Diner Reviews
  • "I went to loring kitchen for brunch with a friend. We sat down and ordered our drinks and food right away. We both ordered sandwiches with no modifications. After sitting there for 45 minutes and no food. We asked to speak to a manager. Then our server appeared and said our food would be out any minute. 10 minutes later, no food. We asked another buss-boy to find us the manager. We were both very hungry and upset. It was apporching 2:00 when they stopped serving brunch and the resturant was clearing out. We had been there for more than an hour with no food and no manager to ask what was going on, we walked out. I have never left anywhere without paying so we went up to the bar and told the bartender that we were leaving. Very bad service"

  • "Perfect for summer dining, with two options for outdoor seating, and also tables just inside but in front of large open window/doors. The food for lunch was good. The service was inattentive- mixed up an order, wanted to bring the check before asking about desert or coffee. It was not crowded at the time."

  • "The Loring provides you outdoor experience on a summer night while sitting inside the restaurant with it's open doors arrangement. We enjoyed the sun set and a light breeze from our table. The place was bustling so service was a little slow, but efficient when the waitress arrived. Our steak salad was nicely done, meat cooked to our liking and light dressing on crisp salad greens tasty. The delicious moist carrot cake topped off the meal."

  • "Expected something a little better. Service was fair. The wait staff had to keep checking with the kitchen to answer our menu questions. The drinks were very very weak and almost seemed watered down, that includes the martini!. The food was blah and the gluten free pizza had a nice crust but was nothing special. There were hardly any toppings on it. I probably not recommend this restaurant, which is really too bad since I had looked forward to going here."

  • "I have been to the Loring Kitchen a few times now during various times of the day. The service has always been top notch! The food is delicious and you can't go wrong with a bottomless Mimosa for brunch. It's a fabulous neighborhood establishment which I would highly recommend!"

  • "I believe the food has gone south here since the new chef started. The location and atmosphere is GREAT! The food needs work!"

  • "Fresh food, fish dishes fantastically prepared. Raspberry salad crisp and large, big enough to share. Service not great. Took way too long to even be acknowledged. Forgot a salad, sat around waiting for bill. I'd still recommend as it's great space and food amazing."

  • "I regularly go to Loring Kitchen and it's one of my favorite spots. They always have great food with very reasonable prices. The service is very good and they will try their best to accommodate your needs."

  • "We made a reservation because we thought it would be busy on Sundays. We got seated right away and the restaurant was half full. It took over 10 minutes for someone to bring us water and after another 15 minutes waiting for our server we walked out. I have been to the Loring several times and it has never had exceptionally great service but good brunch, but after this event I won't be returning."

  • "The food was horrible. The appetizer and both meals were poor. It is a shame because the atmosphere (outside) was spectacular. Will not go back."

  • "The service was terrible. When the waiter asked me if I wanted more club soda, I said no, and he took the club soda that I was drinking away from me and away. He wasn't evening listening. I would never ever ever go back to this place. Poor service and very mediocre food. Sorry, it's Eli's from now on."

  • "We went here for our anniversary and were very pleased with the service, atmosphere, and food. We ordered a bottle of wine, but it had gone bad, so we asked if we could send it back and order something else. They were very accommodating and didn't make us feel awkward for doing that. The food was very delicious, and after dinner they brought over free surprise dessert because it was our anniversary! We'll definitely be back."

  • "We normally go for happy hour, but we've done brunch twice now. The food is fantastic (especially the pancakes for brunch - the Mac and cheese for happy hour) and the service is always top notch."

  • "Management staff needs to lose the attitude, there are many find eating establishments in town and there are many restaurants that would love to take me Sunday Brunch business. Food was fine, service took 50 minutes which the management staff find acceptable when mentioned to them. Comped drinks and provided a small token in a gift card. I will think twice about returning even with the gift card."

  • "I absolutely loved having brunch at Loring Park Kitchen & Bar!! The bottomless mimosas were tasty and readily refilled by the friendly staff. I had the steak and eggs with hash browns and it was AMAZING! Steak was perfectly cooked and the hash browns melted in my mouth. I had my eggs scrambled and they perfectly fluffy and cooked well. I don't normally "do brunch" but this was hands-down, one of the best brunches I had ever had!"

  • "First time at the Loring Kitchen, and I will be back. Had the house red wine, which was delicious. Also had a fabulous pizza - so good I almost ordered another one. The server really knew the menu and the food ingredients, as my companion has a limited diet. The patio was very nice on a warm June evening. The only down side is that we ordered bread before dinner that never came. "

  • "Our party of 3 enjoyed "Happy Hour" cocktails followed by dinner on the patio. All 3 of us were impressed by the service, food and drinks. The patio overlooks Loring park and is a pleasant alternative to the nearby downtown "scene"."

  • "Great atmosphere. Good coffee. Deliciously prepared meal. The HUEVOS RANCHEROS BENEDICT was excellent. The proportions on the bottomless mimosa were off - mostly OJ, very little champagne. "

  • "If you order the egg sandwich described as coming on a biscuit, it may come on a floppy, soggy croissant. "Oh", says the server, "they must have run out of biscuits". This was very early in the day. Disappointing. Other details of friend's dishes could not be described by wait staff. "They spelled the type of cheese wrong on the menu." We had no idea what that was."

