My friend and I sat in the bar/lounge area and had drinks and appetizers, which were very good. My only complaint is the 18% gratuity added to the tab. The majority of the bill was for drinks (which are a little pricey), so an 18% automatic tip for drinks is a bit extreme. There were only two of us and this was not listed anywhere on the menu. Other than the surprise 18% tip, it is a wonderful place.

Lounge 20 is known for being hip and trendy so I've avoided the restaurant for two years. Reviews of the food forced the issue of going. The food was fantastic. The ricotta gnocchi and vegetables were great! My friends meal was equally spectacular. The service was poor. We were one of three tables in the early evening and it took 45 minutes to get our food. It made us wonder how long it would take to get served if the restaurant were full. The other problem was the delay in service of our bottle of wine. We selected one for the minimalist wine menu only to find out 10+ minutes later that it was not available followed by more waiting till a suitable bottle was suggested and poured.

I heard this place was good, but it exceeded my expections. A wonderful menu with some of the most creative dishes we've ever seen. We had a great conversation with the chef about his vision for the restaurant. All the dishes we tried (green salad, gnocchi, cheese plate, rissoto and rib eye stake) were all delicious. Being wine people we did not try the specialty drinks but they looked good. If I have one small complaint it was paying $65 for a bottle of wine that retails for about $14. (Keep in mind, however, that the wine was rated by Parker as one of the best values for under $20 in the world). Still . . . We were told that the wine list was being updated. In the meantime, if you are a wine person, BYO and pay for corkage.

Went to Lounge on 20 for Valentine's Day. The place was great. Their regular menu, I have seen, is fairly small, but very interesting. For Valentine's Day they had a prix fix menu that was absolutely stellar - maybe some of the best food I've had in a while. It also included some interesting molecular gastronomy. On the other hand, the service itself was pretty decent and even the manager came by to see how we were doing. The problem was that they had a ton of staff, but very few waitstaff (i.e. the people who can take drink orders). We were there for a long time and I had to flag people down for drinks several times. I don't think our waitress came to check on us more than once in 2.5 hours.

Summary: Slow service, overpriced, food good but not special The food was good - nothing revelatory or inventive or memorable, but good. Service was extremely slow - we arrived a bit after seven, didn't delay ordering, and the main course didn't arrive until 9 pm. They were out of foccacia, and no other kind of bread was offered. How can a restaurant be out of bread at 7pm on a Friday? Some of the food was under-seasoned, no salt or pepper on the table and no offer to bring any. Presentation was very good, but that's not enough. The arctic char was prepared very well. The previous reviewer who said "I felt like I was in San Francisco or New York, not Sacramento!" is eating in the wrong restaurants in San Francisco and New York.

We had the pleasure of experiencing the chef's tasting menu and have got to say that the entire evening was flawless. All of the five senses (sight, smell, taste, touch and sound) were given a delightful workout. The wine pairings were perfectly matched to round out each course. Thank you Chefs Pajo and Mike for closing out 2011 in a memorable way. Looking forward to more in 2012!

We went for an anniversary and found previous reviews to be spot-on. The food was innovative and delicious, beautifully presented, and the tasting menu was a great sampling of wonderful dishes. Really enjoyed the chefs presenting their courses and answering questions about them. The wine pairings were very nice and I highly recommend the tasting menu with wines. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine (John) should you want help selecting a bottle. The restaurant is fairly large, with an active bar at the end, making it hard to get "romantic " ratings, but the back tables are somewhat set apart and offer a modicum of privacy. All in all, it was a delightful dining experience with personalized service and great food. Try it!

Tuesday evening diner so it was fairly quiet in the restaurant. The modern atmosphere is shades of white which gives an overall feeling of clean and simple yet elegant feel to the restaurant. A nice cocktail and wine list. The menu is quite small but one should find something of interest even for a picky eater. I ordered chicken which was an airline cut with a small amount of celery root puree and sauteed greens - the portions are not large but was enough to satisfy my hunger. My dining companion ordered the tacos and fried mac n cheese. He enjoyed his tacos, and the fried mac n cheese was crispy on the outside, tasty, tho a little dry inside. Service was appropriate for the day of the week and number of guests at the time.

