Very nice staff, and the food was mostly excellent. The fruit at the fruit and cheese bar was not quite in season, however that did not spoil and otherwise mothers day brunch. The menu was creative and the dishes were excellent. My daughter Salmon was also slightly undercooked.

Service definitely needs to improve, specially if the tab is going to be so high, if i am expected to pay up to $55.00 per seat i would like my dining experience to be memorable. Very disappointing overall, but the service was memorably bad.

I found a small pebble in my food, the restaurant claimed it was a peppercorn but it was just too hard, that really hurt when I bit into it. The restaurant took the food off the bill and apologized, handling the situation as any good restaurant should, with professionalism. Even with this incident I would continue to recommend this restaurant as a good choice for Italian food in downtown Long Beach.

I was very disappointed in my experience this Saturday at L'Opera. Normally I rave about the place but I walked away apologizing to my guest for the experience. I was prepared to take my guest to the place for their birthday thinking it would be a romantic atmosphere with great food. What I got was a short menu due to the IRL racing and a waiter who kept bringing the wrong wine, took too long to come back to continue our order and overall since of chaos. I tried to defend the place to my guest saying that IRL racing was too blame but the restaurant should not have coprimised their normal style.

I had forgotten about the Long Beach Grand Prix and had that crowd inside and outside the restaurant hence the waiter was rushed, the restaurant was very busy and loud. We enjoyed the food but the minestrone soup had too much pepper. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but we go there next when the city does not have an event.

I have been going to L'Opera on and off since it opened about 17 years ago. There was a time when I noticed the food had declined a bit. Over the last year and 1/2 the food has been incredible. I also want to mention the the service has always been great. I especially enjoyed Scott, our server, on our last visit. He was amazingly funny and made my Birthday dinner memorable. I will definitely request him in the future. Overall, my favorite restaurant on Pine.

The second best room in So Cal (the Biltmore Hotel, what used to be Bernards, being the best physical room for me). The food is as good as I need. There may be better food, but I'm not sure that I would appreciate the difference. Also, my 16 year old daughter's favorite restaurant. Year after year, L'Opera fully fulfills it's promise.

It was great as always. The only mistake was the waiter seemed to forget the 2 children's drinks longer than what I thought as reasonable. Our wine glass's were alway's full, water glass's never below half. The food as always was top shelf!!! Prices are reasonable and as my wife alway say's, if we didnt drink wine our bill would be very low...

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

It was my birthday & although my wife confirmed during the reservation process & via phone that day, the restaurant failed to acknowledge it. The server(Dean H.)rushed us thru our order & pushed dessert menus onto our table as he passed, without asking whether we were interested. The filet I ordered was very good, but the ravioli dish my wife had was mediocre. They have their menu set up in traditional italian style w/Primi & Secondi menus. We informed our waiter that we'd be sharing an appetizer & soup, primi, & then secondi entrees. He brought out the primi & secondi at the same time, as if they were two entrees. Yes...they are guilty of a faux italian dining experience. We are disatisfied with the service we received for $133.
