Louie’s Wine Dive is obsessed with really good grapes, creative gourmet comfort food, and a funky fun atmosphere to share it in. We search all over the world to find you great wine, many of which come from our relationships with small, lesser known vineyards, at a great value to our guests. Wine is supposed to be Fun, not pretentious, so let us know when you taste that new varietal and how it changed what you thought wine was supposed to be.
Our gourmet comfort food is made fresh using eco friendly and local ingredients whenever possible. As for the fun, we instigate it but count on you and yours to see it to fruition (literally through the fruit!). It’s meant to be your place, so please enjoy...and if you enjoy it as much as we do, grab one of our unique bottles to share at home.

  • "My wife and I ate at Louie's and had a great time. The hummus was a little cream-cheesey or something that made it less flavorful than some hummus. Was still okay. Our entrees were great, wine was good. Great policy of opening bottles if you will drink 2 glasses and leave the rest for another group to order. Great desserts. My wife said butter cake was the best dessert she has ever had. I had the cookie skillet and also was terrific. We ate outside which was nice."

  • "Great food choices, that made it hard to choose! Sit outside if you can, great for people watching and road noise is not too bad. Easy going and did not feel rushed. Owner/Chef Louie seated us...very cool! Would definitely go back!"

  • "I had excellent service, I loved the location and ambience of the restaurant. The gluten free noodles in my dish were undercooked, but that is because most people do not know how to cook gluten free noodles. It took me a long time at home to get the tricks to gluten free cooking. However, I was extremely happy that at least they offered gluten free dishes, or dishes that could at least ben modified. I will definitely be trying them out again. Additionally, their wine list was great. Their "open any bottle for you" policy is great. If you want a spot to drink good wine, this is your spot. If you love people watching a diverse area of Lake St, even better. We ate inside, but the outside patio looks awesome!"

  • "My daughter and I met for a 'light' dinner. We were greeted by friendly faces and chose to sit outside. Our server was very knowledgeable on the wines and shared with us the Happy Hour specials. We enjoyed the Squeaky Cheese appetizer with two dipping sauces which was delicious. (very quick to come to the table) and shared the Vegetable Ratatouille. DELICIOUS and they were VERY kind to split the dish in two plates with out our asking! Great food, wine, atmosphere and service!"

  • "My boyfriend, my daughter and I had dinner at Louie's Wine Dive on Sat. night and everything was excellent! The food was really good, the service was spot on and the overall atmosphere was happy and laid back. We, too, had the homeless person situation come up towards the end of our meal and one of the waiters was there immediately to handle. He spoke to the gentleman kindly but firmly, asking that if he was not planning to dine with them that he continue on his way. Would definitely return as this is a great addition to the dining scene in Uptown!!"

  • "We went to Louie's for lunch during Restaurant Week, to kick off a long weekend without the kids. Greeting us with a complimentary glass of sparkling really set us up to enjoy! The shrimp bisque was tasty, with a hint of heat. Squeaky cheese and BLT deviled eggs were nicely done, but nothing surprising -- kinda hard to screw up deviling an egg and deep-frying cheese curds. My husband liked his burger, which was cooked perfectly. I liked the slight twist on classic ingredients in the salmon nicoise salad, although it was overdressed (as are pretty much all restaurant salads). We sat outside, which was fine except my chair wasn't under the overhang so I got drizzled on a little. Service was pleasant and accurate, but a little scattered."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Louie's Win Dive for restaurant week. Each course took an increasing amount of time to reach us. We had been in the restaurant for roughly an hour and a half by the time the our main courses arrived. Several other tables left prior to receiving their main courses due to the amount of time. The waiter was nice, but didn't seem to acknowledge the length of time we were there. By the time we were given the check at 2 hours in, it took about 5-10 mins for him to run the card. The food as good which makes me want to give it another shot, but I am hesitant to go on a busy evening."

  • "We went during restaurant week. They seemed to be under staffed. Our food was delivered to the table next to us, and the other side table got up and left because it took too long, and they had another commitment. I loved the food. I will try it again."

  • "After having a great experience in Des Moines, we were excited to try to the new mpls location. I don't normally do this as I eat out 5-10 times/ week as I travel for work so I'll keep it simple. - have a staff more interested in your customer than their phones - have a staff that knows of cares even a little bit about wine, I wanted to try something new- didn't happen - your menu is simple and you were slow,you're food should be great, instead we got a piece of salmon jerky and chewy steak drenched in garlic. I left feeling like I could've gotten more satisfaction out of burning a $100 bill than having dinner at Louie's. I wish I would've left after my first sip of turned wine ."

  • "Our servicer Monnie was awesome, and accommodating. The bottomless Mimosa’s in various favors, very good our favorite was the “hibiscus bubble, and cranberry juice. Brunch was just “okay”. I had the Harvest Benedict, with a side of microwaved, paper thin bacon, of which left much to be desired at $3.00 - really Louie’s. The benedict overall had a tasty hollandaise sauce, sweet and subtle brussel sprouts, nicely pouched egg. Good job! My companion had the Shrimp and Grits, of which I wasn’t offered a taste, and I can only assumed they were enjoyable, as the bowl was clean to the last spoon full. I’m sure I’ll go back if for no other reason the Mimosa’s – the jury is still out of the food. P.S. Better bacon please?!!!!"

  • "This was our first time at Louie's and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere as we sat outside. The food was alright, nothing too special but reasonably priced which is appreciated. The music was a bit loud for great conversation. All and all we had a good time and can see us going back again. Their house wines are great!"

  • "I've been to Louie's a couple of times and I've had a great time each time. The first time we went just for drinks but the menu intrigued us and we decided to go again. The wine list is respectable and the signature drink menu is fun but we were really surprised at the food. The menu is full of stuff not normally seen on menus and everything we tried was well received. I had the pork chop and it was well cooked and delicious and our appetizer of deviled eggs was fun and something not seen as a selection many places. I can't wait until I have a reason to go again!"

  • "Went to Louie's on Saturday, June 7. The food was very good. I had the crab cakes, and they were very good but a little too brown for my taste. They had good flavor and had a lot crab chunks in them. My friend had the chicken and that was very good as well. Wine prices are a little high, but there is a good selection. I had the flourless chocolate cake/torte for dessert. I was a little surprised that they served that cold. I would have preferred at closer to room temperature. The cheesecake was good, but they should serve it with fresh sliced strawberries for a better appearance. I would go there again though."

  • "Strange mix of young and old gathered in a space that seemed confused in its own definition: Sports Bar meets Wine Bar meets Neighborhood Pub meets Fine Dining Establishment. Food service was fast. Food was very well cooked. Wine selection was plentiful. Tables were very small. Good food, good wine, good people watching time. All-in-all, not a bad experience. Need to return for a 2nd opinion, but in general it was a fun and tasty experience."

  • "Went last Friday night with daughter, sister and future daughter in law to celebrate engagement and just getting together. Got the booth (but one had to sit in a chair - which took her a little further from the group conversations unless you leaned over and talked loud, The noise level was very loud - but packed and everyone seemed to like the place. Get the pig stix!!! YUM! Our server Terrance was on his toes and recommended wines we really liked. We'll be back."
