Food definitely not fresh. All
the creole dishes tasted the same and used the same sauce. Some dishes not served evenly hot indicating possible microwaving of pre-prepared dishes. Odd uncomfortable atmosphere with kitchen appearing to be upstairs from main floor. There are plenty other Baltimore restaurants to choose from. Very high priced for the quality of food and poor service."

A bad evening from start to
finish. The entire front room staff consisted of two women who tried to handle everything: greeting, tending bar, answering the phone, seating, waiting tables, bussing tables...we did not see a single other person working outside the kitchen. A two-course dinner to 2 1/2 hours. They got the cocktail order wrong, there were missing ingredients on the food, the wine list no longer applied to what they actually had on hand, and this lovely evening cost us more than $100. We will not be going back."

Great service for a party of 7.
Food was great and the service was effective."

I took my mother to Louisiana for
Mother's Day. Very quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Cozy, even though this place is huge! I had the roasted beet salad, the crab cake, and lamb for an entree. Every morsel was scrumptious and portion sizes were more than adequate. No way I could do a full 3 courses on any future visit. We both left there very satisfied. We've found a new dinner spot!"

nice confortable, NOLA food.
service a little slow, but not too slow that makes you uncomfortable. My wife likes service more attentive, for me, it was great, non- intrusive, time to enjoy my appetizer and time to talk.. truly enjoyable dinner."

Still one of our favorites for
over 10 years in the heart of Fells Point. Even when understaffed, you still get wonderful service and attention. Food is great. Only complaint is that you get so much of the great food per serving that you are so stuffed that you cannot make it to dessert. "

Outstanding food and love the
ambiance. New Orleans feel"

girls night out for dinner of
three. ordered the crabcake and it was amazing. the kitchen messed up and thought it should have been the cream of crab soup and we got to try it (amazzing). by the time my second course came I was already full. I had ordered the shrimp & grits. the shrimp was big and had just enough amount of the blackened seasoning. the grits was well cooked and flavorful. one of the other girls had the salmon and we were blown away by the portion size; which could have fed all of us. the creme brulee was the perfect ending and the wine was reasonably priced. the server was not intrusive and the timing of each course was perfect. we had a wonderful dinner and will definitely be back again."

This is a gem...one would never
know from the street what a huge and gorgeous restaurant this is. The food is great...all hand made...with the downside being it takes a long time to be served. This is made more challenging as there is usually only a skeleton staff...because I've never seen more than two or three tables occupied. The server is typically the greeter, server and bartender. Apparently the owner does not believe in advertising or the Internet, so the place is always empty, and staffed appropriately. I was told they do a huge special events business - in the gorgeous formal dining room - and this is what keeps the place running. It is a wonderful place...that I wish more would go to so as to add some life...and staff. :-)"

We had a bad experience here on
Valentines Evening, Our Food was "lost" and when found served to us reheated"
Dined on 2/14/2014
The service was extremely slow.
Apparently on Valentine's day they only had ONE chef working. It took about 45 minutes just to get our starter salads. The wait staff was great and very apologetic about it. The restaurant was also a little chilly. The food was incredible. I had the scallops with crab and potato hash and it was delicious! It was almost worth the wait. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I think that they only had one chef on staff was a one off."

We went to Baltimore to see War
Horse for my birthday and needed somewhere good for a special dinner after the show. Louisiana completely fitted the bill. It was a shame at the shortage of clientele, but as a result the service we received, the food we ate and the ambiance and noise level were all simply outstanding. The place is actually enormous, but the dining room we ate in was small and select. I am looking forward to our return in three weeks time."

A Saturday night with only three
other tables, two twos, and a four @ 8 PM The restaurant was cold, about 60 degrees. We were served a basket of mostly burned, and I mean black crumbling ash, bread. We ordered a salad and bisque that arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered. The salad looked nice, but was lacking in taste. The bisque was tasty but broken. Second course blackened shrimp and grits, and "duo of petite crab cakes gently broiled…" arrived about 15-20 min after we finished our first. The grits were amazing! The shrimp were large but tasted like flash frozen Vietnamese prawns in blackening seasoning. The "Duo" was one large and burned. The gumbo was mediocre filled with sub par frozen seafood but the duck confit was quite good."

Variety of food and drink should
manage to keep everyone in the party happy. Ambience is very pleasing. Noise level is low enough to be able to carry on a decent table conversation. Vicinity parking can be difficult on weekends."

Restaurant was a little cold
inside. Took a while to get served. Food was great. Decor of the restaurant was fantastic"

We liked everything about our
dinner at Louisiana: the food, the drinks, and the service. It isn't the first time we dined there and we were glad we thought of it for New Year's Eve. The thing we love the most is the atmosphere and the decor. It is a beautiful restaurant."
Dined on 12/31/2013
This large and elaborately
decorated restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday evening. Despite being one of 2 active tables in the dining room, service was slow. The prices were too high for the quality of the food we ordered."
Dined on 12/6/2013
We were literally the ONLY people
in the restaurant for our entire meal but I can't understand why! The food was great, the ambiance was amazing, and the service was prompt and attentive. We walked around the restaurant a bit after our meal. It would be a beautiful venue for an event!"

Dined there on a Sunday night at
8:30 p.m. There were only two other couples dining then and we soon found ourselves all alone in a cavernous facility. I suspect that hosting catered events, not restaurant dining, is their real money-maker. The front door was even locked when we arrived. The place is gorgeous, like a movie set for a Gilded Age dining parlor. But the food was disappointing and doesn't hold a candle to real Creole cuisine. The dinner rolls tasted like they were bought frozen from Safeway. The salad was generous but didn't taste fresh, and the gumbo- which they warned was spicy - was bland. Their crabcake is phenomenal - backfin lumps piled high and lightly held together by a modicum of filler. The bread pudding was bland."

