A word from L'Orcio
L'Orcio is an upscale dining establishment serving Contemporary Italian Cuisine. In house made specialty pastas like Gnocchi, Papparedelle and Eggplant Ravioli are only part of the L'Orcio experience. Chef d'Amuri, an Italian native, also works his magic grilling whole fish and juicy steaks and offers a variety of meat and fish dishes daily. Desserts like Tiramisu', Charlotte agli Amaretti and Lemon Tart are also prepared in house. A relaxing and elegant ambiance with a European flare is the perfect backdrop for lunch, dinner or spirits. Located in a refurbished historical home the restaurant offers three unique spaces for their guests. Whether you're having a cocktail at the handsome bar, an intimate dinner in the elegant dining room or Appetizers with friends under the Wysteria covered Pergola in the courtyard all of your senses are sure to be pleased. Family owned and operated with an eye for detail L'Orcio has a lot to offer. Come in for a meal, a drink or just to say "Ciao."Continued

  • "Experience, food and service all very strong. I'd recommend the restaurant and come back."

  • "Once again we enjoyed a delicious meal. This was our third visit and each time it gets better. We have dined both inside and outdoors, enjoyed both. The salmon was fabulous and my husband had the lamb chops and said they were perfect. I can't wait to return and highly recommend L'Orcio."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at L'Orcio and I highly recommend this neighborhood restaurant offering fabulous Italian (not red sauce Italian mind you) food. The outdoor patio is very special and extremely pleasant on most summer evenings. I had the lobster ravioli which was packed with lobster. Great special selection list. Everyone in our party cleared their plate. Desserts are also greatl, the best tiramisu on the planet. When we don't sit on the patio, we like to eat at the bar, cozy but nice."

  • "Food was mediocre at best. Service was terrible. I had really high expectations for this restaurant and was mightly disappointed. Liked the bartender though! And the outdoor patio was really pretty. Goodfellas down the road has much better food."

  • "From the tomato sauce to the excellent veal every dish at L'Orcio was a treat to the pallet. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Anything on the menu is a good choice. Enjoy."

  • "Nice Italian restaurant near downtown New Haven. Menu is limited to their specialties."

  • "Good food as usual, not too many exciting choices but everything is very good. Branzino special was very good. Place was almost annoyingly loud on this particular night, very hard to have a conversation at our table for 4."

  • "This was our first time at L'Orchio. Relatively easy to get to, and on-the-street parking was available. Although dinning on the patio was available, we ate inside. I would say the inside decor, etc., is a little on the warn side, but the food was spectacular. Our server, Julie, was friendly and very competent. We like to take our time, and she didn't rush us. We had salad caprese and two veal dishes- saltemboco and scalapine. Both excellently prepared and delicious. If you like beautifully prepared Italian food, you will love L'Orchio!"

  • "We came for my wife's birthday with my son and daughter-in-law and had a tremendous meal. Plenty of things to choose from and we all had something different, but nobody had "order envy"...we were thrilled with what we ordered. Beautiful weather so the Courtyard was magnificent. My daughter-in-law pronounced L'Orcio as her favorite restaurant in Ct. Great job and can't wait to return!"

  • "We were just driving through New Haven on our way to Stamford and wanted a nice Italian meal. We never would have found this place without it being included in Opentable but what a gem. We sat out back on their patio - the weather was stunning. We hope that we didn't bother our fellow diners with all the oohhh's and aaahhh's we were making about their gnocchi. Absolutely delicious - we talked about it for days afterwards."

  • "Traditional Italian meets creative Italian Staff is friendly the garden is lovely"
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "Had an wonderful dinner at L'Orcio, dining in what they refer to as "the garden" in the rear of the restaurant. Lovely, quiet meal under the vine-covered pergola. Food, service, pacing all excellent. They were very accomodating to my 94 year old mother-in-law - the garden is actually more accessible than the indoor part of the restaurant which requires going up two fairly steep steps. The garden can be accessed through a gate on the side of the building with no steps at all. Staff was very welcoming and friendly; food creative, delicious and (for this kind of quality) very reasonably priced. Everything a restaurant should be."

  • "As usual we had a great meal and ther service was outstanidng as well. all four of our parties apps were great as were the entrees and desserts and coffee. Also, we spilled a glass of red wine and before we could ask our waitress was helping to clean up, got us a glass od seltzer water and a napkin while another waiter got more napkins and a new chair....what fast efficient teamwork!!"

