A word from Lorenzo's Trattoria
Lorenzo’s features Northern Italian fare with a touch of contemporary flavor. Look to our menu for some of the classics as well as some modern Italian cuisine less prevalent on The Hill. Look forward to experiencing the authentic house-made gnocchi and risottos; or our signature dish, braised Osso Buco; our guests' ever favorite, Chicken Spedini; or a couple of the staff favorites, the Poached Alaskan Halibut or Fabulous Veal Picatta.

At Lorenzo's the atmosphere is classy and laid-back. It is the type of restaurant where you can have a nice business dinner or enjoy a meal with the family.

We offer two beautiful private rooms, The Boardroom, which seats up to 14 or The Chefs Table which seats up to 8. You may choose to enjoy our patio on a beautiful day and savor one of the great Italian wines off our extensive wine menu. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable no matter what meal or day you visit. We look forward to showing you all we can offer at Lorenzo's Trattoria.

Diner Reviews
  • "We love your ambiance and the pictures of Venice and various other Italian places. The main thing for me when there is more than 4 people, is to have a round table so that all 6 of us can really talk. We were able to get one and it made our evening wonderful for all to catch up. Everyone enjoyed their meal and one couple had not been there before."

  • "This wasn't our first experience at Lorenzo's, but it was one of the best! They gave us a private room in the kitchen that was perfect for the 6 of us. It was quiet so we could all catch up without disturbing people around us. The food was incredible. I enjoyed gnocchi that was cooked to perfection. The sauce was a combination of cheeses that was not overly rich. Another in our party had a pork osso bucco that fell from the bone. We enjoyed 2 wonderful wines, an amaroni and a cabernet that we chose with the help of one of the wait staff. The choices were perfect for everyone. We will definitely be back to enjoy another dinner there. I highly recommend reserving the private room if you have 6-8 in your party."

  • "What a lovely experience we had at Lorenzo's! It was our daughter's 20th birthday and we had an excellent dinner. Highlights of the meal were the homemade spinach gnocchi (the lightest I've ever had) and the mushroom ravioli. We had mentioned her birthday on our OpenTable reservation and our request for something special was honored with a delicious dessert with birthday candle. Thank you for all the attention to detail. We will definitely return."

  • "Lorenzo's never fails to provide an outstanding evening! Best bruschetta in town, fabulous entrees and pasta. The staff is always super friendly and helpful!"

  • "Food was good, but not great. Salad soggy. Salad served before appetizer."

  • "Everyone from start to finish was attentive and friendly. We have been here several times and the wait staff we had before stopped by to say hello and thank us for coming in. The food is equally great. We each had a dinner salad. My wife had the chicken spedini. I had the veal and risoto and a friend had the salmon with totelini. We shared a piece of dreamsciile cheesecake. I wished I had ordered a cheesecake of my own. It was all wonderful. The ambience is casual, yet upscale and a great place for just for dinner or a special night out. I highly recommend it."

  • "I love the ambiance of The Hill. As an out of towner, the restaurants aren't great but certainly good. Lorenzo's is one of the better Hill options. Nice interior and good servers. The food is good too (not over the top great, but really good). Service was very good, knowledgable and food was served in reasonable length of time. Open Table made a last minute decision very easy."

  • "We were sent to Lorenzo's by a waitress at a breakfast spot in Soulard on our first visit to St. Louis in 2005. We have returned each time and have not been disappointed. Great pasta dishes and consistent quality Northern Italian. It does not get the publicity of other restaurants on the Hill, but gets great reviews from locals. Service is a bit stiff for a town that has the friendliest service in the U.S."

  • "We've been to Lorenzo's three times now - this was the first time on a Sunday. They do a great job with fish. This time we had a Snapper special. We also got the eggplant and kalamata olive penne pasta, which was absolutely excellent. They split the house salad for us and brought our daughter a Shirley Temple with lots of cherries and a couple of refills. She had a pepperoni pizza, which she liked, although it had a lot of outer crust. Service (Joe) could not have been better. Our only complaint was it was a bit loud, something we had noticed before. Still a nice restaurant for an occasion or date night, just that the volume makes it a bit less romantic."

  • "Lorenzo's has become my wife's and my favorite restaurant. We know we can always count on great food and great service. We have had a different waiter each time we have eaten here, and the service has always been outstanding. We will continue to highly recommend, and most importantly, return ourselves."

  • "We were visiting St. Louis and heard rave reviews about most of the restaurants on the Hill. The simple but sophisticated menu drew us to Lorenzo's and it didn't disappoint. The service was wonderful (they even called us a cab) along with the wine list. We ordered house salads, spaghetti bolognese and angel hair with tomatoes and basil all of which were delectable. Will definitely recommend!"

  • "This is the 6th or 7th time we have eaten at Lorenzo's.We had a special birthday dinner for on of my sons. The food was excellent, the surroundings were great, we met lots of nice people from out of town. It was a good night!"

  • "The service was outstanding. Even though I thought the entree selection was a little heavy w/ the risotto there was still much to choose from. We enjoyed our meal and experience at Lorenzo's."

  • "We were visiting St. Louis for President's day weekend and friends had recommended eating on "The Hill". Despite the icy sidewalks we skated our way into this true neighborhood gem. The offerings were broad and pleasing and they were able to accommodate our 14 year old's picky dining habits. There is a lovely wine room in the back for groups. We would recommend this and go again upon returning to St. Louis."

