  • "I specifically made reservations for their Easter buffet which was supposed to be going on until ,6pm...we arrived at 4pm and were told that the buffet was picked over and not really worth it...we were told we could order off the menu...the only menu we were able to order from was the happy hour bar menu...We were given comp dessert.."

  • "We went to Loring Kitchen and Bar for what was advertised as their GRAND Easter Brunch buffet - it was quite a disappointment!! For being advertised as a brunch, there weren't very many food choices and they didn't serve pancakes or waffles - COMMON brunch staples. They also ran out of bacon - a BIG brunch staple. Also, at their omelet station you were only allowed 3 ingredients, with cheese included as one ingredient - this meant that you really could only have 2 other ingredients. I have said that I would recommend Loring Kitchen and Bar to a friend, this is based SOLELY on my previous experience at this establishment. IF I had to base it on their Easter Brunch buffet, then I would NOT recommend them. Only plus, our server was great!!"

  • "Went to the Loring Kitchen for the first time and it was Easter brunch. No menu was available, only a buffet which was fine. The problem was the food was good but they were having a hard time keeping up with the volume. There was always one item completly out on the buffet and bacon was never filled in the hour we were there. My daughters love bacon! The food was good when it was available, but we had to keep getting up to see what was available to eat. My guess was they opened the outside seating (it was a buetutiful 70 degree day) and that doubled capacity of people. Don't think the kitchen saw the same weather report. Guess I would try it again on another day."

  • "Seated upstairs where they only had 2 servers for us, and 6+ large tables. Took 10 minutes before either of them even brought us water or acknowledged us. Once the server came he apologized and told us that he had to get an order out to a larger table, that's why he was delayed. Ok fine. But then he rarely checked in, we ordered dinner and drinks immediately since we'd waited so long already. We didn't even get bread for another 15 minutes. Our food was cold by the time we got it... (My boyfriend's calamari tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for about 20 minutes.) when we were finished (had to rush to get to event after) the server brought is ONE CHECK. For a group that was obviously not "together". Ugh, frustrating."

  • "Admittedly, we had a large group with several kids and were the first ones in the restaurant... But our server hadn't had her coffee yet and wasn't up to the task of taking care of us; she disappeared several times - and we had to go in search of someone to help us order more food since our little monsters devoured everything. Long wait for the food even though we had the place to ourselves. Food was good, great location, but not kid-friendly in the least (they have highchairs and kid-sized cups, but no kids menu). Nice place, trendy-foodie-esque, just get a babysitter. :-)"

  • "This was an absolutely amazing brunch experience. They have unique twists on classics and the classics, too. I had a delicious garden veggie burrito. So good. The creamy hashbrowns are out of this world. Oh, and the $10 bottomless mimosa certainly did not hurt. They even have complimentary valet. I felt totally taken care of and ate wonderful food. It was a great experience full of diverse groups of people, including a bridal shower, a group of college kids, and older gentlemen reading the paper. Not noisy or anything. Would definitely recommend and come back!"

  • "We love Loring Kitchen - it's our go to. Always fabulous food and great atmosphere. Unfortunately, our last dining experience was a bit of a let down. It started with another restaurant employee telling us it was happy hour, giving us the menus, ordering from the menu when our server finally arrived and after she put in our first round, told us that it actually wasn't even happy hour. We waited unusually long to get drinks (if we ever got them), order food, or even see our server. I even had to go to the bar to order our next round of drinks because we hadn't seen our server in over a half hour. This same night, they were also out of ALL pizza, calamari and a dessert. We know how great Loring Kitchen can be. Hope they can figure it out."

  • "The single reason that we went to the Loring Kitchen was for the GF pasta. After we ordered we were told that they were out. The only thing our server did was apologize. No manager follow-up at all. No alternative GF menu options given either. Leaving hungry we wound up going elsewhere for more food. GF fail. If you are looking for GF, go to Eliy's. Its practically around the corner. They do it way better."

  • "Free valet, incredibly friendly folks at hostess stand, & our server (Finn?) was terrific (my teen daughter was still talking about him the next day). Daughter and I were headed to the theater afterwards, & everything came out quickly, but never felt rushed. House music a huge hit for both if us. Very cool vibe, but not pretentious. Every group looked at home there -- hip dating couples, seniors out on the town, families enjoying dinner, singles at the bar. And the food was great! Wines by the glass had a great selection, which isn't always the case. As we left, my daughter proclaimed it a success, and asked that we go back again soon. We will -- probably when the weather warms up and we can walk in the lovely park across the street!"

  • "We took out of town guests considering a move to the Twin Cities to this usually charming spot to try to convince them how urban and cool we are here. The reservation was for four - they gave us 3 place settings, then when we ordered proceeded to tell us that half the stuff on the menu wasn't really available - something about a new menu starting next week. okay. The food was okay. Fried chicken served with waffles? huh? Nothing for the vegan except deep fried black bean fritters - which were good. This restaurant should do better - it is a beautiful place with great views of Loring Park and outdoor dining in the summer. Someone there seems tired."