  • "I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. It is only open for lunch on Friday's but well worth the wait. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff was attentive but best of all the food was amazingly good. Very authentic Italian cousine."

  • "Thus is a long established and hugely authentic Italian place with a reputation for pasta, mostly made in-house. All true. But what bowled me over was the impeccable service and the utterly I rushed pAce of things. The interior spaces are calm if a little plain and the outdoor dining looked lovely. Overall I fussy and unpretentious in the best possible way. The menu is interesting rather than predictable and the food is the same. Only quibble is that the a/c is a bit fierce. Lovely bar. "

  • "My husband and I picked this restaurant from its website. We went to the theatre and wanted to try a restaurant in the New Haven area. We were pleasantly surprised and glad we picked L'Orcio. We shared the crostini appetizer that had three different toppings of pate ... all were terrific! I highly recommend the pappardelle with pulled chicken! We will definitely visit again."

  • "We were there to celebrate a special occasion. The food was first rate with very good service. The only issue was they forgot one appetizer and brought another late, seconds before the the entrees were served. Not a deal breaker and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "Food was disgusting. On arrival they gave us the wrong specials menu and didn't realize until AFTER we ordered. We then had to reorder. Food was horrible. Staff inexperienced. Would not go again. Don't know how it was rated best of CT!"

  • "The cocktail was a great start. It was followed by a selection of entrees, which my husband and I share along with delicious bread and olive oil. As for main dishes, I highly recommend the mushroom toreitini. It was very good. I loved blood orange sorbet for dessert. With coffee, it was an ideal lunch."

  • "Very small Caesar salad of poor quality, no better than you would find in a freezer case at a deli: $10 8:45 reservation at a not-full restaurant: did not receive food until 10 p.m. Entrees were very small and not well cooked for their prices. Server continually jostled and reached across a diner in the party, making her uncomfortable. Despite not being full, restaurant was very noisy."
    Dined on 5/19/2014
  • "Other than a noisy crowd, the restaurant always excels. Top level dishes from a creative Italian chef. We enjoy every dish whenever we come here, from apps to desert. Our favorite amongst the New Haven Italian choices. Two Italians on a dining high. "

  • "I ordered the Sea Bass dinner. It was cooked to perfection. I loved the combination of the fish with thinly sliced potatoes and cherry tomatoes. I would order it again."

  • "Was looking for great pasta, and it was less than average. My husbands fish was excellent as was the salad. Lemon tart was less than average but wine was good and a healthy full glass. "

  • "We went to L'orcio for Mothers Day and because of a show we attended we had a later reservation. The staff and chef spared nothing to provide us with the best night possible. They were kind & considerate and treated us like royalty despite the time. Excellent food and service, this would be a treat for anyone. "

  • "Visited on the recommendation of our student at Yale. Food was nothing short of outstanding, sardine salad a great find. Service a bit slow, but very pleasant and knowledgeable. Wine list was well-seLected and fairly priced. Call for suggestions on where to park - not really a problem, but restaurant is in a converted city house, in a busy NH neighborhood area with quite a few restaurants and small businesses. "

  • "I was excited to try the homemade raviolis, very disappointed. They were no better than frozen bought ones. Seeing you do not get that many raviolis and nothing else is served with the entree, I have to say I left there hungary, and I am small person.very very disappointed Once our food was served the waiter never came back to the table to check on us.also took very long to order our dinner. So many good restaurants around there will not go back."

  • "My family was visiting from out of town and we wanted a great place to eat that would satisfy the "foodies" in our group but would also accommodate three young boys (read: "picky eaters"). L'Orico was perfect and Chris, our server, was terrific. He was happy to work with us and the kitchen to create less "gourmet" and more "kid-friendly" foods (e.g., pizzas) for the boys. Great dining experience! "

  • "L'Orcio is in the East Rock neighborhood of New Haven, fortunately not far from our home. The food is about the best Italian in the city. The patio dining in the summer is very quiet and romantic, seated under a canopy of vines and well planted. Never would think you were in the middle of a city. The staff is always friendly and efficient. Have the veal saltimbocca or the ragu with homemade noodles."
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • "L'Orcio serves fabulous Italian regional cuisine, does not skimp on quality, has a patio in the back open in warmer weather, and a good bar. This is not Italian-American food, a cuisine one can find elsewhere in New Haven in abundance."