  • "Had a great Valentines Day dinner at Lorenzo's. We had reservations for 8PM and were seated on time. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Ordered the grilled salmon and chicken speidini, Both were outstanding. Homemade canoli for desert and coffee topped off a wonderful dinner. Atmosphere is casual and busy. There were a couple large parties waiting for tables at the extensive, wrap around bar, but once they were seated things calmed down. Tables are close together and restaurant is well lighted, so not really a "romantic" place. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a casual, reasonably priced Italian restaurant that serves great food with good service in the heart of the Hill neighborhood of St. Louis."

  • "The lobster ravioli appetizers were among the best I've ever had. The ossobuco was rich and tender, a must try. The fish in the seafood linguine was the star. Perfect meal for Valentine's Day. Thanks!"

  • "Lorenzo's is a great reflection of Italian restaurants in the Hill section of St. Louis. Great menu selection, great list of affordable wines, very attentive but not smothrting dervice, great attention to detail, and great taste in the nicely presented menu selections. Great place for dinner and those special romantic occasions."

  • "Enjoyed a lovely dinner recently at Lorenzo's. Our jackets were taken to the coat room as we were seated. Food was delicious and service was efficient. Would come back again! Only tip is, make sure you make a reservation!"

  • "At least one wine, merlot, can't be ordered by the glass if a bottle has to be opened. The not really adequate explanation for this wackiness is that the waiter had to be assured he could " sell the whole bottle". So...don't offer Merlot by the glass in the wine list. Anyway. Aside from the wine kerfuffle, we had a lovely family dinner."

  • "We really enjoyed the meal and the large tables for groups. The food, wine and desserts were awesome and very memorable. However, if you are looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, Lorenzo's is probably not the place, at least in the 5:30-8:00 PM window....very, very loud and lots going on with folks who brought kids, etc. We were with a large group so it was good...we were loud as well! Would definately come back!"

  • "We were seated quickly and everyone was helpful. The bus boys and servers were too attentive. We would take one sip of water and they would rush to fill our water glasses. They cleared dishes and interrupted our conversation several times. They cleared my brother in laws paler before he was finished. They took my plate and I said I wasn't even done. We felt rushed and we were there for one hour."

  • "I booked this table for dinner on a Sunday night for some out of town guests. There were 7 of us, and this was my first time at Lorenzo's, so, you know how it is when its your first time at a restaurant and you are entertaining guests. It could not have been any more perfect. The service was great, the staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was amazing. Some of us had the famous Osso Buco, and, it was just outstanding. Other entree's included the veal risotto, gnocchi, and a beef entrée. They were all very good. My guests continued praising the restaurant and how good it was even several days after we left. I will be back again for sure, I think its the best place on the hill."

  • "Lorenzo's is my family's favorite spot on the Hill. Consistently great food and service. While the wine list is not lot large there are plenty of affordable, food-friendly wines to choose from. I highly recommend it."

  • "This is a consistently good restaurant. The food is always great, the prices are very reasonable and the service is impeccable. Thanks to Fudge, Elaine, Shay and all our past servers for our wonderful experiences. This is our go to restaurant for Italian out!"

  • "Great food and service. The ambiance was a bit lacking in the restaurant but it seemed like there were a couple different large parties that were having a great time."

  • "We chose Lorenzo's as we had the Italian side of our family visiting from out of town and it is in tradition that we have dinner on The Hil.... I booked our reservation online and noted that we would like to request a quiet area as my dad has difficulty hearing. The staff so kindly placed us in "The Chef's Table," a little dining area directly in the kitchen. Lorenzo's surpassed my expectations for the evening and made our visit with family memorable!"

  • "Staff was very kind and courteous. Atmosphere felt nice and pleasant. Interior wasn't overdone in the sense of being too dimly lit or bright as day. There was just the right amount of light. Menu was not over complicated. It was simple and straightforward but still elegant in the style of dishes offered."

  • "Went there for my husbands birthday and the Food was very good but we were rushed through dinner. We wanted to enjoy a relaxing dinner but salads wee brought out immediately after ordering and we were asked if We were finished when half the salads were still on our plates. Same with our dinner, so the ambiance wasn't what we hoped but we did like the food!"

  • "Not my favorite Italian restaurant in St. Louis. I had a seafood linguine that was good, but not spectacular. I would like to give this place another try, however. Service was great and the atmosphere inviting."

  • "The server was friendly and efficient. Everyone enjoyed their food. I was a disappointed with the risotto with veal and cremini mushrooms. The consistency was sticky and there was very little veal or mushrooms to be found. My tablemats enjoyed their pasta and ravioli,"

  • "Once again, we were very happy with our choice of restaurants. Osso Buco and gnocchi were huge hits, but the star of the night for me was the red snapper special. I can't recall what was in the sauce, but it was sweet, which is something I've never had paired with fish. What an amazing taste! The side of mashed potatoes had bits of kalamata olives in them--again, I've not had that before and I scarfed them down. I passed around samples to three people at the table and they all remarked how delicious the dish was. I wanted to tell the chef personally, but it was a very busy night. This restaurant is one of the best in St. Louis."