If you have a taste for a meal unlike any other in the Sacramento area, you MUST visit Chef Pajo Bruich at Lounge On 20. He uses molecular gastronomy techniques to create exceptional interpretations of familiar dishes. We had one app from the lounge menu (fried mac & cheese with black truffle), two apps from the dinner menu (gnocchi and scallops), and two entrees (mushroom risotto and chicken two ways). Impeccable preparation, inspired presentation, and delectable taste. Some of the best food in Sac, no question. The service was shockingly abysmal. Hostess didn't have menus, asked where we wanted to sit, then said we couldn't sit there (restaurant nearly empty), busboy smirked with attitude, waiter hovered then completely disappeared.

WOW!!! From my martini, to the wine list, to the foie gras, to the desserts... all I can say is WOW. Chef Pajo and Mike were phenomenal. They came to greet us (as we were friends and fans of their pastry chef), and went over the entire meal. The foie was beyond expectation. Creamy, lustrious, and just went with everything on the plate. Presentation of EVERYTHING was immaculate. The desserts were beyond what Chef Elaine Baker does. Having been a huge fan of hers at Grange, it is good to see she is not wasting her talents there anymore. She has gone above anything I could think of. With lots of great staff, service was impecable. I WILL be going back, and frequently.

Had a birthday dinner at Lounge On 20. Overall, it was a great experience. Our group had the 3 course meal for $30. It was a great deal. The food was delicious. We also had the femme fatale punch bowl for drinks which was more than enough for the 6 of us. The music was too loud while we were dining. Did not like yelling across the dinner table. Service was bit slow at times. After eating we continued to enjoy cocktails and danced. Music was okay. I wish there was a greater mix of music. Too much dance electronica.

it was horrible for a while. uninviting, bland food, and just an abundance of douche in attendance. maybe it's because dive bar opened and the lame found a new place to go, but regardless of the cause lounge on 20 really stepped up their act. they got new servers (thank god,) they redid the menu (thank god,) and the douches are somewhere else (thank god.) the food is better than good, it's great now. the service is memorable and personal. the rearrangement of the interior now makes total sense, and I can't think of a restaurant in Sacramento that I like more now, for a Friday night dinner that is.

The food was delicious but it took forever to get it. There wasn’t a lot of people there when we arrived but had to wait 20 mins to get our appetizer. It was very romantic and perfect for the 2 of us on VDay. Although we loved the VDay menu it would have been nice if they had their full menu available especially if we were going to have to wait so long for each course of our meal. Our server was great and they were very attentive. I would totally recommend this place but dont be in a rush be willing to take your time and dont be to hungry because you will have to wait for your food. At least you know its fresh though!

This was my 2nd time here and I loved it but the last time I was there, everything was perfect except our waiter. He kept rushing us to pick what we wanted, it's like he had no patientce so he was kind of annoying and a nuisance especially since we were still waiting on our 2nd and 3rd party. So that was one thing. I also was surprised with the music, the last time I was there which was on a Friday night, the atmosphere and music was to die for!!! And that's why I returned again, but the music was a major disapoinment on Saturday night, look for another DJ, no joke! And I think they should have a dress code, people were dressed so casual. I was surprised to see girls with UGGZ on that were allowed to come in.

For someone that doesn't go out to eat often, it was generally a good experience. The food was delicious but heavy on the salt for my taste. Possible use of msg? I would have preferred the spring rolls not to be fried. Appreciate the trendy table ware and design. Also somewhat noisy. The choice of high banquet or low lounge seating doesn't make for a cozy intimate date, but it was enjoyable. Definite disappointment not to have coffee served with desert.