Went here for our anniversary
dinner and thoroughly enjoyed a diamond in the rough. You'd never expect to find what's on the inside from the outside look. We had a romantic experience that made our anniversary a day to remember and our bellies full."

One brief story: We were the only
people in the restaurant. Because I made the reservation on OpenTable, they wanted to honor it, even though they had prepared to be closed for the evening. 'Nuff said (well, actually, the other thing to say is that the food was outsanding)."
Dined on 8/31/2013
We had a wonderful dinner.
Everything was superb, the professional staff, the ambiance , and the exquisite foods. We loved everything and can't wait to have dinner there again."

Elegant old world feel, friendly,
nice southern menu, great service, good pour drinks, fun, out of the crowds"

This restaurant is superb. Its
clean, the food is delicious, and the décor is absolutely beautiful. Romance can happen here. Class is what this restaurant carries."
Dined on 7/31/2013
After a slow start and little
attention, everything started to flow smoothly. Dinner was wonderful, and the waitress found her way back to us reliably."

My husband and I took my parents
out to celebrate my mom's 78th birthday. We had a wonderful time in this lovely, quiet, environment. We ordered two appetiers, the shrimp and grits, and a wonderful duck salad with field greens, sliced pears, and I don't know what else, just that it was delicious. My husband is a beef eater and orderd the prime rib, which was really good, Dad orderd the gumbo, which was too spicy for him, but he said it was good, and Mom ordered the scallops, very good. I had the sea bass, which I thought was over-cooked and oily for my taste. I didn't really care for it, but overall, it was a really nice dining experiencing."

The food was good. The service was
wonderful and the atmosphere was even better. Would go back in a heartbeat"
Dined on 7/3/2013
The duck is the best in Baltimore.
My other favorite is the shrimp and grits. You can never go wrong eating here. My husband had the house special soft shell crab, I think as part of Baltimore soft shell crab week. Hands down best soft shell crab dish ever."

Louisiana is a diamond in the
rough in Fells Point. Outstanding menu! Quiet, romantic and nestle among the busy bar scene of Fells Point. The interior is beautiful, with the feeling of an old speakeasy. Beautiful decor and perfect for couples or large groups."
Dined on 5/31/2013
A beautiful setting; generous,
expertly-mixed cocktails; and creative, Southern-inspired dishes. Although there was only a single front-of-the-house person on the week-night we were there (who served as hostess, bartender, and waitress), service was attentive and friendly. Waits were not excessive, and our meals arrived piping hot and delicious. Portions were generous and beautifully presented. We'll definitely be back!"
Dined on 5/29/2013
We had a wonderful evening at
Louisiana. The service was attentive, even resetting a private corner table for us to enjoy a quieter more intimate dinner. The duck confit was outstanding yet again. It is one of the main reasons for returning to this restaurant."
Dined on 5/11/2013
I actually expected more. A longer
list of bourbon, a larger menu and better presentation. Overall it was a middle of the road experience."
Dined on 4/20/2013
The restaurant is beautiful, the
food is very good, but the service is painfully slow. Would not recommend this restaurant only due to the very slow service...our party was only six people."
Dined on 4/13/2013
The food was DELICIOUS! Expensive
but the food was worth every penny and you get what you pay for - we were stuffed when we left! When you walk in - it is like going back in time. We were eating for 2 hours and didn't even realize it."
Dined on 4/13/2013
It was fantastic in every regard.
Beautiful building. Good portions. Great food. Very competent server. We'll definitely go back."
Dined on 4/10/2013
We were really looking forward to
dining here for my sons Birthday...Waitstaff, the little there was, was very nice...From the start the service was very very very slow...They did give the 3 of us a glass of bubbley to start which was very nice...Took too long to order, too long to get our apps and too long to get our main...We were there from 6:30pm til 9:30pm on a Thursday evening...I think this is the longest I have ever spent dining at a restaurant... However, the Food was very very good..Well thought and prepared...I was sooo disappointed in the service..Only 2 women serving a room full of people..This could have been such a great experience...Would go back for the food but not the very very slow service.. Sorry..."

Excellent! From the moment we
stepped inside of Louisiana to the moment we left everything was perfect. The decor was magnificent -- so lovely, warm, but elegant. The service was attentive with out being intrusive which was most appreciated. Food -- so delicious, carefully prepared and plated. Great, fine dining experience. Will return. Thank you. HM"

This was my second trip to
Louisiana. Booked a reservation on OpenTable for Saturday 7:30pm. Tried to move to 7pm, but was told that there were no slots available at that time. When we arrived, the large restaurant was nearly empty. Layout/decor is amazing, with a US Southern flare and French influence. The service was particularly slow this evening. Our server kept returning to give us updates on our orders, even without prompting - was it that evident that we had been waiting? Perhaps they were short-staffed in the kitchen. The shrimp and grits were impeccable, but the entrees (gumbo and sea bass) were pretty bland and left something to be desired."

I wish there was more music, or
live music, or that it was a little louder in general. GREAT location and GORGEOUS decor."
Dined on 3/23/2013
Loved the old southern mansion
feel of this restaurant! Our experience was stellar from start to finish...and we are not easy to please! Service was great, food prepared and presented beautifully. We will definitely return!"
