Diner Reviews
  • "1st time at Los Bacones, the food was very good but the service left a lot to be desired. You would have thought after their first misstep in service, they would have made it a point to improve in the service arena. I would be willing to try Los Balcones one more time as the food was well worth the trip."

  • "I had their signature sangria, which is made with both white and red wine, Pisco sour, and some sort of traditional Peruvian fruit juice. It was really good, with a slight hint of cinnamon. The sweet potato chips are good, but the dip they serve it with is heavy on the onions. For my entree I went with the traditional lomo saltado, done medium rare. It was a straightforward, but amazingly tasty version of this dish. The rice tasted like it had been seasoned, and the fries were not thick-cut like they can be for this dish. And the meat was beyond tender...I could have eaten twice what I had!! Our service was friendly and prompt, and the restaurant - while on the small side - feels open and comfortable. Overall a delicious meal!"

  • "Everything we got was delicious, it's easy to get to, plenty of parking in surrounding streets, reasonable prices and overall a great place. The decor is nice but not pretentious and the staff very friendly. Plenty of people dining there but nice that you don't have to wait weeks for a reservation like some places. Definitely a great place to go if you want to try Peruvian food and are looking for something authentic and nice."

  • "Don't let the seedy Hollywood location, the lack of parking, or the plain exterior fool you. This restaurant serves great authentic Peruvian food at prices more affordable than Picca or Mochica. The complimentary sweet potato chips are a great snack to start the meal. Appetizers including authentic ceviche, causas, and anticuchos will have you wondering if you're dining in Lima or Cusco rather than Hollywood. Main courses have generous portions that will leave you too full for dessert. Servers are attentive and friendly. My only complaint is that the parking situation is a little suspect. No valet, which means you're either parking at 1 hr meters next to homeless people or on questionable dark streets or random parking lots."

  • "Love the food at this place, and the service is very friendly. But sometimes you wonder if they've forgotten you once you sit down. Maybe it's understaffed? It's not a huge room, so there can be a crowd waiting for your table, so be aware of that too! The Causa Trio appetizer is always a welcome starter. The saltados, both pollo and lomo, were a favorite pick in the groups I been with in previous visits. Also the paella-type dish. Don't miss tasting the sangria; cinnamony deliciousness! There was also a pudding type desert that was scrumptious, but I can't remember the name. :( All around, a great choice when in Hollywood."

  • "This is absolutely a neighborhood gem. The food is as great as it was unusual to me. I really enjoyed what I consider a cool chance to taste peruvian cuisine. The pesto salsa sets the stage for a great experience. We had the classic ceviche and tiradiato as apps, both great. we had two great entrees... you cannot go wrong I think. The wines available by the glass went great with the food. All in all a great experience and we will go again."

  • "Really enjoyed this restaurant, would go again. Nice open dining area, modern decor. Drawback is that nothing to absorb the sound; although we were across the room from a large group, noise level was pretty high. The sangria is a little different and very good--had two glasses! The quinoa salad appetize was delicious and beautifully presented. Two in our party had the arroz con marisco-Peruvian paella. They liked it, but said it was more "tomato-y" than paella usually is. I had the picante de mariscos, which had a touch of spice that was very tasty, but not too much. It was was served in a yellow wine sauce which was absolutely fabulous, lick your bowl if you could good. Rice was served on the side. Didn't have dessert."

  • "When we went the first time it was great. We went back for my daughter's birthday and what a disappointment. The service was lousy, it was hot in the restaurant. They we out of their best seller the Pork Chichharron. I was so upset. We had really talked the place up. Dont think we will be back"

  • "What a surprise!, I was looking for restaurants around Arclite Cinema for a quick meal before a movie, and stumbled upon this restaurant. Made a reservation via OpenTable and got there around 9pm. It was fairly busy, good thing I made that reservation! Service was great at the beginning and dwindled down in the middle a bit (no water refills till the very end). Food: Excellent! I ordered the Aji de Gallina which was very well made, no extra cream, perfect quantity of food as well. My date ordered the fish (I can't remember which one), but that was really well cooked and the sauce was perfect. Their Aji sauce (the green spicy one) was not the same as some of the other peruvian restaurants (not spicy at all), but it tasted good. Ove"
