Diner Reviews
  • "The food was delicious, but the service was absolutely horrible. It took the waiter at least ten minutes to come to our table once we were seated. He did not come back for another 20 minutes to take our order. The restaurant was not overly crowded, and we continually saw our server talking to other members of the staff instead of being attentive to our section. When the server did come to our table he was unfriendly and rude. Once he dropped off the bill, it was another 15-20 minutes before he came to pick it up again. I had also mentioned it was my sisters birthday. Most restaurants make some effort to make a birthday celebration memorable, but he made no effort whatsoever."

  • "Consistently good and economical restaurant in downtown Los Gatos."

  • "Overall we had a very good time. The food could have been a bit better. My steak was a bit burnt. The salads we blah! Need more flavor. Service was great. Good for a group."

  • "Perfect place for a birthday lunch with a date, spouse, or close friend. Not noisy, so it's easy for good conversation. Not huge menu, but many excellent selections including appetizers and desserts. But the best thing about LG Brewing is the beer. Brewed on premises, and you can meet the brewer, Kent, when he is working in the brewhouse."

  • "LG Brewing company has established itself as a local favorite--that also can draw folks in from all over the country. It's own beer is always interesting and has enough variety to suit most tastes. The menu changes regularly but includes solid burgers, quasi-Italian dishes, steak/meat staples and creative vegetarian choices. I've rarely been disappointed and often surprised. This time I had the penne & Tuscan-style cauliflower, which was served over pasta with great northern African spice flair. Also tasted the Tunisian chickpea stew, which this night tended more towards soup, but had a wonderful kick of spice. All in all, another pleasant evening of reasonably priced, delectable food washed down with hand-crafted beer."

  • "Have been to LG Brewing Company many times. I don't expect much, but the restaurant does not disappoint either. The place offers a fairly standard menu of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and the like. Would be nice if the menu changed more often or there were more specials. This time, the portions were adequate, but way too many french fries and not enough of the main food attraction. Service was both attentive and not. Took a long time to order, but food came out rather quickly. Beer here can be really good or average--best to taste the beers before ordering or to get a flight. Another highlight of LG Brewing Company is the ease of watching sports from almost everywhere and all the nice shops and the park in close proximity."

  • "Good food, great atmosphere, but don't go for the beer. It's not that exciting but the food makes up for it."

  • "I keep wanting to try some other items on the vegetarian menu but when I come here I always get the Italian Squash pancakes! I've actually come to eat here a few times because of this dish."

  • "The quality of the food as been slowly going down hill over the years. The beer is sometimes hit or miss as the brewer tries different things."

  • "A happy restaurant! The food is good. The beer is innovative and varied. The service is attentive but not intrusive. The staff seems to enjoy being here. The menu is extensive and changes seasonally. Desserts are not a focal point and curiously never have been since it opened. They do have desserts and rotate the menu periodically, but there is rarely something that will make you sit up and bark for it. The burgers are large, delicious and surrounded by good stuff. The menu items tend to be innovative ands some fusion recipes (Thai chicken salad) are quite good. Over the years it has consistently produced a creative menu with appealing items at a moderate price."

  • "Had a great time with friends, celebrating a birthday. Service was great, food was wonderful. The German Chocolate Cake is wonderful.. Would recommend to anyone!"

  • "Brought a friend visiting from out of town and we ordered several "small plates". Some were great (the meatballs and the shrimp" ut others disappointing (thai chicken wraps and shishkabob). But what the food lacked in quality the waiter made up for in service and positive attitude."

  • "Had a reservation, ordered our food and waited one hour to be served. There was a dirty bread plate on the table when we were seated we asked to be removed. Our guests ordered their salads when they came 20 minutes later one guest could barely eat his as it was drenched in dressing and his wife's salad had dirt on the celery stalk. The vegetables/salad weren't washed before they were plated! I ordered a tri-tip sandwich which was delivered with the rest of the orders one hour later and when I asked for extra ketchup for my fries they brought me two small cups that were taken off of another customer's plate!! There was butter all over the side of the cup when I picked it up to put on my plate! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! We'll never go back again!"

  • "Too pricey. Waitress would not honor happy hour price because her clock showed 6:01 , I minute after happy hour but did not inform us after ordering 2nd drink."

  • "We had a great meal once we were seated. They were more than 15 minutes last seating us past our open table reservation, and we had arrived 10 min early. We had a pager that never went off, one of our group went and inquired about the long wait (now 25+ min since we had arrived) and magically our table was ready right at that moment. Would it have been ready if we had asked sooner? So, that was annoying. However, it was a Saturday night and we were enjoying beer at the bar, so not a deal breaker. Once we were seated we had a great server and the bus staff is on-top of it too, never letting water or bread get too low, and cleared plates as soon as they were done. We had a mix of burgers, pasta, sandwiches and small plates - all were good!"

