Celebrating Over 23 Years of Award Winning Classic & Modern Italian Cuisine! Owners Terry Antonelli and Enzo DeMuro believe in a warm and elegant approach to fine dining. Chef Walter Cotta shops at local farmer's and produce markets throughout the week to insure the best quality ingredients. His menu includes a number of vegan and gluten free items that are sure to please all palates. Our pastas, raviolis, focaccia bread, sauces and desserts are homemade. All of our beef is certified Sterling Silver. For lunch, dinner or a private event, L'Opera is a must!

  • "We've been meaning to try this restaurant for years and we're glad we did. Service and food was very, very good! My grouper was delicious and my partner's filet (Filetto Alle Cipolline) was the best he's had in a long time. We finished our generous meal with Sachetto Di Ciocolate, a dark chocolate "sack" filled with fruit and a zabaione cream - delish! It's not a complaint, but the huge mural (painting) on their north wall didn't match the décor."

The food was excellent and the service incredible; if you have Alex as your server you will be in for an exceptional dining experience.   • "Decided to try this restaurant after many years & all the great reviews. We had the Tartara Mediterranea. Layers of Italian flatbread with ahi tuna tarata, white bean hummus, dry cured olives, marinated fennel, harissa aioli and the Gamberi Alla Arancia; Golden brown hazelnut & bread crumb crusted black tiger shrimp, served with a mild citrus sauce. For entrees, the Mezzelune D' Aragosta and the Ravioli Al Tartufo. My husband enjoyed his pasta but mine had a very watery sauce and the appetizers were just average. Our table in the alcove was great but there were too many insects flying to enjoy the food. We brought a lovely Lucia Pinot Noir but the server never brought Pinot glasses, just pouring the wine in tiny table glasses."

  • "We live in san diego and cwere meeting friends from Detroit who were in town for a convention. Many places were already booked for Saturday night....the mor casual "regular" spots. I kept looking on trip advisor and came across l'opera. Oh so glad I did!! Not inexpensive, but all of us ordered different entrees and all 4 were delicious! Really wonderful flavors. The lone disappointment was the Caesar salad. Over dressed and nothing special to speak of at all. Pretty pricey and a fairly small portion - even for one....and both couples split one which ended up with a very small portion each. Sam, the "house" tenor came by to serenade. BIG voice!! Fun, but a bit "kitschy"."

  • "My wife and I came for our 20th anniversary dinner.My wife is a chef and had heard good things.Made a reservation for 7PM.Our server,Scott was exceptionally friendly and welcomed us promptly.We could tell that they were a bit under staffed and later heard one of the other servers stating that a group of 40 had come in off the street.Appetizer was excellent-frutti del mar.It took about an hour plus for our entrees.We weren't in a rush. Ordered two desserts to go and both were excellent (though the manager took the order and then forgot to notify Scott/bring it out-20 minutes later we got up and asked her for it again).They were no doubt recovering from the busy service. We'll be back, just wasn't planning on staying there for 2.5 hours."

  • "Dining while watching-one's-weight is easy at L'Opera - consistent quality of service & culinary science. Expectations are always exceeded, so states the palate. It's both the science of cooking & culinary art. Try the Battuta Di Pollo- a grilled chicken breast served over sautéed fingerling potatoes & steamed broccoli, excellent for the calorie conscious and weight watchers, as it is roasted in a garlic, lemon, and white wine sauce and accompanied with sautéed mushrooms. "

  • "I have eaten at almost all types of italian restaurants in various parts of the world, including Italy. I ordered Cannelloni, and to my surprise your version of it, were far from being the real plate that most of italian restaurants will serve, yours were more like a chinese california roll, deep fried with a salsa on top of it, the pasta was hard, maybe because it was previoously frozen. Anyway that was my dissappointment, the other plates ordered by my wife and my guest couple were okay to them. Sorry for the complaint, but your beautiful restaurant shall inprove this particular dish. Respectfully. Mario "

  • "We had a party of six for an early dinner. I just can't break away from your squash stuffed pasta in a butter sage sauce (there was some red sauce too). Tina was our server and she as always was terrific. So, I try to get there often, but you changed the recipe. The pasta was smaller and you added the red sauce. Please go back to the straight butter sage with the big tortellini! Thanks for all you do. All dinners were great. Thank you!"

The wine menu has some lovely choices and the food arrives in a timely manor, I would definitely recommend L' Operator anyone going bring friends, family, girlfriend or wife, this is definitely a must if your in long beach"