  • "We were all very pleased with everything we had. Ceasar salad was crisp and perfeclty dressed, anchovies were so salty and FRESH. Beet salad is also recomended. Calamari was so lighlty breaded, it just melted in your mouht. Walleye was excellant and Mushroom Pizza was perfect. I will come back. Got a little noisy, but it will be nice to sit outside if summer ever arrives. Ambiance was nice as well. Just nice and cozy. Prices were not too high either for this calibur of restaurant food."

  • "I've been to Loring Kitchen for dinner and happy hour several times and really enjoyed the food and experience. I decided to try brunch and was very disappointed in the experience. After asking the server for advice on the menu, my husband's meal was brought out with mine and was completely burnt. It took several minutes for us to flag someone down to ask for a replacement, at which point no one apologized for serving us burnt food. In addition, the meal was not at all what our server described. The only upside was that the manager comped our bill for one of the meals after we told her about the burnt pancakes. Overall, this was a surprising let-down for what was supposed to be a nice brunch."

  • "My husband and I had a rare night out on the town without our children. We like to try places we have never been. Loring Kitchen and Bar was fabulous!!! The food was phenomenal!!! I had the gnocchi and my husband had the special, which was house made pasta with king crab and scallops. The dessert was even better, we had the fruit torte. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal! The service was top notch!!! She was very attentive and very helpful and knowledgeable with the menu. I would go back in a heart beat!!!!"

  • "Last Sunday was my second time in a month visiting Loring Kitchen for brunch. Both times amazing food and service. The first time we did not have a reservation, and waited 45 minutes to be seated (our fault). I wised up the second time and made a reservation online the day before. Thank goodness I did because when we arrived I heard the hostess over the phone tell someone they are no longer taking reservations for the day... I had the biscuits and gravy, and my mother ordered the crab cakes benedict. We were both super impressed by the food."

  • "Although my wife and I have eaten here a number of times with no complaints, this was the first time for the Sunday noon brunch and the first time with our two grandgirls (4.5 & 6). The place was packed, but our reservation was available on time. Our waitress Sarah was excellent but there was no kid menu and the waitress allowed us to split a meal between the two kids. The long wait for food was hard on the girls, but not unexpected due to the crowd. We will return but w/o the kids and probably not for brunch. We fully realize that the girls were probably the only little ones there and my wife and I were substantially older than the crowd. We were the odd ones out."

  • "We are from out of town and this place was recommended by a local friend. We stayed downtown and it was a little out of the way but it was worth the trip. We split some appetizers and an order of mussels and we were very pleased with everything. The original cocktails were also very nice. Our server, Sara, was most helpful, a real professional. I would have rated the service as outstanding but we stayed at the bar for a drink and the bartender did not quite live up to the Sara's standards. He was short with us as we were picking out a drink and seemed to be bothered by our questions. Nevertheless, the experience was great and, since we dined during happy hour, very reasonably priced."

  • "The atmosphere here was lovely and the server went out of his way to accommodate us. We came for a late date (10:30pm). I was disappointed to find out that only the happy hour menu was available, the Open Table site did not make that clear, neither did the restaurant site. There was one dish left from dinner menu - rigatoni. Unfortunately, the chicken was extremely dried out by then. The pasta and sauce were tasty however. My husband had a burger and enjoyed it - huge bun but not as huge a burger. Lovely atmosphere, we sat on the porch and looked out at the lights and the park beyond. I would go back during the dinner hour to try the menu then."

  • "Walking to this neighborhood cafe was a perfect destination on a snowy evening. We enjoyed happy hour well priced martinis and tasty sweet potato fries. The black bean fritters appetizer was flavorless and solid inside rather than spongy like fritters. The pan roasted salmon was nicely done with a beurre blanc sauce served with crispy green beans and thick slices of German potato salad. The pan roasted chicken included three nice pieces of meat in a wine and mushroom sauce along with crispy green beans and mashed potatoes. Good service and attentive waitress. We enjoyed a romantic evening sipping our wine and enjoying the cascading lights hanging in the trees overlooking Loring Park."

  • "Everything is good here except the food. We have eaten LK&B at least a half dozen times, returning largely because of the location and with hopes that the food will improve. Dinner this week was likely our last effort. The food is bland and uncreative; my pasta was overcooked, then doused in a prepared sauce. Our kids ordered the pizzas, which were just OK. It isn't even good bar food, and the restaurant aspires to be more than this. It's too bad, because aesthetically the restaurant is terrific and it's hard to beat the location overlooking Loring Park."

  • "We had a good meal and great service, but had to change tables due to the extraordinary noise from one table. We were originally seated on the patio, which was great, but another table was unbelievably loud. I am sure is no problem when the patio is open, but during the winter, it really was a problem. The wait staff was accommodating to our concerns. Our breakfast were very good, but did not have that particular memorable component or experience. Having said that we have very high standards."