  • "Went for brunch at 12:15 and got seated right away. Took a while for our server to stop by, and then at least 10 minutes for half our drink order to arrive, and then another 10 min. for the 2 Bloody Marys to come. We finally got to order, and the cinnamon roll came - very good, warm and gooey. But then we waited. The dining room was starting to clear out, and still no food. Couldn't find our waitress; finally flagged down a bus boy and asked to have our waitress stop by. She did, and we asked where our order was and she checked on it saying that because they were so busy the kitchen got behind. Our order finally came out around 1:35! Food was very good. Waitress comped all the beverages. Will try again, but with more time! "

  • "there was a large group in for a wedding, with a lot of noise. Our waitress kindly offered to move us to a quieter table. That was great but we had to move twice more for other reasons. Ok, because each time we got a better table. the manage gave us free drinks for the inconvenince which was a nice gesture."

  • "Terrible experience for a graduation celebration brunch on Sunday. After 45 min passed after placing our order - noticed NOBODY had been served in the entire area where we were sitting. I specifically asked if there was a problem in the kitchen. Servers must have been coached to not really let on the extent of the problem. To the credit of the manger - he did pass out $10 gift cards to all people waiting. One hour and 15 min later, after much pressure on staff so we could make it to our daughter's graduation ceremony at the U, we were served. The good was NOT good, however...daugher sent her eggs back and got the same mis-order a second time, so we just gave up, paid our bill and left. "

  • "The neighborhood looks like a bunch of apartment buildings surrounding a park. The area was amazing. The food was wonderful, service was a little slow but they were pretty packed. The bottomless mimosas were great! I will definitely be going back!"

  • "Great location right across from Loring Park. Extensive and inventive cocktail menu...the Big Pink, the Johnny Langhorn, the Abigail... Really good food! Crab Cakes, Scallops, Walleye, Ribeye...delicious. No dessert menu? Oh, have another drink."

  • "I dined at Loring Kitchen and Bar for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. I was tempted by their online menu stating bottomless mimosas for $10 and was not disappointed! The mimosas come in a large glass and servers frequently come by to refill drinks (no waiting with an empty glass!). As for food, my friend got the waffle of the weekend and I ordered the garden burrito - both were great and reasonably priced. Service was friendly all-around and someone even brought my dog a water bowl - thanks!! Dog-friendly patio, yummy food, and mimosas - I will definitely be back. "

  • "Definitely. Their Jumbo Crab Benedict is awesome! The staff there are always friendly and accommodating. It's a great place to take family visiting the city that may not be too comfortable driving in downtown. It's located in a great neighborhood with the best view of Loring Park you can get! "

  • "We were there as a party of 4 plus toddler. They did a nice job of seating us right away and had a high chair for us. Ambiance was great and food was even better. I had the pesto papperadelle. The server recommended adding steak which was a great addition. We will definitely go there again... maybe for brunch."

  • "The food was very good although we were not aware that the menu was only brunch and a set price per person until the bill arrived. We do not normally pay $100 for two people for brunch. We will return to order from the regular menu."

  • "we had a party of 10 (including 4 children) We had a great brunch but it was a bit tight to move around to and from the buffet…We would still go back here…the food was great and everyone liked it from 2-70 years old…! They had a great outdoor area..."

  • "Loring kitchen is a consistently great place to go. The food is always good, the people super friendly. Last weekend we had the mussels and both agreed that they were the best we've ever had. And we've had mussels all over this country and others. No pretensions in this place. Just a welcoming atmosphere with consistent quality."

  • "I really dislike getting rushed when I'm out for diner and Saturday nights are notorious for such pressures. Unfortunately, LK&B would rather amp up the number of seats filled than caring for their patrons. That being said, the Stuffed Chicken was delicious as were the Jumbo Scallops. PS the Pear Raspberry salad doesn't come with pears. In spite of the weather getting a bit warmer it is still cold enough to keep the patio doors closed. Having them open took not only the heat but the enjoyment of the dinner away. "

  • "Hope this is just a transition time due to a new chef. We liked the old menu, including the various yummy sliders (especially the crabcake) and sides (especially the sweet potato fries.) Used to be a good beet salad. Very limited fish/seafood selections now. Service was pleasant. Generous-sized green salads. Will try again in a month or so and hope the menu is more extensive & interesting."

  • "We had calamari and wings as appetizers--both were amazing and presented very well. The drinks and wine were presented in a classy way and were very good. The menu is simple and limited yet everyone found something to enjoy. The walleye and risotto were very tasty. My kids had the lobster mac and cheese and loved it! The waiter was very attentive. We will definitely return."

  • "My sisters and I enjoyed brunch at Loring Kitchen and Bar. The service was great, the atmosphere was bustling, and we appreciated all of the windows since it was a sunny, blue sky kind of day. The caramel role and the corn pancakes were great. The huevos rancheros wrap was good but shouldn't have had hash browns inside since there was so much bread already with the wrap (perhaps the hash browns could go on the side so they would be optional to eat, not required).
