LouroGreat findInventive, innovative, friendly, unpretentious. except for the fake book spines that adorn the wall--bad taste there and hard to figure why such a choice was made. However, i didn't spend much time looking at the walls. We love the monday night menus twists, with the head chef one night and a guest chef from South Carolina another. Bring you own alcohol on Mondays, though they were happy to recommend wines that fit the menu.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreenwich village masterWe went on a sunday evening at 600 pm before the rush. The decor was rustic. A perfect match for the food. The menu was straightforwrd and well balanced. Some wonderful appetizers. Some delicious small plates. And a selection of well chosen main entrees. Our strategy was to graze and share the apps and small plates. That was fun. The entrees more also a delight. The menu changes seasonally so we wont make any suggestions. Try Louro. Its an adventure thst wont dissappoint.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA+ Dining ExperienceLouro provides 4 star food at moderate prices. Service is friendly and attentive, the wine list is nice and the food is outstanding. Chef Santos is inventive and a true culinary artist.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative cuisineVery attentive and thoughtful service helped us meander through a complex and inventive menu. Our server clearly understood the uniqueness of each dish and helped match our palettes and preferences to the offerings on the menu. All four of us experimented with different dishes, large and small. The structure of the menu was excellent, offering choices of little tastes and progressively more ample courses. One cautionary note, if you are not very comfortable with spicy foods, have the server help you understand which are likely to be hotter. The wine menu has some lovely wines. We chose an Austrian one and were quite pleased. All in all, a very pleasant experience , and a unique addition to our neighborhood.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLouro Keeps Getting BetterLouro was great when it opened in December, but it keeps improving. Chef Dave Santos's Monday night special dinners are always fantastic adventures, and a great bargain as well. I love the combination of fine food in an informal, warm setting.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGo for the small plates soGo for the small plates so you can taste more of the interesting flavors! My fiance especially enjoyed the poached pear dessert with brown sugar crumble and pine needles ice cream as a stand-out favorite, despite being too full... I am still remembering the octopus and goose pasta!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a bday dinner thereEnjoyed a bday dinner there very much, albeit the back table was rowdy and loud. Over all great experience look forward to returning for Monday night Supper Club.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMinnovative culinary style, innovative culinary style, reasonable prices, attentive and crisp service3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! Fantastic dishes:Amazing! Fantastic dishes: octopus bolognese, uni, piri-piri shrimp, seafood fritters, tempura duck egg.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe meal was fantastic, withThe meal was fantastic, with unexpected yet perfectly executed flavor combinations (uni with pork belly? octopus bolognese? Yes please). Cocktails were also incredible and unique. Can not wait to return.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for any eve!We booked the table in back for a party of 10, it was perfect. Most importantly, the food is amazing --- really a great deal versus anything else you find in Manhattan. Well-curated wine list and great beers on taps. We also enjoyed a few of their house cocktails. Decor is clean and tasteful. The space is not overly loud so you can actually enjoy your company. Staff is friendly and attentive, and not at all over-bearing. All the small dishes are a MUST! I would think that anyone who enjoys food and likes to hear their friends when they speak would have a great time here.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLouro is our new local treasureWe 're always on the hunt for local spot that's not mobbed, with a good vibe, great service, and delicious food. Louro is it! The menu is exciting--the food is fresh, beautifully presented... homey, comforting, and a twist on the usual. Now if we can just continue to get a cozy table on a weeknight... That would be perfection. Can we just keep this little secret for the neighborhood??3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen's the last time you ateWhen's the last time you ate Emu egg? My husband and I had a delightful experience by choosing the tasting menu. Wow! Each dish was a winner - and creative and beautiful dishes. The Octopus bolognese was also a highlight. Yum!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing FoodI was pleasantly surprised by every course. It was something different but in a good way. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends and family.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExciting new restaurant in the WVI attended one of chef David Santos' supper clubs that were partly a fundraiser for this restaurant, and the restaurant is an extension of that philosophy - extremely high quality ingredients, something a little unusual (emu egg!) and a sense of community that's hard to find in an increasingly gentrified, marketing-driven Manhattan dining scene. Generous portions without sacrificing quality, lots of meat prepared in interesting ways. They have fresh house-made bread which is perfectly executed. My only complaint is that the lemon cake dessert was very similar in shape/texture to the bread and a bit crumbly. The house-made ice cream made up for it though. Great place to take a group of friends or a hot date. Will definitely go back!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Open Table ReviewYou wouldn't even know it was Low Country. Went with 6 to the Monday Supper club, had a blast. Food was awesome (desert was incredible) great drinks and vibe. Really chill, but everything was done to perfection. First review I've ever written on Open Table, but this one was worth it.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed my meal atReally enjoyed my meal at louro. Love the new latin influences in chef santos' food. For being such a new restaurant i can only image the type of food that will be soon coming out of the kitchen as they continue to grow. Go to louro now before it becomes impossible to secure a reservation.2/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find! Louroi is whatWhat a find! Louroi is what a perfect neighborhood place should be: easy, fun and the food is really tasty. Open with a lucious duck rillette and the hamachi crudo; ease into a generous, unctious short rib that is one of the best I've had in awhile; cheat a bite or two of duck off of your companion's plate (hurry, before it's gone). The roasted chicken is lovely -- crisp, moist and the jus is so flavorful. Desserts are playful and well-balanced. The specialty cocktails set up a fun evening and the wine list is approachable and offers opportunities to explore interesting options. The staff is informed and interactive, but not intrusive or overly familiar. All and all, a wonderful experience; I cannot wait to go back.2/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI've had two fantastic mealsI've had two fantastic meals at Louro. It has some of the most creative dishes in NYC, without being different solely for weirdness sake. The precision of the cooking technique and the pristine ingredients set this place apart from some other adventurous foodie destinations in the City. The prices of the food, the staff and the wine list are all approachable and friendly. An absolute gem for groups of friends, a dinner for two or solo dining at the bar.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant, the serviceGreat restaurant, the service was amazing and the food was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the effort on a rainy night!Inventive flavors and textures! Great use of grains and greens, and meat that was treated with respect. The small plates are not so small at all, and vegetarians will be pleased by their multiple options. Outstanding, balanced and not cloying cocktails. Truly spectacular desserts were light, refreshing and unique in the true sense of the world.12/26/2012 12:00:00 AM