  • "we had a 6:30 reservation, three families with later reservation times were seated before us! we had a 40 minute wait and did not get called to be seated until 7:10! no apologies from anyone, the young lady who seated said "thanks for waiting" as if we had a choice!"

  • "We were in the mood for sausage and dark beer and this was the right place. Made a reservation literally 10 minutes before we got there and they seated us immediately. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the beers and recommended the perfect accompaniment to the spicy sausage. Throw in the lodge-like atmosphere and we could have been buried in snow country even though it was 60 outside."

  • "I go here regularly for lunch. The service is always friendly and efficient. The food is good and reliable. My current favorite is the chicken kabob. The spices are wonderful and it always is cooked to perfection and has a wonderful cucumber and tomato salad to accompany it. They have a delicious garden salad."

  • "Not something that sounds special but the 2 huge Brats are homemade with beer and delicious. The sauerkraut also homemade. Totally delicious for lunch."

  • "My fiance and I have been to Los Gatos Brewing Co. a few times now and every time has been a great experience. The food is consistently amazing- the bread is so soft and the calamari really hits the spot (always ask for extra sauce because it is so damn good!) This past time I used open table to make reservations for us and requested a booth if possible. We got there and it was really busy but still got our booth so THANK YOU Los Gatos Brewing co for that! And, every time we go, our servers are on point and super friendly. We will definitely keep coming back!"

  • "Had an early dinner before going downtown to the theater. Brought our 92 year old Mom so asked for a quiet spot. When we got there I requested a booth (had suggested it on-line) which was readied for us quickly. It was a perfect spot!! Our waitperson was terrific. Two meals were very good. The Thai lettuce wraps---not so good."

  • "The restaurant had no dairy free food. Not even a bun for the hamburger. I ordered the tri tip sandwich and it tasted like it was marinaded in ketchup. Beer was average."

  • "I had a wonderful time at the Los Gatos Brewing Company for my birthday - it was a perfect, casual venue for me to get together with nearly 20 friends! They were very accommodating of our large party, including breaking the bill into smaller checks. I called them a few times to update my reservation (first from 10 to 15, and then from 15 to 18) and it was never an issue. Great food and drinks (even the bread and olive oil dip was delicious)! I will definitely go back."

  • "LG Brewing Company has a established itself as a go-to place in this little town at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The beer is done on site and has got the brewmaster's touch of personality (in names maybe more than taste). Wait staff is almost always pleasant and helpful. The menu has some mainstays and a variety that can accommodate a variety of tastes from burgers to pizza to superb vegetarian dishes and great ribs and other meat dishes. The booths are recommended for a more private experience. The bar is always lively, especially when local sporting teams are featured on screen. Highly recommended as a consistent, reasonably priced restaurant."

  • "My wife and I went there and we weren't starving, so we shared 4 smaller plates/appetizers. They were all very tasty and the waiter was very pleasant and accommodating. Had some drinks that I've only seen at the Los Gatos Brewing Company, so that was nice to get something very different."

  • "My wife and I come here a couple of times a year and it's always good. This time however it was just okay. My wife had Halibut with rissotto and I had ribs. The fish didn't really have much flavor and the rissotto was very starchy -- actually my wife drizzled some of the bread dipper on the fish to add some flavor. The ribs were okay -- probably wouldn't order again. The wine was good and the service was good although our waiter tried joking with us and rather than coming across as charming he came across as obnoxious. We are chalking our experience this time to it being New Years Eve and will give it another try."

  • "Brought the older parents there on Christmas Eve for an early-ish dinner. I wasn't expecting the restaurant to be busy, but it was slammed! Thank goodness we'd made a reservation - they seated us immediately. The noise level was pretty high since they were packed, but it was a happy festive vibe. The crowd definitely had a negative effect on the timing of food, but the quality of the food was excellent. Everyone loved their choices, even if the entrees did arrive halfway through the salad course. The server we had was clearly overwhelmed and not having fun, but he was competent and he gets a lot of leeway since it was Christmas Eve and he was working hard. Overall we had a great time!"

  • "Decent to good burgers and appetizers. For a burger and a beer in a fairly busy/loud environment its a good place. Service was very good. Overall no complaints, but not excellent either."

  • "The over all experience was ok. The service was slow but granted it was a Friday night. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere wasn't bad. We were seated in the very corner of the restaurant and maybe were forgotten about. The server mixed up our order and the steak was not properly cook to order. Average experience!"

  • "One of the first customers on this Saturday and the food was not as good as usual. The fish in the fish & chips was overcooked and service was slower than usual even though there were not that may customers."

  • "A group of us needed a place to eat in Los Gatos before an evening event and picked LGBC based on location, price and varied menu. The food was good -- fish and chips was very tasty, other items (vegetarian cakes, burger) were good. Not so much a highly memorable restaurant as one that was a pleasant place to dine with friends. The service, contrary to other reviewers, was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and prompt without hovering or being in the way. Go back? Sure."
