A word from Louie's Italian Restaurant and Bar
Louie's Italian Restaurant & Bar
Celebrates Italian Fare With Neighborhood Appeal
Italian cuisine is known for its depth and variety of flavors, fresh ingredients, and classic comfort. Its diverse appeal, from tastes and textures to styles and regions, make Italian cuisine a family favorite. When Ron Rosa with the new managment introduced Louie's Italian Restaurant & Bar, in 2008, he set out to capture the essence of his favorite Brooklyn neighborhood restaurants from his childhood. This Italian restaurant located in Cos Cob, Connecticut embodies just this; a classic family style Italian restaurant that pays tribute to Rosa's favorite Uncle Louie, for whom the restaurant is named.

I brought a restaurant.com certificate to Louies. They have accepted these in the past without issue and it makes the experience more enjoyable. The hostess claimed she was unable to contact the verification phone number so I would have to come back another time to use the certificate. That's not how it works. I will consider not going back as they do not honor their obligations.

This is a great restaurant that is a known with the locals in town. Two very different eating areas the quieter main dinig room in the back. Very nice with stone walls and then there is the bar scene which has a few tables for dinng more like a grill. Good consistent food.

We live about 10 miles from this restaurant and booked it just for a change of scene while we have some family in town. It was AMAZING. Great cocktails. Wonderful tasting food (recommend the penne a la vodka). Big portions. Great desserts. And above all the staff are attentive and friendly. We try not to frequent the same restaurants twice within a short period of time but we came back within a week.

We sat for 1 hour before our order came out. The waiter came by twice and the manager once to apologize that our order was delayed. We watched other tables that came in after us get served before we did and our orders went in before theirs. At least the manager offered us free dessert for our delayed wait. And the noise level was so great it was difficult to carry on a conversation. The food was good although we had to wait way too long for it.

We had a 7pm reservation for a first date. The host put us in the middle of half a dozen families who were in full throat. When we asked to be moved, he seemed surprised. Then he moved us into the bar, which was just as loud. There was another small room in front of the building which looked more advantageous. He said that room was not "operational." The Italian entrees were very good. We also split an antipasto and a dessert, which were both very good. The server opened strong, but faded during the middle of the meal. She might have had other tables in the main room, but we really did not see her much. When she brought the check, she said "no hurry" but came back at least three times to see if we were ready to pay.

We have been coming to Louie's for years now when we are back in Greenwich, CT. While the food and service are both outstanding my only complaint is that the menu is tired and could use a makeover. The menu hasn't changed in years. The last time we were here was last summer and the specials were also the same. I guess it works for Louie's.

for the price you paid the portions were decent, I had the lamb and the only complaint was that they were tiny bits and not the bigger ones you mainly see in upscale restaurants. There shouldn't be a need for valet parking either, that is just another way to get you for a couple more bucks when you walk out...

My husband and I ate there on August 2nd. We ordered the Louies Antiposto and asked for some lettuce with it and they charged us $10 for the lettuce! My husband had the Chicken Romana for his main course which he said was horrible. The chicken was so tough, that he had a hard time eating any of it. I had the Orecchiette, and it was probably the worst meal I have ever had. The kale in the dish was raw. We will never ever go back to Louie's again.

We have dined at Louie's several times over the past year and we find it is always a very satisfying experience. The bartender makes a great martini and the food is uniformly delicious-steamed mussels were artfully served and my scallops were cooked to perfection. We really enjoy the ambiance of the barroom with white napery on the tables, making it casual with a touch of elegance.

Louie's is owned by the same folks who run Polpo's. This "little sister" restaurant offers the same excellent standard of food but in a much warmer and happier atmosphere. It is a neighborhood gem with one of the classic bars around--carved mahogany bar, leather stools and a brass leg rest--it captures true charm and casual elegance. In addition to the bar room they have a dining room and dining porch--also offering charm and comfort. The menu offers classic appetizers and entrees--caprese salad, eggplant rotini and Italian salad, chicken parmagiana, lamb, salmon. But Louie's also features great specials every night and here is where the kitchen can really shine. We always go to Louie's.

My family chose this restaurant for an early dinner on a special night. The food was good in spite of a lackluster and somewhat condescending waiter. Maybe he was having a bad start (our reservation was at 5:30) but he couldn't provide us with his favorites. He couldn't tell me what kind of pasta the special was served with that evening. Also, the molten chocolate cake was a mini bundt cake with chocolate sauce poured in the center hole not INSIDE the cake. Weird. Anyway, I like the restaurant, so I will give it a try again. Could have been a bad night. It was packed as we were leaving.

Sorry for Louie's that their valet people make such a bad first impression. We were afraid to leave our car and keys. Rightly so. We arrived and the valet was yelling about the previous customer. Shouting and swearing. Then drove our car like a crazy man, fast out of their lot. When we returned end of night they gave us the wrong car!!! and had given out car away 5 minutes earlier to another patron! Fortunately she realized it was not hers as we said this was not ours. Someone had been smoking in our car during the time with the valet service. I would not go there again unless they figure out this situation.

I had been told Louie's was very good but avoided it because I thought it would be noisy as most restaurants are these days. I went New Year's eve for a very early dinner and had requested a warm table away from the bar. I was seated right next to the fireplace which was great! The food was wonderful! I had the lemon sole with a sauce that was so flavorful. My friend had the scampi arrabiata. I don't know what was scampi about it but the hot pepper sauce was to die for. We couldn't stay for dessert, but I will definitely be back to try many things on the menu that were different than most Italian restaurants. They had a different flair to the standards. Prices were usual for the area. This is my new favorite!
