A word from Louie's Wine Dive - Kansas City
Louie’s is obsessed with really, really good grapes, creative gourmet comfort food, and a funky, fun atmosphere to share them. We search all over the world to find you great wines. Many wines come from our relationships with smaller undiscovered vineyards, which offer a great value to our guests.
Wine is supposed to be Fun! We pour BIG and will open any bottle for our guests to try by the glass. When you taste a new varietal at Louie’s, let us know how it changed your concept of what wine is supposed to be.
Our gourmet comfort food is made fresh, using eco-friendly and local ingredients. As for the fun, we instigate it, but count on you to see it to fruition (literally through the fruit!). Louie’s is your place, so please enjoy it as much as we do, grab one of our unique bottles when you leave – we have a great selection of wine available to take home and share with family and friends.

Diner Reviews
  • "Our experience started when our server spilled water on our table when she brought water after 10 minutes. We were about to leave at that point. And if it weren't for the food I'd say we should have. The food was fantastic, reasonable and beautiful! The bottomless mimosa was empty as often as it was full and not really ever cold. We waited for our other drinks so long they were warm when they arrived and another server brought them and said "were you waiting for these? They were sitting on the bar forever." At one point our server even suggested we take the flavor of mimosa she was carrying because "you should just take what you can get." We'll go back but if we receive similar service we won't return."

  • "We went for my Mom's birthday brunch and had a blast! Can't wait to go back. Bottomless mimosas were perfection."

  • "It's called a wine dive, but I'm sure that's only so you don't worry about your dress. I'm not knowledgeable about wine, so I can't speak on that, though the list was extensive. Everything on the menu looked wonderful, it was hard to choose! I will definitely be back to taste from this great menu."

  • "I made a reservation for brunch 5 days in advance, this was a great idea. I saw several people who tried to walk in for brunch and ended up leaving due to a very long wait. It does get loud so not the best place for conversation. We still had a good meal and a good time."

  • "Been here a few times and love it. The only downside is that bottomless mimosas make some customers verrrry noisy, and my parents, who are older, had a hard time hearing anything when I took them. Would definitely recommend for weekend brunch, especially if you don't mind loud noises. Great wine selection and unique menu. Also, the servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive (despite the place being packed). Make a reservation if you are going on the weekend."

  • "Had hoped for a quiet more intimate dinner with my husband. It was our first time eating there. We were almost slammed in a corner with the next table only 6" away, could hear their conversation like they were talking to us. Would've like to at least seen downstairs and heard the live music, too bad it can't be piped in upstairs. Upstairs was really noisy, more bar scene like. I'll try again for a table downstairs. Food was great!!"

  • "I have been to Louie's for lunch a couple of times and it was fine--good food and service. We dined there Sat night. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Many of the tables are very close together and when the dining room is crowded--there is a lot of noise. It took quite a while to get our entrée salads after our appetizer. I could not hear our waiter when he came by to check on us. We won't go back for dinner."

  • "What a neat restaurant concept! They have lots of wine choices and will open any bottle if you commit to buying 2 glasses. There are also open bottles listed on the wall (red/white) with a per glass price. Good menu - lots of options. Everything from fish and chips to shrimp and grits. The fish specials were well received at our table, too. Also, there were beer choices for the non-wine drinkers at our table. We had a group of 7 that grew to 9 - not a problem for our server. He was laid back, but he knew his stuff! I want to come back to try brunch. There are a few tables for outdoor seating facing Wornall."

  • "Bottomless mimosas! Awesome crab cakes Benedict and breakfast flat bread. We did have to wait a few minutes past our reservation time due to a few large groups. We'll worth the wait though."

  • "We celebrated Valentine's Day with another couple at Louie's Wine Dive, and we had a wonderful time. The menu is nicely eclectic and has many gluten-free options. We love the appetizer selections, especially the deviled eggs. All of our entrees were solid. The servers are well-versed on the wine options, so feel free to ask questions; in addition to the wine, mixed drinks are delicious too. The music downstairs was good but a bit loud. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "Immediately loved the feel of this place...you just walk in, sit back and relax! It's very different (in a great way) from other places in the area. There is an amazing downstairs with a lounge feel and live music on the weekends. The service was incredible. We have food allergies and the chef came out to tell us all about what they could create/modify for us. The lobster french fries and shrimp and grits were spot on. We also enjoyed the salmon and quinoa! Lots of comfort food but with a foodie twist. Great wine list. Incredible service. Can't wait to go back and try another dish and listen to some tunes with friends!"

