Lopez Southwest KitchenAlways reliable!My husband and I were there for my birthday and had a delicious meal. I had been there many times but it was a first for him. It's not your typical Mexican food and it's always flavorful. The only reason I give it four stars is for seating. I wish all restaurants would stop thinking that couples like to sit at small tables in a line with 10 other couples right next to you. We like Mexican food and I thought we would give Lopez a shot. We were more than satisfied with our experience. The food was at least one step above the normal Mexican places in our neighborhood. The different guacamole's were excellent and our entrees were delicious.

My husband can't do heat very well so going to a Mexican type restaurant can be a challenge however the menu is very diverse with great flavors not just heat. However if you want heat like my daughter does that have plenty of dishes to satisfy. Menu changes frequently and it is very customer friendly. They let you enjoy your meal and make you feel like you are their only customer.
Have eaten there before and would go back again.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE best Margaritas and Salsaso glad they worked on the Salsa recipe, it is 100% better and the Margaritas are always consistently outstanding. I could drink them all night. The dinners were great, also very consistent, great value, no complaints. Our server was the most attentive we have ever had at Lopez, really nice older gentleman, always there when he was needed. We have had the traditional Guacamole... but decided to try the Lobster Guacamole. We had always said the guacamole was good but our favorite was at Rosa Mexicana in DC... Until Saturday, when we had the Lobster Guac... it is fabulous and now our new favorite...
The Lobster Enchiladas are terrific as well.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMargarita + Fundido = GreatWe are regulars at Lopez and, more than any other restaurant, I stick with what I love there. That would be the Golden Margarita (the best I've ever had) and the (old school) Queso Fundido. They have changed the Fundido dish in recent years and I think it may not even be on the menu anymore. They told me they would ALWAYS make that Fundido for me and they have fulfilled their promise on that front. It was a busy night for a Thursday, which is great to see people out on a weeknight. The service, as always, was great - they always have very personable servers who are very attentive without being too attentive. However, our food came out a bit overdone - my burrito tortilla shell was singed and somewhat burned and my wife's chicken was a little dry. We really enjoy the food. This is not typical Mexican or Southwest, but very eclectic. Burritos are unusual and very delicious. They also have monthly specials if you don't want that SW flair, with great steaks and seafood.
