Salads are big enough to share. The desserts (banana tart and chocolate cookie bar) were tremendous! The cocktails were also tasty and inventive. We will be back."

  • "Another feather in the cap for Mr. Bonnano. Exceptional food that proves to be a great value as well, based on generous servings. Friendly but not overbearing service, good bar program and actual parking just add to the experience."

  • "My husband and I dined here on Saturday night and were very much underwhelmed by the experience. Service was decent, however the food was a disappointment. We ordered the Osteria fries as an appetizer - we should have taken the waiter's recommendation and had the cheese curds (I think). The fries were such a disappointment - sloppy, largely flavorless. The arugula pesto may as well have not been there at all. We then ordered the fried chicken - okay, but not dynamic. The whipped potatoes were completely under seasoned and there was not a salt shaker to be found. The sauteed kale (the "veg" of the day) was also underwhelming. Overall, completely mediocre. We will not likely return and cannot, in good faith, recommend this place."

  • "I took my mom here before a show at the Bug theater. We shared the beet salad, a side a brussels sprouts, and the lamb stroganoff. They were all really good, the stroganoff was rich. Our waiter was helpful when ordering food and drinks"