  • "I very much enjoyed my evening at Louie's Wine Dive. The food was delicious, full of flavor and you could tell every dish was made especially for you. The atmosphere is great, perfect for a romantic dinner or drinks with the girls. It felt trendy and local without being obnoxious."

  • "I discovered Louie's through Open Table and at first I almost passed because of the word "dive", but decided it sounded really interesting. It is a really cool neighborhood restaurant/bar. We went for brunch and it was really good. We were planning to have lunch but brunch worked out well. You'll need to look at their menu on-line. I can't do it justice. Let''s just say it is worth your time to check out this dive."

  • "This was our first visit and I can't wait to go back. Very energetic place! Loved the menu. So many good choices, but I had the nightly special instead. Could use a little larger waiting area by the bar, but otherwise it's a great spot."

  • "We went to Louie's based on an Open Table find. It looked attractive and fun and we were not disappointed. The food was very good, service was great and we would go back again during our next visit to KC. We sat downstairs and the live jazz music was very nice. It was just loud enough to be heard but not overbearing like some live music can be. We were able to have a conversation while enjoying the food, wine, music and each other. We will be back!"

  • "My wife and I had a very nice dinner here on a Saturday night. The room was energetic but not so loud that we couldn't converse, and we did not have to wait to be seated for our reservation. The food was outstanding, including probably the best mussels I've ever had. Excellent selection of wine, including by the glass. Overall just an outstanding place, we'll be back."

  • "Went there for resturant week for a date night. Had a wonderful dinner, spoke to the chef twice as she walked around checking on the tables of customers. The staff was very friendly and helpful with their dinner suggestions. After dinner we went downstairs and had a nice cocktail while listioning to the jazz quartet they had playing that night."

  • "Selecting a place to go on date night with my wife can sometimes be difficult as she has a gluten allergy. However, the menu here was very accommodating, lots of GF items to pick from. The food was excellent, I had the 4 Pork Gnocchi and she had GF Fish & Chips (the first time she's had it since being diagnosed Celiac 4yrs ago). The wine selection suggested by our server was also very good. We'll be coming back again to try the other GF items."

  • "Had a wonderful meal @ the Wine Dive...the Fish & Chips were some of the best I've ever had! Loved the place except for the noise; which if you really wanted to visit with someone it would be very difficult. Noise was our only objection...everything else was outstanding!"

  • "This place has an urban vibe which I love. I had a girls night out Christmas party here for 12 girls. I loved it so much I know have an annual group outing with all of my friends. Also fabulous for brunch! Bottomless mimosas too! This place is energetic and Great for groups. It's upscale trendy but not pretentious. I live the Pinot....."

  • "We went for the bottomless mimosas - only $11!! They have a few different choices: grapefruit, grape, cranberry and original. They are a little more juice than champagne but you get as many as you want so it works out well. Breakfast was really tasty too. I had the shrimp and grits and they were wonderful! Not as authentic as the south but really tasty. Would definitely recommend for a fun brunch with friends."

  • "We were seated right when we got there and then we were forgotten. Our waiter had a lot of tables he was servicing. At one point, we almost got up and left. When he did approach us, I believe he sensed our frustration and the rest of the evening went very smoothly. The food is not you run-of-the-mill menu items and is very good."

  • "The only thing that I have to mention is the noise level. The poor acoustics makes it a challenge to participate in conversation whether it is a romantic scene or group setting. In order to place sound barriers, i realize it may not be conducive to decor let alone expense. Nonetheless thought I'd share what would make Louie's become my "neighborhood gem!" Thanks for great service! I shall return"

  • "My husband and I went to Louie's for my birthday brunch. We both loved our food. I had the special that day - Salmon Benedict and it was delicious! I'm a picky eater and requested that the eggs be scrambled instead of poached and they got the order right and the eggs were cooked "well done" as I had requested. They also have a nice selection of mimosas (orange, cranberry, grape, and grapefruit)! The bottomless mimosas for $11 is a good deal if you plan on having more than one. They are quick to refill them and they're not small. The service was great, very quick and attentive. I definitely recommend making a reservation as they fill up by 12:00. We had a reservation and they sat us immediately, menus already on the table!"

  • "Went for jazz in the basement. it was GREAT, but the shrimp and grits was too salty and the chicken was undercooked. They made it right financially but I was sorry we didn't experience a "foodie" occassion."
